Album Description
This 15-track comp (re-mastered from original tapes) was selected by Love And Rockets and spans their entire career and all labels. Includes rare 7-inch single versions previously unavailable, along with sleeve notes by the band. Beggars Banquet. 2003.
Customer Reviews:
decent.......2006-12-31
A decent collection, but you'll need to supplement this with "Express," "Earth Sun Moon" and "Love and Rockets," three great CDs.
Good mastering but..........2006-09-18
I continuously get irritated with folks like Beggar's Banquet for releasing compilations with single mixes or dorky updated versions of songs. When I buy a greatest hits collection, I want to hear the original mixes as they were released on the original album. Also, where's 'All in My Mind' from Express on this supposed 'Best of'?
5 star band, gets a 3 star "best of" collection...........2006-05-09
Love and Rockets is one of my favorites from the 80's. L&R made some of the most 'atmospheric' music from the 80's that really set them apart from the synth-pop and power-pop groups from that era. If 80's music were a schoolyard, you would probably find L&R hanging around with the likes of Joy Division, Jesus & Mary Chain, Echo & the Bunnymen, and of course Bauhaus. Or they would probably be in a corner all to themselves. The point is, L&R made some of THE best darker, gothic sounding, moody, ambient, depressing, uplifting, sinister, sensual, quirky, cool, and hip 'alternative' music...EVER. If you ever want to experience being in a drugged out, dream-like, audio-sensory high, look no further than this group. This collection, while acceptable at 15 songs and around $10, is sorely missing this aspect though. Here's my version of what their 'best of' should be; or at least, the songs that will put you in that special (drug-free) 'high'.
Disc 1: The hallucinegenic-inducing songs=
* Haunted When the Minutes Drag
* All In My Mind (acoustic version) (the regular version sounds so upbeat and happy, the acoustic version sounds like the soundtrack to man's impending doom. j/k, sorta)
* An American Dream (brilliant slow opening, then it gets fast:0(
* The Light (dark, ominous, but in a good way. then again most of these songs can be described like that)
* Waiting for the Flood
* Earth, Sun, Moon
* I Feel Speed (love this over-looked, hypnotic song. it will put you to sleep, or put you in a dream-like state of consciousness. don't listen to this while driving)
* Sweet F.A. (a deceptively sweet, quiet, and catchy acoustic number)
* Judgement Day
* Deep Deep Down (off their electronica-influenced cd, LIFT. this is not electronic-sounding at all. this song is like sex. it builds and builds, climaxes, then keeps on going, snuggling with you until you fall asleep. or hit repeat and do it all over again. it's a moody(yet kinda rocks), sexy(and kinda raunchy), almost sinisterly wicked-sounding song. at over 9 minutes, the second half is waaay repetative, unless you're already under it's sensual hypnosis and grip like i was. gee, i must really like this one)
* Party's Not Over (off LIFT too, but not electronic sounding either)
Disc 2: The other greats=
* Kundalini Express (their best ever? it's fast, and tripped out!)
* Yin and Yang the Flower Pot Man (actual title of song)
* All In My Mind
* Ball of Confusion(big commercial hit)
* Mirror People
* No New Tale to Tell (personal all-time favorite)
* So Alive (the other big commercial hit)
* Rock and Roll Babylon
* Sweet Lover Hangover (sounds mainstream, shoulda been a hit)
* Holy Fool (it IS mainstream, but still not a hit...but who cares)
To die-hards, hopefully my list doesn't offend too much. To newcomers, download away and check out what you're missing(to the timid and uninitiated start with 'disc 2'). Btw, they also have a video collection on dvd for under $20 that's worth owning.
A great band.......2005-09-30
Love and Rockets was a great band and this is a good collection of some of their songs. They have many other great songs though too.
Bad collection of a great Band.......2005-03-11
It would be almost impossible to make a greatest hits album of Love and Rockets without leaving some of their great songs out, but it seems that they actually omited some of their best songs ever, for instance "All In My Mind" or "An American Dream". I would not recommend this album very much, the tracks selection is poor.

