As stated in the review for "live" in Cleveland 86, the remastered sound is worth having, even if you own the orignal sound of each piece. Edgar has "remastered" sound, and like the matched set, this Brighton set has a few different pieces, so if your into the sound & the band, you'll want to own these for yourself. Plus they are numbered as a collectors edition.COOL!
You'll always go back & listen to the "remastered" sound of Scuba Scuba, AWESOME WORKS!

On a crystal clear English summer's evening in 2001, Norman Cook played a celebrated DJ set in front of an estimated 30,000 loved-up Brightonians, generating two hours of typically hedonistic party mayhem. It's these two hours--or, at least, an edited version of them--that make up Cook's first mix album in ages and a perfect souvenir of the night now known as "Normstock." Soundwise, the album sees Senor Fatboy doing what he does best--mashing up thumping dance floor favorites with a sweat-drenched party panache. Those expecting classic big beat belters are in for a shock, though, since Mr. Slim is more into straight-up house and techno these days--albeit with a party twist. So, we get some of 2001's biggest records--Basement Jaxx's "Where's Your Head At?," Raven Maze's "The Real Life," a couple from Santos--alongside a smattering of classics (Leftfield's "Phat Planet," an anthemic version of Underworld's "Born Slippy") and the off Fatboy number to keep the regulars happy. The result is a hot, sweaty, grimy mix that captures the sound and feel of Norman Cook's DJ sets, even if it does feel a touch out of date. --Matt Anniss

4 out of 5 stars Really awesome, great CD.......2004-05-13

I bought this CD 5 months ago in an impulse. I just saw it on the shelf, and since I had recently started to love electronic music and had heard so much about Fatboy Slim,, I decided to buy it and try out my musical interest. The first impression I had wasn't a very good one, but that was before I actually developped my love for electronic music. However, after some days, some songs started to make me move, and i realised that the CD was awesome. The beginning is excellent, with the hybrid Born Slippy/Right here, Right now, which is the perfect opening for this kind of CD, it gives you the impression that you should get ready. Then follows Austin's Groove which is one of my favorites, among The Groovy Thang, The Real Life (I love that one) and Where's your head at?. I would have taken some songs out of the list, but none of them are bad at all; it simply makes perfect harmony. I think that the moment after Where's your head at? where the police start chasing people off the water should have taken out, and i would also complain about the pops and clicks in the CD, but that's because it's a live recording off vynil and can't be avoided. I seriously recommend this CD, because I don't regret at all having bought it, and it's always on top of my CD stack.

2 out of 5 stars Quit your day job, Norman........2004-01-06

Put 35,000 people on a beach. Have a celebrity DJ play music at them for an hour. Release the result as a new album.

This album isn't really anything like any of Fatboy Slim's other live sets - in that it's not actually very good. It starts off with a nice, slow mix of Born slippy, progressing into a nicely funky remix of Right here, right now... and goes downhill from there. Vocal samples that are louder than the music playing are randomly dropped into the mix and repeated for minutes at a time, the sound stops entirely for ten minutes or so while Norman mumbles things at the crowd ("get the hell away from the water!"), and half of what's played seems to be either from Halfway between the gutter and the stars or You've come a long way, baby.

However, I don't like Fatboy Slim all that much. His "K-Roc solid state" mix is a better example of what he's capable of.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2003-02-24

Although the music style has changed a bit,(more house) it still is a great album by an excellente DJ.

3 out of 5 stars Solid debut album.......2007-05-19

1986's Young, Wild and Free was the debut album from Canadian hard rockers Brighton Rock. Unlike some of the high quality melodic rock bands active in Canada at the time (April Wine, Honeymoon Suite, and Triumph for example), Brighton Rock played fairly straightforward Hollywood-style hair metal. Gerry McPhee's abrasive vocal style gave the band a Cinderella/Britny Fox sound.

Young, Wild and Free is a decent, if not terribly original hard rock album. We Came to Rock is a pretty cool track, though nowhere near as good as the Pretty Maids song of the same name. Likewise the song Assault Attack pales in comparison to Michael Schenker's identically named track.

