Cynical types will accuse Disney of milking the "greatest" concept until it's drier than Tinkerbell's fairy dust ("Supercalafragilisticexpealidocious," "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Da," and "Heigh Ho" were hits off of Vol. 1; "Bare Necessities," "It's a Small World," and "Some Day My Prince Will Come" stole the show on Vol. 2), but a glimpse of this installment's track listing is all it'll take to squash their suspicions. Once again running reverse-chronologically, Vol. 3 opens with Jonatha Brooke's gorgeously achy ballad "I'll Try," from 2002's arguably not-so-great Return to Neverland, and gradually reaches back through the years to re-raise the curtain on Toy Story 2 ("When She Loved Me," performed by Sarah McLachlan), The Lion King ("Can You Feel the Love Tonight"), Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews's classic "A Spoonful of Sugar"), Pinocchio ("Give a Little Whistle"), and a bundle of treasured others, bottoming out at 1933's "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf" from The Three Little Pigs. Vol. 3 is not without its weak moments--would a G-rated movie-goers' poll produce Beauty and the Beast's "Gaston" or The Hunchback of Notre Dame's "Topsy Turvy" on a hits list? Seems unlikely. Still, the bulk of these tracks are, as the included Little Mermaid song goes, "Part of Your World," and the spread of decades they represent proves their staying power. Don't expect Disney to latch the lid on its inexhaustible archives until a dozen or so of these records, each as strong as the next, beckon you back for more. --Tammy La Gorce

Disney's greatest hits, volum 3.......2007-05-13
This is one of the better volums for kids and for those who are
above 18 but still have some kid in them
Timeless Disney Music.......2007-05-07
Nothing brings sweet recollection of Disney movies like hearing the wonderful songs. In an age where there so much music with no redeeming qualities, these Disney CDs are priceless. Wonderful for the entire family to listen to around the house or in the car while traveling. We can't help but sing along. We love that these are the original tracks from the movies! Wonderful! We now have all three volumes.
Disney songs are the best.......2006-03-18
I love the songs on this volume. I'll Try by Jonatha Brooke is such an amzing somg. I especially bought this CD fort that song but, was pleasantly surprsed by the rest of the playlist.
Great Disney Music.......2006-02-21
I have bought the first 2 volumes of Disney's Greatest Hits and the 3rd volume doesn't disapoint. My 2 young children love to listen to this CD and talk about the movies that they come from. A definate must have!
Not as good as Vol 1 and Vol 2.......2005-09-11
This Disney CD represents the "leftovers" that didn't make it on Vol 1 and Vol 2 of this series. Although it has some of my favorites, I don't listen to the entire CD often. Disney could have done a better job of editing the which sound files should make the cut on this one. Still, it's nice to have all 3 CDs.

