2 out of 5 stars Weak Medicines.......2004-04-07

A sometimes enticing alternative record, "Sanctuary Medicines" combines rock, trip-hop, metal, dance, funk, electronica, spoken word, pop, grunge and industrial/ goth. Yes, all these styles in one album. And does it work? Hmmmmm, not very well. Most of this music has been done before and better by bands like Nine Inch Nails, Massive Attack or Prodigy, so Rico has nothing all that new to offer. "Sanctuary Medicines" provides some experimentalism at parts, yet it becomes derivative anyway and fails to impress. There are some good songs here nonetheless, like the enticing single "Smokescreen" or the desperate and dark "Float". Still, for the most part this effort is not very memorable or innovative and ends up being another uneven rock album.

Nothing special.

5 out of 5 stars He's gonna be big!.......2000-08-05

It took me a while to get into this but now i really like it. The songs are pretty gloomy, hip-hop/metal stuff. Rico is one of the few British acts that i think is any good. If any one from this country deserves success its him. Id recomend it to any who likes rock or hip-hop.

5 out of 5 stars one of the best british metal artist in years.......1999-11-28

When i first listened to this album i was slightly disapointed. There were only three songs on it that sounded anything like what i expected. But after listening to the album twice i realised how alternative Rico really was. There were all sorts of music genre in every song. The singles i've bought have given me a different impression of what ricos music is, dark, gloomy, almost nine inch nail'ish. but songs like Float and State are completely different. I would recomend this album to anyone who is even slightly into this kind of music. All i wanna do now is see Rico live.
