CD Review.......2005-09-24
These guys rock, plain and simple.
Pissed, alcohol fueled, beer soaked bar thrash.
I'm suprised it took me so long to hear of this band.
Definitely worth the buy.
Check them out.
the real deal ladies and gentlemen.......2005-09-18
there's not many bands even in the history of punk that
can step to the snatchers brand of energy. these guys make
nearly any band playing today look like little girls.
sadly obscure, you'll probably never get a chance to
see them destroy in person, but dammit get this debut
and a case of beer and turn it up.
The best album of the 90's.......2004-07-04
Listening to this masterpiece will be the highlight of your pitiful life. Buy it now.
Drink and DESTROY!!!!!.......2003-09-19
O.K. folks this record is 100% pure raunch'n'roll mayhem! The Candy Snatchers rip into their tunes like no other band currentlly calling themselves "rock'n'roll". There is a certain element of danger and violence lurking on this record that ain't so subtle. This album kicks right into sonic overdrive and just keeps gettin' wilder and meaner. Larry May tears his voice to bloody shreds as the rest of the band slash and burn through one blazing song after the next. This stuff is just plain GREAT. Period. These guys played to an almost empty house in Toronto and STILL TORE THE DARN ROOF OFF OF THE PLACE! Really kids, The mighty Candy Snatchers give it their all. The least that YOU could do is worship them like they deserve to be worshipped!
Loud, nasty fun. Very highly recommended!!!!!!!.......1998-09-08
Forget Green Day, Blink 182, Rancid, or just about any other band calling themselves "punk." The Candy Snatchers' self-titled debut rocks with enough energy and anti-PC attitude to level the hordes of radio-friendly "hardcore" bands that are popping up everywhere nowadays.
Along with the New Bomb Turks and the Oblivians, the Candy Snatchers are one of the few bands that are bringing nasty Stooges and Dead Boys-inspired punk rock into the 1990s.
If you're lucky enough to still believe that rock 'n' roll is the music of irresponsibility and arrested development, do yourself a tremendous favor and get this CD pronto!

great stuff from Larry May, Matt Odietus and Company.......2004-04-06
This is a GREAT rawk and roll record. At first the sound of the recording put me off - I was expecting more of a sound like on Human Zoo and the self-titled release before. But with repeated listens the songs really come through and i realized the sound of the recording is just different - not bad.
sleazy Highlights include the very catchy Mutants cover,'The Baby's No Good', 'Ass Casserole', 'Run You Down', 'House of Skag' and 'Give It Up'.
Cheap Dates are good for a spin too, but I bought this disc mainly for the Snatchers - Buy it, it's great!
Candy Snatchers from 1998: You can't go wrong.......2001-03-01
This is a reissue of a 10 inch record from 1998 that has two covers by the Candy Snatchers ("This Is Rock and Roll," by The Kids, and "Baby's No Good," by The Mutants) and one CD bonus track ("Run You Down"). The Candy Snatchers are a great live band who combine the best of 70s punk (especially the Dead Boys) with a really souped up "old time" rock 'n' roll sound that isn't "rootsy" (i.e., boring) in the least. Their latest CD releases (this and Takin' A Ride) are their best yet. But their best song is still their classic concert opener "No time to Waste" from 1998's Human Zoo CD.
The Cheap Dates sound pretty close to the above description, but the difference is that they're more oriented towards the "new Southern rock"-Confederacy of Scum-Hookers thing. "Van" is a real scorcher.
This is just a great loud, distorted rock album. The Candy Snatchers should be considered the new AC/DC, at least.

Customer Reviews:
One of God's gifts to rock and roll!.......2003-12-15
If you haven't heard of the Snatchers by now, you need to pull that over-sized cranium outta yer stinkhole and get this disc by any means necessary. Besides the almighty Throw Rag, the Snatchers are indeed one of the most sorely overlooked bands performing today. Life's too short- don't let these guys slip past your eardrums, be it live on stage or what they've got recorded. Viva los Candy Snacthers!
Pure Rock and Roll.......2003-07-07
This album is about as full on Rock n' Roll as you can get. In my opinion the singer has one of the best voices in Rock n' Roll. There is so much energy that it sounds like it will just explode out of your speakers. If you like a mix of Rock n' Roll and Punk you can't go wrong with this album. It's one of those albums where every song just rocks. It's a shame there aren't more releases from them.
The Candy Snatchers.......2000-11-09
Probably the greatest rock and roll band in America today.
These cats are out of their minds!!!!.......1999-06-16
The Candy Snatchers are the tops baby! These cats are what rock'n'roll is all about! This record blows most of what is known as "punk" away in an explosion of raw power and energy. This album is just what the world needs to get over the recent swing revival....uugghh!

The only song i've heard yet of the Candy Snatchers is Ass, Grass, or Crack, and I already love them. 5 stars. Enough said.
Perfect Candy Snatchers record.......2000-12-22
This might actually be the EP Takin' a Ride, which has 6 songs including a cover of the first song on The Replacements' first album ("Takin' a Ride"). The Candy Snatchers are the best high-energy rock band touring today. If you live in the New York metro area, or even if you don't, try to see them at the Continental (St Marks Place and Third Ave), where they play every 3 or 4 months.
