ever bought an album on gut instinct that your gonna like it? i do and this one called to me. If your ever gonna make a long journey at night , play this , loud, zany and uncompromising. Not as deep or intricate as most,but just makes me smile and nod my head whenever i listen.If your feelin down and dont understand this dumb world , this`ll cheer you up, people at work look at me with pity when they know i listen to metal...i just smile ...

Helltrain is from Sweden and they are punk ass rot 'n' roll, there cd is one of the best out right now it took awhile to get to America but at least we are starting to get some good music for once. Now for the album its great from Route 666 to Helltrain there is not one bad song. The Helltrain Coven chorus will stay in your head all day long. Polizei starts out with a awesome intro. Afterglow is another one you will be singing the chorus all day in your head. The vocals are aggressive, awesome guitar riffs and a heavy bass. I think they are one of the best bands to ever come out of Sweden. If you dont have this album go get it right now you will be glad you did.

These guys are Hot.......2002-04-30

After seeing that these guys got together with Carvin Jones when he was in the UK on tour I took a chance. From the first tune, 666, I was grabbed by the neck and soundly rocked. Every song on this CD is great rock/blues. The blues component of their sound is somewhat suble. The lyrics are interesting and coherent. The vocals are rather outstanding. These guys know how to rock you.

Hamsters Are Better Live.......2000-08-25

This is a very good rock/blues-rock CD, although heavier on the rock. The Hamsters are one of the tightest bands I've ever heard, with decent vocals and excellent guitar. The Hamsters' forte is their impressive treatment of cover material. Yes, they cover Hendrix (quite well, I might add), but also bring more obscure covers to life with excellent interpretations (case in point from this CD - "Come To Popa" and Robin Trower's "Tear it Up"). Slim, the band's talented guitarist (and also the vocalist), has agressive, gritty blues-rock leads to fit just about any style of music. His leads are powerful and moving, but never overdone.

An even better CD is "Hamster Jam", an energetic, 57+ minute live recording that much better portrays the band's talent. As stated by a previous reviewer of "Route 666", this band is best enjoyed live. "Hamster Jam" has been discontinued for a while, but has recently been re-issued, so it should make it's way back into circulation soon.

Great guitar playing - so-so material.......1998-10-17

Route 666 is the latest album from Southend, England based trio, the Hamsters. Featuring surely the finest lead guitar playing outside of America's legendary Danny Gatton, Route 666 will certainly please all those who like their music loud and with a driving beat. Much of the music on the album betrays the groups musical preferences, notably Hendrix and ZZ Top.

To be frank, the Hamsters, unlike revenge, are a dish best served warm, and live. Performing 300 live gigs per year for the past 10 years their music has been honed to an almost unbelievable perfection and they have a huge and dedicated following, particularly in the U.K. Their albums, whilst all worth listening to, tend to dissappoint anyone who's had the priviledge of catching one of their live performances and Route 666, worthy though it is, is no exception. Having said that, if you want to hear lead guitar to take your breath away, tune to track 6 and listen to Slim's mind blowing solos on "Tear it up"; worth the price of admission on its own.

These guys are bad ass. I got hooked to their song Murder Machines then I bought the cd and quickly relized that there were more great songs to be heard. Im in a band myself and this is what I've been wanting to sound like ever since I started it.
