5 out of 5 stars Tommy Shaw's Best.......2007-01-05

I'd have to say that this is an excelent release. On the song "Ocean", you can hear the band Damn Yankees getting back together. On other tracks, there's excellent, if not weirdly scary, effects on there. Get this!

5 out of 5 stars Not Styx, Not cheesy 80's rock, just great straight rock and roll!!!.......2006-12-07

A lot of these reviews complain about how this album doesn't sound like Styx, or doesn't sound like Tommy Shaw's earlier solo work, but I must say it is a very solid very honest album. Every song is jewel, my favorites include "Ocean", "Straight Down the Line", and "Stop Knockin". Some of the songs are great guitar driven anthems, others are softer more piano and string driven, but all show mastery of classic song structure, all are toetappers. It's a great meeting of alternative rock and classic rock, and should be appreciated as such, not as a work of some guy who started off in Styx in 1976. Great album.

3 out of 5 stars 7 Deadly Zens ~ Tommy Shaw.......2006-01-31

I bought this album because I thought it would sound like Styx. I was wrong, this doesn't sounds like Styx at all! Ofcours Tommy Shaw's voice does, but the music is totally different. The album starts with some great songs: 'Ocean' and 'Stop Knockin'. Those two songs are the best songs of the whole album. I liked this album very much the first times I heard it, but now this album really annoys me. The album isn't worth the price that I paid for it. I should have bought an album from an artist that doesn't disapoints me. An artist like Styx, Dennis DeYoung or DIO! I still give this album three stars, that is because it ain't that bad. I don't recommend this album to anyone. If you are a Styx fan like me, then you don't have to like this. This doesn't sound like Styx at all.

3 out of 5 stars Ted Nugent Again!.......2005-08-22

You might think this album is great. You might think this album is rubbish. You know what? You need it. Ted Nugent plays on it, that's why.

2 out of 5 stars Disapointing Shaw album.......2005-02-16

Im a Tommy shaw fan, but i must say this album kinda sucks. "A place to call my own" and "stop knockin" are good, but the rest are pretty lame. If you want to hear good work by Tommy, get Girls with Guns or What If. Both albums are far superior.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars What A Rockin' Album.......2004-02-26

This is, by far, one of the best solo works to be released not only by this artist, but also by others of similar genre. While Shaw has produced other great albums in the past, all of which stand up years after their release, this is, perhaps, the most innovative and challenging of them all. Each song has a unique blend of instrumentation, with plenty of hidden surprises to be discovered with each new listen. The bonus track is a nice addition to the import as well. It was well-written, well-produced- well-planned, and just plain ROCKS!!! It is definitely a must-have for all music lovers!

5 out of 5 stars The Best CD I Have Ever Heard.......2000-01-07

This CD will stand the test of time. Tommy has wrote, sung, and produced a masterpiece. You do not even have to like Styx to love this CD. CMC should have broke the bank to promote this CD. Thank you for the truly GREAT work Tommy. If you like classic Great Rock ( Styx fan or non Styx fan) purchase this CD. You will not be dissappointed. You won't take it out of your CD player.