Young, Wild and Free is a perfectly decent album, but when you consider the sheer volume of amazing "hair metal" albums that were also released that year (Slippery When Wet, Look What the Cat Dragged In, The Final Countdown, Night Songs, etc.), it really doesn't hold up to the competition. Unless you grew up listening to Brighton Rock, this album will only interest die-hard 80's rock fans.

3 out of 5 stars Brighton Rock polishes a turd........2004-03-31

While Echo and the Bunnymen were busy writing dark, cool, beautiful albums, Brighton Rock was probably out getting perms, or getting laid in their van, or buying women's clothes.
There is something both amazing and hilarious about the album "We Came to Rock." All the songs are incredibly formulaic, but it is a formula that makes you raise your fist in the air and wonder how this album happened. With song titles like "Assault Attack," and "Can't Wait for the Night," you can only imagine the kind of tools the band members must have been. Still, there is a bit of mind blowing talent somewhere too. Not just in the sense that all of the players are proficient musicians, but now and then there are beautiful moments. The song "We Came to Rock" is a classic cheese metal ballad with over growled consents and wanky, masturbatory guitar lines. Then, cutting through the complete cheesiness are driving string instruments out of nowhere. My response was to wonder who was behind the subtle and interesting moves like that, but I suppose I don't care. They came to rock, and I came to laugh at how ridiculous, awesome, and over the top they are.

A truly hard rocking Canadian Band. They play excellent ballads also. I'm still looking for Take a Deep Breath, and having NO luck. I wish they were still around.

3 out of 5 stars If you are into the 80's, you'll like this........1999-08-04

Brighton Rock song Young, Wild and Free is the perfect teenage anthem. It is about just being yourself and enjoying life and not caring what the world thinks. And Can't Wait For The Night is a very romantic ballad. It talks about aguy who had a disagreement with his love, and now he has finally come to his senses, and how he can't wait to show her how he has changed. So that he can hold her in his loving arms again. That is my version of the song. Young, Wild and Free, Can't wait for the night, Nobodys' Hero, and Change of Heart are the best songs.

4 out of 5 stars Final Studio Album.......2006-08-05

1991's Love Machine was the third and final studio album from Canadian hard rockers Brighton Rock. In case you couldn't tell from the album's budget cover art, Brighton Rock played the kind of hard rock/hair metal that was so popular at the time. Stylistically they were very similar to Dangerous Toys or Britny Fox with some Warrant/Faster Pussycat elements thrown in for good measure.

Love Machine is a decent, straightforward hard rock album with plenty of swagger, and is very much a product of its time. It's heavy at times, but never quite reaches metal territory. It's also fairly melodic, but it's not AOR either. Unfortunately I don't hear a lot that makes it stand out from what was at the time a very large hard rock crowd, though the live cover of Eric Clapton's "Cociane" was a nice touch.

Love Machine a good album if you're into this kind of music, but there were plenty of better albums released that year (the debut album by fellow Canadians Von Groove immediately comes to mind).

NOTE: Despite what the item description states, I can't see this album appealing to Pantera fans except perhaps as comic relief.

This CD is the best intro to Mercury Ensemble I can imagine. A professional strings group based in Denver, 20th and 21st century music is what they do best. Disclosure: one of the bassists on this CD (Robin Olschner) is a friend of mine. The best piece is Philip Glass' Arioso; Naomi Sue Smith's violin solo is beyond wonderful. Her breathtakingly precise rendering together with the understatedly lush low strings are fabulous. Howard Treibitz's Agnostic does not have a strong start, but stay with it until the Andante, where the tenor hits his stride and merges with the choir and strings for a thoughtful and beautiful work. I prefer some of Treibitz's other works, but this is not a bad introduction. The other pieces on this CD are worth listening to (particularly the Orawa), but the Glass and Treibitz pieces alone are worth the price. The clear, crisp sound of Mercury is ideal for this type of music, and their pioneering musical spirit shines through.
