Erotica....Romance....I'd Like To Put You In A Trance..........2007-05-15
I absolutely love this album!!! I heard about it back in 1992 when I was in the 10th grade! I LOVED IT!!! This is really Madonna's best album. It kinda gives me memories of high school. This album rocks!!! My fave track is Deeper and Deeper!
"I could give you so much pleasure...".......2007-04-16
Erotica by Madonna is her most daring work to date (I guess you already knew that, duh!?) It's not her best album but it's creative, outrageous, and 100% unapologetic. Standout tracks include: Erotica, Bad Girl, Thief of Hearts, Rain, Bye Bye Baby, Fever, and Deeper and Deeper. What I do appreciate about this album is Madonna's songwriting, it's very strong and natural but her vocals are average (she mostly talks than sings on many tracks.) She makes up for it on Rain, her most beautiful and under-rated song of all-time. Madonna is a fearless woman and that's why I adore her, love her or hate her, there's no stopping this incredible force of nature!
Out of control? Not really.......2007-04-15
"Erotica" has to be one of Madonna's most underrated albums, and a lot of people turned on her after its release, which had nothing to do with the album's content, but that godawful "SEX" book.
The majority of the songs are nothing short of amazing, but there is one track missing from this version (and rightly so). The absolutely horrid "Did You Do It?", a remix of "Waiting", was not included here, a motion which I second. As a matter of fact, it should never have been released. Madonna hardly sings in it, and the rapping is so incredibly cheesy and disgusting.
I love tracks 2, 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, and 13 (or 14, depending on which version you're buying).
I hope you can forget the "SEX" experience and buy this. It's not as bad as you might think.
Madonna sells EROTICA as she starts a one-women sexual revolution.......2007-04-15
"Erotica" is Madonna's work of art, and in a body of work that has lasted twenty-five years that's no small accomplishment. This album came out at a perfect time in America when society was very sexually repressed and homophobic. Maybe this was a gift from Madonna to enlighten the masses. Why is this CD so perfect? Because it mixes just the right blend of pop, dance, and R&B to form what is "Erotica." When you hear this CD, please don't stand by for Madonna; you're gonna have to dance for her.
Her first failure as a musical artist........2006-09-05
I think I'm listening to a different album than the rest of the reviewers.
"Erotica" is Madonna's first, flat-out failure as a musical artist.
Something was changing when she added "Justify My Love" to her greatest hits album. OK...it had a killer, sinuous beat, and she moaned over it, more speaking than singing, and it had that video.
She dips into that well too many times here, without any of the sexy kick. She's visibly trying to be provocative and it doesn't come off that way.
'"Erotica" (the song) is a boring club jam with no melody: it's not a song, it's a groove. It's background. It's wallpaper.
"Fever" is another of Madonna's homages to old songs, and it's simply an average cover version. Better than karaoke, wouldn't fly on American Idol.
"Bye Bye Baby" starts off awesome...great, high-register, whispery vocals with an irresistible melody...but comes crashing down with an awful chorus and a production that just buries her voice (a common problem on this album).
"Deeper and Deeper" is the one song for the compilation CD. Madonna pops out another one of her classic club anthems that would also sound fine on a car radio. Her voice is in fine form; she's much better at singing those lower notes than she was back on "Like A Prayer." This one's a keeper.
"Where Life Begins", like so much of the rest of the album, is boring to the point of being unable to recall a note by the time the next song is through, like "Waiting", "Secret Garden", "Words" or "Why's It So Hard".
"Bad Girl" is a standard ballad, and done well, but the lyrics fail her. "Bad girl/drunk by six. Kissing some kind stranger's lips"...hello? That's an average college co-ed at a Friday night frat party. What's the big deal?
"Thief of Hearts" makes you think Stacey Q did this stuff better.
And that's a big problem, this set of overlong songs, for the most part, have been done better by lots of other people, including Madonna herself.
"Rain" is a much better ballad, and probably the other selection for your iPod.
"In This Life", a catastrophically boring song, is significant (for me) only because the melody is borrowed from a Gershwin piano piece, "Prelude #2."
I'm not a classical music lover by ANY stretch of imagination; the song was one of my recital pieces when I took piano lessons back in junior high.
"Did You Do It?" is just awful, a pointless rap with minimal Madonna in it. Why is it even here?
Up to this point in her career, this is her worst album. By far.

