I was'nt too impress w/this one.It has it's similarities to the likes
of greatwhite,only great white stands alone in comparrison.For the
price I just don't think it's worth it.If you want great rock,check out
wildside it's way better for your money,It's a real gem.This cd is a
petrified prune.

I remember buying this when I was about 15 (some years ago now)
It was something different to what I'd been used to. But it was raw, bluesey,and quite funky. The broad and brash guitar licks and wicked solos are what really made this album good. The singer's voice was ok, but had it's bad moments too
A Very Overlooked Album By An Overlooked Band.......2005-07-28
In the days of big hair and big rockin' hits there were many great bands that were overlooked...This was the case with Salty Dog, I was blown away when i first heard this group, I was in junior high and a friend of mine turned me on to this album, of course that was back in the days when cassettes were the big thing, Side B of the cassette was undoubtably better than Side A, So I guess the last five or six tracks on the cd are the choice cuts. "Lonesome Fool" my favorite song on the album is worth checking out just for the banjo....thats right, I said banjo. Also "Sacrifice Me" is a killer power ballad (how was this song not a hit?)....So if you were into Kix, Skid Row, Slaughter & Britny Fox..Here's one you will dig.

Your typical metalhead will like this album--heck I like it and I sure do like metal!!!! But there's some cool stuff on here that sets apart Damien from other rockers. I think the song "Give Me a Sign" is really, really good. It gives me the chills to hear it. Now I know that when it comes to metal, sensitivity AIN'T what you necessarily wanna hear!! Well, let me tell you this: that song rocks seriously, but I really feel like it gets to the heart of TRUE DESIRE for a woman--but it is not disrespectful AT ALL. It's like a longing beseech to a fair maiden--in a very noble way. I also like "The Serpent King" a lot. "Give me a Sign," though--great song

Wow,am i surprised of what i read by you guys,i was beginning to think i was the only fan of salty dog on this earth!
I have the salty dog - every dog has its day album on vinyl ,unfortunately i cant play it,dont have the player (dont know the name of it ,im portuguese..lol)but,i was smart to record it to a tape when i had the chance,and i still hear it ;)
Anyway,in a time where there was a lot of rocks bands,and i used to buy alot of "risky" albums (of bands hardly known in my country)back in the 80's ,i found this precious gem.
I believe of the hundreds albums i have of rock,this is one of the most distinctive ones in terms of music,there simply isnt any band i know or can compare , that has the sound they do.one of you described it as rocking bluesy tunes ,wich i agree entirely.they were fun and stil are to hear,and theyr slower songs have great feeling like just like a woman and sacrifice me.
Boy,do they bring memories! anyway,if you guys research a bit on google you will find some info on them like i did ...

A song that sticks.......................2004-02-14
A friend gave me the cassette of salty dog in 1991. Many drunken bachlor days spent listening to that tape and I lost it in 94. 2 days ago while going thru stuff i found it, put it in a cassette player [a device that reads the tape] and every song came right back to me! I knew every cord and word. Great "albulm"! It is like a version on AC/DC. What happened to those guys?

Salty Dog was one the better bands that came out in the early 90's. There are several rocking bluesy tunes on the CD. It is a shame that bands like this and Tora Tora never really got recognized and got the publicity they deserved.
