      This bargain collection of showtunes is highlighted by the composition of Kurt Weill and the uniquely rolling tongue of Colette Lyons. I have a complaint about this compilation. It includes "Ol' Man River", but it excludes Al Jolson's rendition of "Ol' Man River." Otherwise, this collection gives you ample bang for your buck.

        The house band at Cafe Ouija, that's Medusa Cyclone. Distorted avant-pop over danceable beats, all with a touch of Fripp & Eno gone riff-serious. Tips of the hat to Neu and Syd B., reeeeeeverbbbb, drifts & drones, the Ventures gone eerie, the ominous heartbeats of machines--the only thing missing is perhaps a cover of the "Batman" theme. This semi-industrial transmission of psychedelia from Telstar blazes straight from space-rock city. You need this echoing through your brain-cylinder.

          This album is packed with quality psychobilly/gothabilly, and Mr. Badwrench is one of the best bands in the new psychobilly scene. The CD has a few flaws, such as the recording of the vocals (which is a bit weak) as well as the sound quality of the bass (it doesn't quite sound like a double bass, even though I have seen them live and know that is what they use); however, overall their sound is great! They have more of an old-school psychobilly sound, back when psychobilly bands were, musically, much more rockabilly influenced. It seems like the goal of most of the current psychobilly acts is to sound as much like thrash punk as possible while still getting away with the psychobilly label. Putting all this aside, however, the musicianship is tight, the song writing great, and the lyrics grimly humorous-- all characteristics which one should expect from a quality psychobilly band! Some highlights include Unholy Roller, From th' Cradle to th' Grave, Texas '39, and Gasoline. This will appeal to fans of the Cramps and the Meteors as well as lovers of deathrock, punk, garage, and rockabilly.

          These guys are great, mix rockabilly, psychobilly, hillbilly with a lot of dark subject matter. Rebel Yell is unbelievable, and so is Sweet Little girl. This CD will have ya drivin way too fast and drinkin way too much!