Erotica.......2006-09-29
This cd single is pretty good overall.
I love the song, and my 2 favorite mixes are:
1 WO 12"
2 Kenlou B-Boy Mix.
Good purchase for any fan of this song.
Erotica is a great song and remixes are not too bad either!.......2005-10-30
Erotica came out in 1992 and this is the first single to come off from this very underrated album. I admit I am not happy with the video because it was just really gross and it grossed me out. I think I even closed my eyes during a few scenes. I was like what was is she thinking, but anyway the song it actually pretty good. There are a few lines there are really disgusting to me and she does use the F word a few times and says some other very sexual and vulgar lines which I did not like, but like I said the song it quite good a lot better than Justify My Love. I never cared for that song because i never cared for the Madonna that went through her sexual phase. I hated it actually. I never understood why a talented woman with great music, videos, shows, and smartness would do something like that and go so far. I still love her anyway and I guess we all make mistakes in our lives so I forgive her.
Album Edit: This is the same version as you would find on her GHV2 with the regular version you hear the record scratching but with this version you hear the record scratching ( which is intended)while the music is already playing.
Kenlou B -Boy Mix" This mix starts off heavily on the drums and this is the version of the song she sang on the Girlie Show in 1993. It has a good melody to it and this version is extended a little as opposed to the one we hear on the Girlie Show.
WO 12": Sounds like a record spinning backword for a few seconds. She adds some extra lines that are not in the orginal version, I found it interesting. She says" I'm not a witch I'm just a love technician. "We can use the cage I've got a lot of rope I'm not full of rage I'm full up hope". Some other intersting lines too.
Underground Club Mix: Starts off with a shower sound or swooshing sound then you hear the piano sound play a technolike sound while she repeats parts of the song and then you hear the drums come in and the music gets really fast. " All over" is repeated too many times so the mix is too repetive. Overall the melody is still pretty good.
Masters At Work Dub: Similar to the Underground Club Mix the shower sounds comes in with the drums together. Then about 2.5 minutes in the mix the piano comes in and incorporates the techno sounds with the drums and "all over" is yet again repeated. This was is pretty danceable but too repetive like the previous mix.
Jeep Beats: Your hear Erotic in the back and then you hear romance. It's mostly the underground club music that domiantes this mix and it's not too bad. Her voice when she said Erotic a few times is sped up towards the end. Erotic is said a few more times then "give it up" is said 9 times.
Madonna's In My Jepp Mix: She sings the full version of Erotica with the same beats as in the previous track thats all and the beginning lyrics are the same but not said in the order as the orginal version. Overall this single is very good. The remixes are good track 4 and 5 aren't too bad but are too repetitive so I gave it 4 stars. The album version in it's full length is probably the best.
One of Madonna's best songs!.......2005-10-09

Lyrics:
"Erotica, romance
Erotica, romance
My name is Dita
I'll be your mistress tonight
I'd like to put you in a trance
If I take you from behind
Push myself into your mind
When you least expect it
Will you try and reject it
If I'm in charge
And I treat you like a child
Will you let yourself go wild
Let my mouth go where it wants to
Give it up, do as I say
Give it up and let me have my way
I'll give you love
I'll hit you like a truck
I'll give you love
I'll teach you how to... aahh
I'd like to put you in a trance
All over
Erotic, erotic
Put your hands all over my body
Erotic, erotic
Put your hands all over my body
Erotic, erotic
Put your hands all over my body
Erotic, erotic
Once you put your hand in the flame
You can never be the same
There's a certain satisfaction
In a little bit of pain
I can see you understand
I can tell that you're the same
If you're afraid, well rise above
I only hurt the ones I love
Give it up, do as I say
Give it up and let me have my way
I'll give you love
I'll hit you like a truck
I'll give you love
I'll teach you how to... aahh
I'd like to put you in a trance
All over
Erotic, erotic
Put your hands all over my body
Erotic, erotic
Put your hands all over my body
Erotic, erotic
Put your hands all over my body
Erotic, erotic
Erotica, romance
I'd like to put you in a trance
Erotica, romance
Put your hands all over my body
I don't think you know what pain is
I don't think you've gone that way
I could bring you so much pleasure
I'll come to you when you say
I know you want me
I'm not gonna hurt you
Just close your eyes
Erotic, erotic
Erotic, erotic
Erotic, erotic
Erotic, erotic
Put your hands all over my body
All over me
All over me
Erotica, romance
I'd like to put you in a trance
Erotica, romance
I like to do a different kind of... aahh
Erotica, romance
I'd like to put you in a trance

