    Product Description

Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, Lenny and the Piss Poor Boys play country & western the way the Clash or the Ramones might have if theyd grown up on Waylon Jennings instead of the New York Dolls. Fronted by singer/guitarist Lenny Lashley (Darkbuster), and rounded out by upright bassist Jon Johnson (Bourbonaires), guitarist/steel guitarist Chris DeBarge (Curses/Speed Devils/Stumbleweeds), and drummer Tommy Long (Dogmatics), the band recorded their eponymous debut album during the summer of 2004 at Basement 247 Studios in Allston. Produced by Chris DeBarge and engineered by Basement 247s Jack Younger, Lenny and the Piss Poor Boys features ten bourbon-soaked tunes including Lonely Days and Whiskey Nights, Cambridgeport Saloon and Two Robbers - as well as a cover of the classic late 70s Lowenbrau beer theme, Heres to Good Friends. Since 2002 Lenny and the Piss Poor Boys have built a devoted following among both country and punk audiences through New England. Finally, with the release of Lenny and the Piss Poor Boys, heres your opportunity to find out why. So pour yourself a shot or four of Jim Beam at 2am, light up a smoke, put on Lenny and the Piss Poor Boys, and think about lost opportunities and broken hearts. That's country music, that's punk rock, and that's Lenny and the Piss Poor Boys.

5 out of 5 stars A Third great album from a great band.......2004-11-06

To start, I can Lick any SOB in the House is one of the hardest working and best performing live acts in America, and they have earned and deserve the name. Don't be put off by the name, they're actually some of the friendliest folks you'll ever meet. People don't see these guys once, they see them once and then come back to every show they play in town. Go see them live.

Menace is their third CD, and as much as I like the first two, the band keeps getting better. They're described in all sorts of ways such as alt-county-rock, southern rock (they're from Portland Oregon but the sound works anyway) I've heard Hill-Billy used in the same sentence with their name, but to me, they're just a great Rock & Roll band. Their Front Man is Mike Damron, and he commands the stage like a fire breathing preacher (OK I' may be exaggerating, but the guy is good at his job). Mike also writes the songs, and the songs are powerful, often political, and always unapologetic and sung with heart. The musicians in the band are all top notch, and as hard working as Mike himself. Mole Harris on Bass, Flapjack Texas on drums (yes he answers to that name), Handsome Jon Burbank on lead guitar--Jon also did a fantastic job producing the CD--, and David Lipkind playing some really good harmonica.

As for the songs on the disc, I listened to Westboro Baptist Church at full volume several times on November 3rd, and it really helped. I could listen to that several times in a row. I had it on headphones here at my desk, and the guys in the band may be happy to know I couldn't help singing along. Not everyone I work with was amused. Sore winners I guess. Rachel Corrie is a great tribute the activist from Olympia Washington of that name who was killed by an Israeli army bulldozer while protesting the destruction of Palestinian homes by said Bulldozer. The album has some great rockers on it like the opening track Gone, Fall Down, and Menace, as well as some ballads like Pauline, Dust & Sun, and Regrets & Greyhound. Everything works, and there's not a song on the disc that isn't great to my ears. Buy this CD, and the go see them live (or the other way around whatever works for you).

You also want to check out their second disc Put Here to Bleed.

The singer's a poser! He went to a Slayer show wearing a Yo La Tengo shirt. That says a lot, don't it?

If you want to have yourself a great time drink some Volcano's, Zombie's, and Hurricane's, and pop either Piss & Vinegar or Wonderland in, and you will be amazed, at the incredible sound these guys get. Outstanding vocals, powerful rhythm section and an amazing guitar player. It was most definitely worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars These guys just can't be from Jersey !!!!.......1999-05-20

The first time I heard this band, I was blown away, I was ice fishing with my cousin in Alaska and he played me the tape. I was blown away!!! Made my whole trip worthwhile. Warmed me down to my toes. Made me think of drinking Big Reds in Aruba. Great album. Matt Dolan is a guitar hero. Should be in everyone's collection.....

      Product Description

Like labelmates Devilium, Imperial Sodomy's homeland is France, and also like the former, Imperial Sodomy have one goal--to create fast music to bring about utter destruction to the pitiful world. Releasing a mini cd in 1998 on Criminal Records, Piss on Love, Imperial Sodomy consist of menacing members all culled from the depths of hell--Disaster (Vokills), Reek (Guitar), Shoen (Guitar), and Scum on the drum battery. While their sound certainly harkens back to early death metal, it is by no means retro. Imperial Sodomy proclaim their major influences consist of Suffocation, Brutal Truth, and Angel Corpse, and while there is no doubt that those influences show through, the band successfully manage to transgress all of those to include a much rawer approach and sound to their death-black-thrash hybrid. 5 Songs.

      Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Desert Island material.......2001-06-02

Cordelia's Dad's first, eponymous album hints at the future direction of the band -- away from the electric, punk-fueled treatment of traditional songs and towards serious, non-ironic, traditional folk music performed sparsely on traditional instruments. And despite how their other albums are hauntingly good, this album captures raw, youthful energy of people discovering their raison d'etre. Here you will find energetic, electric, melodic-punk romps of songs up to hundreds of years old. The result is brilliant.

Lounge lizard guitar/bass treatment in "Loch Lomond" the redemption of "Scarborough Fair", the rollicking "Maui", throat-scraping stylings of "My Pretty Little Pink," the "Baby Song" could be a cover of DOA, for crying out loud...

The liner notes on all the 'Dad albums are good, but my favorite observation is on this one: "All these songs are about death, except for one, which is about going to Hawaii."

Folk music enthusiasts should perhaps pass up this album in favor of the later Cordelia's Dad albums "Comet" and "Spine" which have very traditional folk music and shape note singing. But punk enthusiasts looking for something beyond two minute crashes through sex, drugs, violence, 'n' politics should hear this band, and this is the album for them. Because this is sex, drugs, violence, 'n' politics BEFORE it got all lamed out in the twentieth century. This is a band which can really expand your horizons. Four stars because "How Can I Sleep", their second album, had to have five. Finally, contact the band directly to buy the albums -- they won't be printed again any time soon.

This is one of the best cds that I have heard lately. This is a great band from the Pittsburgh Pa. area, that is up and coming and is sure to hit national success soon. This cd is also an enhanced cd that contains a music video for a song from a previous album, and a live video as well. it also contains interview footage with the band, and even has a video game as well.
