5 out of 5 stars Simply Beautiful.......2004-05-23

As a big fan of New Order, this single cd is more than great. its perfect. It has 4 really cool versions of "Bizarre Love Triangle" including the original album version. I would like to give it 5 stars, cause im kinda tired of the remastered US version (the one on the "Best of New Order" cd) It also has a rare song called "State of The Nation"which i think is ok, not THAT great like its other hits, BUT its still a ok song to listen to. But this song is my 2ND fav song from them. im sure it might be for others too. Anyho, if your a die hard fan and/or of this song, this is a MUST get. enjoi.

5 out of 5 stars AWSOME!!!!.......2004-01-24

2 out of 5 stars You probably have it!.......2000-04-01

If you are a fan of New Order, then you probably already have "Bizzare Love Triangle" re-mix in the Substance CD. The instrumental version is good but it's the same thing, just with no words. "Shame of the Nation" (not that good) you can find on "The Rest Of New Order". They should have re-re-mixed BLT, just like they did to "Blue Monday" and "Toucned By The Hand Of God". Now there's a single that I gladly paid $11 dollars for. 2 stars for the instrumental ver.

5 out of 5 stars Bizarre Love Triangle.......2000-02-28

Is just one of my favorites songs from New Order, it RULES! This single album is a must If you're getting into New Order, or if you're one of the Biggest fan..... It's a must!

4 out of 5 stars Good for a single.......2000-02-18

I'm not big on buying singles, but I bought this one because I love New Order and I'm determined to get everything by them and there was a version of Bizarre Love Triangle that I could not find anywhere else. Well, I found it here. Three beautiful mixes, a cool (for the most part) instrumental, and State of the Nation, a song that I didn't like so much at first but really grew on me after a few listenings. Overall a great buy. I didn't want to give it five stars because I'm not sure it's the absolute best of the best, but I would have easily given it 4 and a half stars if I could have. A must have for all New Order fans or for those who just want to explore one really great song in nearly every way possible.

2 out of 5 stars A Great Idea, Poorly Executed.......2007-02-12

Like one of the reviewers of the Cure String Quartet Tribute album, I excitedly grabbed this from the shelf of my local music store. Figuring that it would be impossible for this not to be fabulous, I decided to forgo the opportunity to listen to it in the store first. The music of both of these bands is so evocative, distinctive and well arranged it seemed obvious that it would lend itself to classical interpretation; there are even strings on the original Age of Consent. Would that the Quartet had stuck with interpreting. Instead they seem bent on translating these songs, practically note for note. Perhaps they were trying to avoid being labeled as Muzak; perhaps they were aspiring for an edgy 'Alt Classical' flavor ala the brilliant group Rachel's. The result is nervous, jittery, overdone and even frantic at times. One of the things I love about New Order is the way that they instilled electronically flavored music with emotional sincerity, especially on their earlier work. Paradoxically the Quartet appears to be trying to bring out the electronic aspect over the emotional. The one cut where they seemed to back off and let the feeling emerge was Love Vigilantes, and it works beautifully- but then again the original Love vigilantes isn't electronic. I have given this album several plays. I really want to like it, but I'm going to return it. There's more than enough Joy Divsion and New Order material for the Quartet to make a second effort. Hopefully they'll read my review first.

        Album Description

The album Bizarre Love Triangle by Charlotte Summer released in August of 2004 has been described as "if Blondie had collaborated with New Order." Charlotte Summer blends electronic dance beats with poppy hooks and dark moods. She blends electric guitars, bass, drums and synths to create a sound that has been described as "some badass electronic music" by one reviewer and "truly amazing" from another. Her vocals have been described as "sexy and serious, fun loving and yet sometimes mysterious." Also, "having a very unique tone and a great melodic voice." The overall sound has been described as Electro PopRock. As one reviewer said, "This definitely brings to mind early female fronted new wave groups. Yet, the electronics added a great dimension to the Rock!"