Only the one that hurts you
Can make you feel better
Only the one that inflicts the pain
Can take it away

Madonna - Erotica.......2005-08-08
This CD single features 7 versions of Madonna's #3 hit Erotica. They are:-
1. Album Edit (4:36). This is just a shorter version of the album version.
2. Kenlou B-Boy Mix (6:28). A nice version of the song. An alternative version was used on the Girlie Show: Live Down Under Tour (1993).
3. WO 12" (6:12). My favourite remix of Erotica! WO means William Orbit. A fantastic remix!
4. Underground Club Mix (4:57). A good remix. I absolutely love the hissing at the beginning of this version!
5. Masters At Work Dub (4:57). Not a bad remix, but not my favourite either. This may be the Maxi's weakest moment.
6. Jeep Beats (5:54). I like this version. They also use words from the original version of Erotica, called You Thrill Me.
7. Madonna's In My Jeep Mix (5:50). A nice closure for the Maxi.
I also recommend the Erotica album (1992). This is a good Maxi. People might think 7 mixes of the same song is too much, but if you're obsessed with the song, this is your moment!

Hours of Strange and Wonderful Enjoyment.......2006-07-19
This is a fine collection of the work of the "oddest of Bach's 20-odd children." The intros and commentary by Professor Peter Schickele (University of Southern North Dakota at Hoople) are as sidesplitting as the "music" itself. One learns, for example, that PDQ Bach is the only composer to have written for double reeds -- without the use of oboes or bassoons. . . . Just four of the high(low)lights on this 4-disc set include: "Concerto for Horn and Hardart," "Iphigenia in Brooklyn," "Unbegun Symphony," and "Pervertimento for Bagpipes, Bicycle, and Balloons." The PDQ Bach corpus is (fortunately) not exhausted with this box set, so there will likely be others, but this one is terrific and will provide hours of strange and wonderful enjoyment.
PDQ Bach lifts the standard of musical humor.......2005-09-16
Excellent 4 CD album from PDQ Bach. Although most music is meant to be humoresque, it is also brilliantly composed/'borrowed' from other composer. Nice item for music lovers that do have sense of, almost British, humor.
Essential for any classical fan with a sense of humor.......2005-08-09
This recording is a treasure trove of PDQ Bach music. It is good for many, many laughs, and even my husband who is not well-versed in classical enjoys it to bits. A must-own for anyone who loves the wit of Peter Schickele!
calamity in high C.......2003-04-10
if you cant sing and laugh at the same time just wait til he tries to do a Rap song. look for my favorite song of his "o little town of hackensack" for christmas time
Totally corny and totally classic!.......2002-11-29
What can I say? These attempts to poke fun at classical music and aficionados of the genre are silly, puerile, well-informed, beloved by said aficionados, and utterly hilarious. With a style of humor that is something like a cross between Garrison Keillor, Victor Borge and Monty Python, "Professor" Peter Schickele has been perpetrating the P.D.Q. Bach phenomenon since 1959. "Researching" and sometimes even dressing up as the alleged "last and least" of Johann Sebastian Bach's many children, Schickele has composed, conducted and performed send-ups of various composers and musical styles. This four CD set compiles some the best (or should I say "worst"?) of his efforts. Included are "The O.K. Chorale", "The Unbegun Symphony", "My Bonnie Lass, She Smelleth", "The Seasonings", "Schleptet in E flat minor", "Echo Sonata for Two Unfriendly Groups of Instruments", "Concerto for Horn and Hardart", and my two personal favorites: "Beethoven's Fifth Symphony" (with commentary by sports analysts discussing the "competition" between the conductor and the orchestra) and the hilarious cantata "Iphigenia in Brooklyn". I can remember my father rolling on the floor in hysterics upon first hearing "Iphigenia", and anyone who is familiar with the Baroque oratorio style of such ubiquitous works as Handel's "Messiah" or J.S. Bach's cantatas will undoubtedly howl too at all the "in jokes". If you're serious about Baroque or classical music, do yourself a favor--let your hair down, get un-serious, and listen to these CDs every once in a while. And may every genre of music be fortunate enough to have a "P.D.Q. Bach" invented for it!