Join the March!.......2005-12-14
Ah a Nine Inch Nails Single/Halo from the days of the Downward Spiral. The Downward Spiral is my favorite Nine Inch Nails album so I figured I would like the singles and expand my halo collection. We have 5 songs, one of which being March of the Pigs, two remixes of Reptile, a March of the Pigs remix and a new track titled a Violet Fluid. Keep In mind, this single was released before the actual Downward Spiral album, so it's rather odd having two remixes of Reptile, which at the time would have been a song no one had heard.
1. March of the Pigs 10/10: The song later to be put on the album, it's a wonderful classic in my opinion.
2. Reptilian 8/10: Why is it that most NIN remixes drag on much longer than the original? Usually that is what ends up killing the songs but this one is an exception for the most part.
3. All the Pigs, All Lined Up 5/10: this remix has a few good parts, but overall it's a failure in comparison.
4. A Violet Fluid 8/10: Instrumental time! It sounds like it would have been a B-side to the song A Warm Place. It's a nice song and I always enjoy listening to it, but it is a little bit short.
5. Underneath the Skin 5/10: More so an instrumental remix with samples thrown in.
Well that's Halo number seven for you. If you are looking for a better Single from the Downward Spiral days I would suggest picking up a copy of the Closer to God Single instead. For those new to Nine Inch Nails, I suggest picking up a copy of the Downward Spiral or their Broken EP and then start from there. For Halo fanatics, though, this is mandatory. Not essential but definitely interesting. Hoped this helped.
march of the pigs/reptile (reconstructions).......2005-11-07
The single that launched the Downward Spiral, once you start down the dark path, no turning back. March of the Pigs is the opener to a five track single. Starts with an awesome drum intro, kicks in with bass and mayhem. Reptilian, track two is a remix of TDS's Reptile. Great riveting, gut wrenchin' sounds and bass. All The Pigs, All Lined Up, MOTP remix, at almost 8 minutes, it's the clashing of the pigs, almost slaughter-like, parts of this song will usually find it's way into the MOTP song on stage and in concerts. A violet fluid is the shortest track on this disc but it hits the heart, whether it's a remix of 'Pigs' or 'Reptile', or it's its' own piece of music, fits the realm nicely. Underneath the Skin is yet another remix of Reptile, with more rivetting and wrenching scratches, beats and piledriving sounds. Hard hitting from tracks one to five. Chris Vrenna era drum style. produced with help by Flood (1994)
A surprisingly good NIN single.......2005-09-30
Of the "downward spiral" era singles, while this was not as good as one of the singles that came later, it is very good. It was a good taster for that album and includes the menacing, excellent original. It's one of NIN's greatest songs, and perhaps one of the greatest I've heard. I especially like the intensity, and even when it goes in synth-programmed mode of the "all the pigs are all lined up part", then it gets into a piano part asking, "now doesn't it make you feel better?" Indeed. Then it builds up to do the same again.
The b-sides are all really good, too. Two of the remixes are of "Reptile", both actually kind of entertaining to listen to, and are even longer than the original song!. Then there's also the somewhat filler track "A Violet Fluid" which is somewhat interesting in spite that, plus a remix of "Pigs", which is a quite good track in its remixed form.
Definitely one worth picking up. Oh, and the "downward spiral" re-issue is similarly good.
Great single, but partially on "The Downward Spiral" reissue.......2005-05-25
A good single somewhat undervalued by the recent release of the deluxe edition of "The Downward Spiral", "March of the Pigs" was the leadoff from that album. In addition to the album mix of "March of the Pigs", it adds an extended remix ("All the Pigs, All Lined Up"), a small loop track ("A Violet Fluid"), both of which appear on the deluxe edition, and two mixes of "Reptile" ("Reptilian" and "Underneath the Skin") by Dave Ogilvie.
"March of the Pigs" itself is a great song, breakneck beats, powerful distorted guitars, and a venomous vocal fading into its bizarre piano break. The remix I'm moody about (its what Reznor's been playing live for years)-- essentially a slightly extended take on the track is followed by repitious vocal lines over drum beats as a coda. It works pretty well, but its a bit too long. "A Violet Fluid" is an interesting little drum snippet, it ends after just a minute, before it has a chance to get boring.
The two "Reptile" mixes are the real value here as they're unreleased elsewhere-- "Reptilian" is an extended version of the album cut, it works well in a long form, seven and a half minutes is a long time to drag on a piece, but it doesn't feel that way. The instrumental edit fares well too-- it certainly helps illustrate how far Reznor has come as an arranger from the almost minimalist days of "Pretty Hate Machine" and "Broken".
A limited value these days, but if you're a fan, you'll probably want the "Reptile" remixes.
One of the Better singles released from the NIN.......2004-01-27
This, the first single, actually preceeding The Downward Spiral, is a nice little introduction to what The Downward Spiral would later come to sound like. Contents:
1. March of the Pigs - March of the Pigs. Y'know, booty beats and marching pigs. 4/5
2. Reptilian - An interesting remix of one of the best songs on The Downward Spiral. This one's got all kinds of crazy bleeps and bloops and weird computer malfunctioning sounds. The best Reptile remix. 4/5
3. All the Pigs, All Lined Up - Basically just a stripped down version of March of the Pigs made to sound like a live performance I suppose. It's okay ..I guess. 2/5
4. A Violet Fluid - A great instrumental piece which is almost dance-y, quite strange. I like it. 3/5
5. Underneath the Skin - Another remix of Reptile. I actually prefer the first remix of it on this EP, but whatever floats your boat. 3/5
A nice collectors item, but I wouldn't recommend it to new listeners.

This album I got at Disneyland Paris. I saw it and just knew that I had to have it. It's classic disney tunes in the style of the great composers. And it really do remind of them. As a lover of classic music and disney music, this couldn't be a better album.
A Disney Classic!.......2000-03-09
This cd is a great introduction for little ones into the world of classical music. My children ages 6 and 4 have "worn out" their first copy of this lively cd. If you enjoy disney music, this is a must for your children's music library.

