      While I was living in England (I'm American) I bought a compilation CD of "Britpop" music and the song "This Feeling" was on the CD. It was love at first listen. It is probably the most beautiful rock song I've ever heard. I tried to get this album and even though I was living in England I could not find it. I finally found it here at Amazon last year and boy was it worth the wait.

      This is the type of music that just grabs your emotions and twists them. You close your eyes and get transported to another landscape. If you are into Britpop and/or emo then get this album.

      I came across Puressence by accident and have been thankful for that day ever since! Hailing from North England, this band follows the tradition of the great British bands before them! This record was their first that I had a chance to listen to and have since got the rest of their material. This is by far their best record and will spend many days in your cd player. Passionate songwriting, powerful hooks, amazing climaxes and wonderful production make this a must have for any music connoiueseur!

        all i can say is that this badn can blow any other so called "brit pop" band out of the water.

        This is a band I saw for the first time about 4 years ago at late night MTV, the video was THIS FEELING. Puressence is the kind of band that is listened by selected ears, by people that can appreciate The Beatles,U2, Oasis, Blur, The Verve or The Cure.
        My girlfriend got me this album for my birthday and it is part of my most precious possesions

        Being in US, I've never even heard of the group Puressence. I actually purchased this CD for the song "Fire" which was featured in the final scene of British film "Killing Time" which I enjoyed very much. But the rest of the album didn't disappoint either. Great stuff.

        There is no doubt that this band would appeal to fans of bands that use the soft/loud dynamic style [or the misused shoegazing term], such as 'Ride', 'The Catherine Wheel' or 'Slowdive'. But I think fans of U.S. melodic post hardcore [emocore another misused term] bands like 'Sunny Day Real Estate' or 'Juno' will love this cd as well. It is both pretty and vicious in nature, in short it will rock your butt off. Oh and the guys from 'Placebo' should listen to it to hear what a real talented band sounds like.

        While the blurb initially appearing on Amazon.com said vocals take the center stage here, of all Puressence albums this is the LEAST focused on James Mudrizcki's tremolo vocal, which is embedded more in the mix than ever before. It strikes a more electronic and less lively tone than 1998's Only Forever, which may initially dissapoint some fans of that album. In fact, She's Gotten Over You is the only track that recalls the previous album's melodic, soaring desperation (you can almost see Mudrizcki standing on a cliff singing into a hurricane). But fear not; there is a lot going on in the other 11 (or 12 if you get the special import) tracks -- the emotional depth and musical inventiveness that you expect from Puressence are still there, and they're experimenting with new sounds -- from the New Order style drum patterns on several tracks to the harmonies and horns on How Does it Feel, to the more ambient mix on Make Time to the slow groove and kitsch Chinesey piano on the title track. When I say it's a grower, take note that nearly all of it's grown on me within 24 hours of buying it. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because it's still growing, so watch this space.