Blessed Be!.......2004-09-12
I heard Inkubus Sukkubus by accident on Web-radio one day ...and it was one of those rare life-altering events. I was a pure Rock n' Roll Guy for most of my life, but hearing the pristinely pure and yet somehow tormented voice of the incredibly beautiful and obscenely talented lead singer Candia, I was hooked. Some say that a picture is worth a 1000 words... well tangentially, I say this woman's voice cannot be described in words...it simply left me speechless... I bought all their albums (imports included) within the week and have told everyone I know... I am planning a trip to the UK just so I can see them perform...They are just that good...
What Makes Inkubus Sukkubus so amazing are their lyrics and instruments are fantastic as well...so there is much more to this band than the stunningly hot and super-cool lead singer who I now feel like praising all over again... (Man she is so talented its makes it even more of a sin that Brittany spears is famous and Candia is not...) But back to the band... They really are amazing... They experiment with different production techniques and sounds so that no two songs are the same despite all having a strong pagan/wiccan influence... You can download some of their songs from their Website... please give them a try... you wont be disappointed...
I cannot over-emphasize how much you need to buy this album (and all the other Inkubus Sukkubus Albums) If you are a young Goth you likely have them already... but even white collar lawyer-schmucks like me can benefit from the mind expanding experience this bands music provides...I thought I was clever before...but I have learned so much from this band... My life has been changed for the better... and yours will be too if you let this goddess sing for you...
Thanks for everything Inkubus Sukkubus... Blessed Be!

pure stupidity.......2000-03-29
Well i could kick myself for buying such garbage. Having just enjoyed Erotic sound effects, I thought this would be just as good but I was wrong. The woman in this one is annoying to no end and there is no variety whatsoever. Its just her, moaning and groaning and giggling; give me a break; Some nonsexual tracks are so redundant I don't even know why they included them. One or two tracks were okay but I can only take so much of the same thing over and over again; People who make such CDs can do so much more with sounds and settings but they always seem to fall back on cliches; Is there no imagination left? I wish Erotic sound effects would put out a second disk; if you want erotic audio that will give you a jolt, buy that one. Don't even get this one for a laugh. END
un tas de bêtises..........2000-02-23
How to respond to stupidity? I find this pretentious, puerile, self-indulgent, self-pitying, irresponsible.
Listen to this if you feel like impregnating someone you claim to love--and then vanish.
This is something that does not need to exist, a pure waste of space.

Album Description
Performance artist Juliana Luecking interviews women in NYC clubs, on the streets of San Francisco, and in the woods at the Michigan Women's Festival. The interviewees are street-smart, sex-radical, and fetish-happy. The result: a ground-breaking documentary, an artistic and unbelieveably candid look at lesbian sex. DreamCumGoDown boasts absolute authenticity.

Simply the Best.......2000-05-31
This is an amazing record. I've bought four - one for myself and three for friends over the past couple of years. Not only is this CD real, funny, sexy, honest, and smart, it's also very tastefully done with amazing cover art and inside information - Juliana even defines the terms many of the women on the album use! (Do you know what tribadism is?) Definitely buy this CD and listen to it twice - you won't be disappointed. (And, if that's not enough to convince you to buy "DreamCumGoDown," Juliana donates 10% of the album's profits to lesbian community projects.)

