Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME FAST DEATH/BLACK METAL .......2006-04-21

Brilliant!
Fast, yet agressive death metal with awesome agressive, yet melodic guitars.
This is in vein of At The Gates and Dark Tranquility, however I found those guys a bit more agressive and brutal.
For death metal fans this is pleasurable listening experience. And good running music.
Also their debut Seasons of Frost is brutal too.

5 out of 5 stars This album is amazing........2005-04-22

There are a few copies floating around the US, but not many I just happen to find one in a used cd store . Trail of Tears will forever be one of my all time favorites.

5 out of 5 stars awesome assault!.......2000-07-12

i hope gates of ishtar comes out with another album. this is an awesome assault of noise!

4 out of 5 stars great NWOSDM music.......1999-10-01

Gates of ishtar know very well how to play NWOSDM music and they are showing it every time they release new album. If your a lover of melody and aggresivity ,their music is perfect for you.I loved it.

4 out of 5 stars Great metal, about as melodic as i've ever heard.......1999-05-26

I listen to metal a lot and I must say that this album is one of the ones I listen to quite a bit. I love how melodic it is. It really makes me want to nod my head constantly. The guitars are full of speed and acuracy. It's one thing to just play fast, but it's another to play fast and execute. These guys do it quite well.

4 out of 5 stars Wish they were still together..............2002-06-01

Gates of Ishtar used to be a good tight Swedish metal band. Unfortunately after At Dusk and Forever, they split up. I haven't heard anything on them for about two years.
I looked all over for their albums, and when I came to Amazon.com, i realized they had the double disc with Dawn of Flames and At Dusk and Forever on it. I had to have it.
When I got it, i listened to it immdiately. I was very impressed, especially with the sound on At Dusk and Forever. When i listened to Dawn of FLames first, I was not too impressed with it, i would give that album three stars. The production is not too impressive, the vocals are not that prominent over the music, and the singer(I forget his name) doesn't change pitch too much at all. The guitars are not anything too spectacular, but all in all, I still liked the songs on Dawn of Flames none the less.
Now when I listened to At Dusk and Forever, I was nearly floored. From the first song Wounds to the last song Red Hot, I was hooked on that album. THe production is three times better then Dawn of Flames, the guitars are blazing and ripping through the music, the drums are hammering and pounding, and the singer's voice is powerful and shrieking with brutality. One of the coolest things on Dusk and Forever, is that the singer is using a lot of chorus on his vocals, which makes it sound all the more different.
Dusk and Forever is fast, brutal, melodic, and impressive. Almost a shame the band split up. They had a lot of potential.

Memorable tracks on Dawn of Flames: Forever Scarred, Dawn of Flames
Memorable tracks on At Dusk and Forever: Wounds, At Dusk and Forever, Never alone Again, and Red Hot

4 out of 5 stars Gates of Ishtar.......2001-05-07

If you like bands like AT THE GATES and IN FLAMES this band is definetly for you. Great riffs in every track and tight drumming keep all of these titles churning through your brain. A must have for anybody that loves to bang there head to great metal.
