Customer Reviews:
Best Sex Pistols CD there is.......2003-10-03
This is the best Sex Pistols CD you can have. If you already have "Never Mind the Bollocks" or "The Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle", fine, but this one tops them all. It sounds like the Sex Pistols, only the guy playing bass is an actual musician and not just some stupid freak who can't tell a bass from his own f***ing ass. The original "Glen Matlock" pistols sound much, much better than the "Sid Vicious" Pistols: every version of a song on "No Future" is faster, nastier, more energetic than the "Never Mind the Bollocks" equivalent (with the possible exception of Submission, which didn't have the S.O.S.-opening at this time). Both versions of Anarchy in the UK are excellent, and you will never want to listen to "Never Mind the Bollocks again" (OK, maybe you will just because of "Holidays in the sun" and "Bodies"...) once you hear the original "No Feelings" and "EMI".
They say Matlock was kicked out of the Pistols for being a Beatles fan. I'll take a Beatles fan who can play punk rock over a Beatles hater who can't.
God save the Queen
Sex Pistols There is No Future.......2002-10-17
***** = The kind of music that is so good, you want it played at your wedding.
**** = The kind of music that is so good, you'll go pay $500 on a system just so you can blast it in the parking lot.
*** = The kind of music that gets you movin' and groovin' but quickly loses your interests after track number two.
** = The kind of music that is so unbelievably disturbing, you don't turn on your stereo for fear of catching the first few notes before you can react and change the station.
* = The kind of music that you say to yourself, "Man... If I would have known that people can get rich by making noises that closly resemble a sheep's bah as it is being slaughtered, I would have dropped honors classes and joined 'American Idol' years ago."
Sex Pistols There is no future gets *****. I want these guys screemin' "anarchy in the UK" as I say "Ido."
In this age of pop-rock and poser-punk, it can be nearly impossible to find a band, and I mean a real band, of song writting, instrument playing, mind blowing performance giving rockers, who can deliver the sound you love to hear and the performance you can't wait to see. When the Sex Pistols came together in 75', we finally found this "real band." With the suicidally reckless drug fiend, Sid Vicious, snarling and screeching "God save the Queen", Jonny Rotten on earth-shattering caterwaul, Steve Jones on lacerating guitar, and Paul Cook on bowl-quaking drums, this foursome tears up the face of rock 'n' roll with violent disruption and audacious insurrection. In only the 24 months that the band was together, they managed to make their mark in the rock 'n' roll wolrd forever. Even outfits who formed in the Sex Pistol's wake like The Beastie Boys, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Sigue Sigue, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Happy Mondays, Manic Street Preachers, and countless others, "Anarchy in the UK" still would have blown them all out of the water. Only bands like The Clash should be mentioned in positive conotation when being compared to Sex Pistols. If you want it, here it is. Songs of facscism and abortion, apathy and insurrection, that are played with fury, anger, and energy. Grab the Sex Pistols and hold on tight because
this is the band that shook the world. Enjoy.
A good bootleg........2001-10-18
I've never heard the original recording, but this remaster has--especially considering its ancient origins--very good sound quality. The instruments and vocals come through clearly and individually, and there is a minimum of background noise.
This is my first Pistols bootleg, so I can't say if it's better than any of the others available, but I've heard a lot of bootlegs by other bands, and I can say with certainty that you won't be disappointed by this recording.