Multiple-personality opera.......2007-01-20
If you've never experienced the music of P.D.Q. Bach, the album THE INTIMATE P.D.Q. BACH is a great place to start. Professor Peter Schickele (of the University of Southern North Dakota, at Hoople) is a master of the comic lyric. His verse is easily as complex and witty as Tom Lehrer's best. Additionally, Schickele is so deeply steeped in the classical genre he can facilely twist, combine and parody music from any era, and with remarkable results.
"Bargain-counter" tenor John Ferrante had a voice and talent like no other. The initial success of Schickele's efforts are due in large part to Ferrante's unique vocal contributions.
"Hansel And Gretel And Ted And Alice" is a superlative work-- a one act comic opera with seven characters, performed by Ferrante and Schickele, along with a solo piano. The play is by turns jolly, convoluted, silly, "shocking," but always melodious. In the opera's finale, the two performers are required to sing FOUR parts almost simultaneously, a feat complicated by Schickele's deftly donning and removing a wolf's head to play his two characters. Visually, this piece was an hysterical sight.
What can be said about the "O.K. Chorale"? The calliope-four-hands has never sounded as sweet.
The intro to the "Erotica Variations" is nearly as hilarious as the music itself. That the instruments involved were "banned" is a gift to us all!
"The Art Of The Ground Round" is the one selection from this album that everyone seems to remember. This is due in large part to punnish and impudent lyrics-- and our natural love of Row, Row, Row your boat-type group sings.
THE INTIMATE P.D.Q. BACH is highly recommended for all classical music lovers, fans of madcap comedy, and anyone who happens to live in Hoople, North Dakota.
TOTAL RUNNING TIME -- 50:14
5 stars not enough!.......2005-08-11
My brother brought this home from college 25+ years ago. I know most of the songs by heart, especially the Ground Round. No matter how many times I hear it I find myself laughing and groaning along with the audience. The studio albums, while good, just don't have the zing of the live ones.
Hilarious.......2005-07-09
Peter Shickele has made a career out of lampooning classical music. On numerous albums, he has "performed" the works of P.D.Q. Bach, the mythical lost son of J.S. Bach. What all of his pieces have in common is that they take a perfectly good piece of classical music and make a complete mockery out of it, usually with hilarious results. This album is no exception
"Hansel and Gretel and Ted and Alice" is billed as an opera in one unnatural act. It is silly and irreverent. It is also fun.
"The O.K. Chorale" is a lampoon of "The Sheep May Safely Graze" with "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" and others thrown in for comic effect. It is played on "calliope".
"Erotica Variations" is lifted from Beethoven's "Heroica". It features some rather obscure instruments that, hopefully, will not have anything else written for them.
"The Art of the Ground Round" is one of my all time favorites. It is a series of rounds or canons. As the voices start to overlap, a completely new set of lyrics appears.
These "compositions" may offend serious music lovers. For any one with a sense of humor about pretentious music it is a must.
Ferrante's fruity-tooty duty is his dooby dooby doo.......2004-11-16
The GROUND ROUND tunes are obviously the stand-out items. But I regret that they were done with minimalist arrangements. These mini-masterpieces should've been done with lavish orchestrations. And without a live audience. (Schickele didn't have the common sense to eschew live audiences until MISSA HILARIOUS.)
GROUND ROUND's 3 tenors are John Ferrante, John Nelson, & The Schick. And every time I hear it, I come to it with an automatic prejudice that favors Ferrante's singing. But then I get subjected to John Nelson's luscious voice and it causes me to reconsider my favoritism. (Schickele's voice is 2000 light-years from contention.)
A must have for PDQ Bach fans.......2000-03-01
This is definately my favorite of all the PDQ Bach recordings. A classic (pardon the pun) that will have even those of you who are not particularly fond of classical music, wanting more. The "Art of the Ground Round" is brilliant as well as the opereta "Hansel and Gretal and Ted and Alice"