LAME!!!!! ARRRGAH!!!!.......2006-09-27
The first track is cool...the scratching is affective though it's the last you'll hear of it...I like the zinc song & thats about it...this is very lame would-be soulful dnb...stuff like mampi swift's rebirth is music that cannot be listened to outside of a drum & bass club & even still you'd have to be drunk to get into it. Moments like 'grand theft auto' would be heavy moments of truth in a club but at home you wont even notice them...if you want some drum & bass cd's your going to have to buy the ones that are actually musical & geared towards the home audience...that tech-steppy buisness wont work in your headphones..
Alright, but 45 can do better.......2005-05-17
Ive seen this guy rock some mean live shows, however this album onlys good with few tracks. Opening up with Bad Company and Ram Trilogy sets the mood for some hard hitting tracks, but after that, 45 goes to some older jungle tracks.
THIS STUFF IS OFF THA HOOK!!!.......2002-11-01
Danny the Wildchild once again drives home his mix of drum & bass and turntablism. If you like drum & bass even in the remotest amount, this is by far THE BEST album to date to make you fall in love with junglism. Danny takes his mix from one continent/label to the next of some of the finest drum & bass in the world. His skills cannot be matched by many, and his live performance will slam the dancefloors round the world anyday. If you like Danny the Wildchild, also check out some of his other mixes and you will not be disappointed.

Album Description
Spanning the late eighties & early nineties, 'Sorted' is a double album of 'Madchester' classics that documents the history of the baggy generation. A nostalgic look back to a time when half the UK were wearing flares & 'sorted', 'nice one' & 'double top' had become the language of English youth, featured artists include Happy Mondays 'Step On', James 'Born Of Frustration', The Charlatans 'The Only One I Know'/'Then', Inspiral Carpets 'Dragging Me Down'/'This Is How It Feels', & many, many more. Slipcase. 40 tracks.

Customer Reviews:
Why would a DJ mixed cd be tracked out?.......2003-04-03
The track selection on this album is great, but why would you ever track out a DJ mix cd like a pop record? You're ready for the transition to hit and the speakers go dead for 2 seconds before the mix picks back up (often horribly) - are you joking!?
No disrespect, Phantom 45 is one of my all-time favorite DJs (arguably one of the best Junglists EVER), but the production of this album ruins it.
....Rocks tha Jungle in 2K2.......2002-11-03
If there is only few drum and bass mixes you should pick up out of the thousands that were made, I would put Phantom 45's mix in the top 10 for sure. The front of the package of this CD reads: --- "showcases a funky new school vs old school Drum 'n' Bass ~ an infectious showing from a true pioneer in the U.S. Drum 'n' Bass scene" --- and I couldn't agree with its author more. Phantom 45 is one of the less recognized jungle DJs in the United States scene often times and his mixes alone can set the record straight for people that doubt his masterful craftsmanship of drum and bass from present and from the past. This is a great album to listen to for a true junglist or someone that is just starting to discover jungle music. If you like this CD, you should also check out Danny the Wildchild's mix of the same name (different mix though)... Peace

British Original SoundTrack - 1 CD version.......2002-06-01
I thought I was buying the 2 CD set, so was rather disappointed when I received the one with only 1 CD.
The 2 CD set includes the track, Hold That Sucker Down, probably the best track on the set. Without this song to listen to, I find the single CD rather a waste of money.
Great Memories.......2001-03-18
This CD brings back some great memories of this fab show. I highly recommend this one to all the "Friends of Mary" out there.
Queer as Folk - Video.......2001-02-17
If you are interested in purchasing the original English series on DVD/Video you can purchase it (formatted for US/Canada)at the website: http://www.c1tv.com/index.html Amazon.UK only sells it formatted for Europe, and Amazon.com dosen't sell it at all. Worth the cash!!!!!
when is the US release coming out?.......2001-02-14
ooohhh did I say COMING OUT?
Oh well, if you don't get that yopu're on the wrong page sweetie.
I have been avidly following the exploits of the Americans in Showtime's QAF. I find the production to be glossy and more polished than that of its British Counterpart. I Love my QAF on Showtime, Me and my Special someone just can't get enough!
I have to admit though that, If it wasn't fpor the groundbreaking effort of the British series, there would be no American series. This is one thing the AMericans did better than the Brits. I just wished they set the thing in Hillcrest San Diego Ca, than in Pittsburg, PA. Oh well.. Bottomline, LOVE THE SHOW!
About the soundtrack...
Welll....
I guess its okay, BUT HAD I KNOWN THAT THERE IS A DOUBLE DISC SET I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN THAT INSTEAD OF THE SINGLE DISC. Now there's even a second installment! The single disc seems to be to collect different songs from the 2 double disc sets.
I would still buy it definitely. I love the fast version of To love you more, U la la la, and the opening sequence... It is a FAB disc. I love it. BUT i would have opted for the double disc had I known it was available too.
;) oh well, I just have to buy those two now.