Delightful Disney Music.......2007-03-28
These Disney tunes done in the style of classic composers are so much fun. Children and adults alike will enjoy these songs over and over.
Uncle Walt would be quite honored!.......2006-12-20
For many a baby boomer, Walt Disney meant animation. But, besides that, music played an important part in the telling of the story. So interested in music was the animator that he fashioned one of his greatest triumphs ("Fantasia") on the works of the great masters.
Well, Donald Frasier and a bevy of musicians have compiled a wonderful collection of interpretations of familiar Disney tunes, many from Walt's time, along with a few latter day compositions.
Every selection is a winner, destined to make the listener reflect and recall the films from which they came. And if one is familiar with composer whose musical style is "copied" here, the album is a treasure.
Fabulous CD.......2006-10-04
Being a classical music connoisseur, I often listen to my local public classical radio station to hear the works of the great composers of old and of today. One day the station played "Colors of the Wind" and announced it was from this CD. I fell in love with it. I am a huge Disney fan who has over 350 Disney songs on my iPod. Pretty much the only music I listen to is either classical or Disney. And having them combined makes this CD euphoria for the ears.
Each song is in the style of a different classical composer, and usually in the style of one of their more specific songs. One with a trained ear will hear chords and melodies in almost perfect similitude of the original.
I can listen to this CD over and over and never get bored. How could you be bored when you're hearing all of your favorite old Disney songs in a new exciting way?
sleeping to Disney.......2006-07-30
I am really pleased that there is a classical music cd that has only Disney classics so that I can play them for my infant daughter while she sleeps. We are big Disney fans and it's fun to play these instead of the regular classical music. They sound just like the original songs. I would have given 5 stars but I wish they would have had all instrumental music, one of the songs has a choir singing, but it still sound good.
this is a treasure.......2003-05-11
Disney music is always uplifting. Classical music is beautiful. Combine the two - and you get THIS! "Colors of the Wind" is glorious, followed by the enchanting title track. "Beauty and the Beast" is true to the romance of the original. "The Second Star to the Right" is magical. Everything is awesome - and flawless. I initially bought this because I love The Main Street Electrical Parade music, and that is definiely a highlight here - but so are ALL the other songs! This is GOOD STUFF! It is so excellent that it can be a very beneficial introduction to classical music - for kids AND adults.

I saw a live production of this show in Phoenix and have such vibrant memories of it! And this CD is a perfect way for this tremendous creative effort to live on and on. A great addition to your collection -- anyone's collection!
THIS CD RULES.......2001-03-02
I personally love this cd, though i am not gay. All of the songs are good, something you rarely find in a newer musical (for instance: Jekyll and Hyde) and all the actors are great. I especially like the one who sings the Torch songs. Some of the funniest songs are "You've Got To Stay In The Game" which has the male actors dressed up as singing and dancing playing cards, "Not All Man" which has a centaur who doesn't realize he is a centaur wondering "Why do they say I'm not all man?", and especially the Carol Ann Knippel skit, a struggling small-town musical theatre lover, who runs the Melody Barn, and decides to write her own musicals. "Annie 3" cracks me up. "Be a cockeyed oculus! Whistle a happy song! Everythings comin' up....Crysanthemums!" Overall I'd say this is one of my new favorite shows, and you should buy it RIGHT NOW, and if you like this one, buy WHOOP-DEE-DOO!, also conceived by Crabtree, but clearly not as good as WHEN PIGS FLY, though very good as well.
An up in the air musical that never comes down.......2001-01-30
Witty, imaginative, thought provoking, humable- in a word unforgetable. The world lost a brilliant talent with the death of Howard Crabtree. An of course big Bravos to Dick Gallagher and Mark Waldrop and the entire cast. I can't say which is my favorite number because all of them are great, but special mention to The title number, Laughing Matters, and Sam and Me. Get this cd - you won't be disappointed.
This CD is a must for your collection!.......2000-09-21
This CD is absolutely fabulous! The lyrics are sharp and witty, and the score is a perfect complement. This is Howard Crabtree at his finest.

Just a thought..........2006-07-30
It's just so refreshing to hear people defend an album they like in spite of critics/wannabe professional blowhards... this is an exceptional album, and even though every 'professional' audiophile is enamored with it and a few of the 'permanently pissed' don't care for it shouldn't dissuade people from getting it. If it wasn't for the necessity of balance within the right of free speech, sometimes I'd just like to remove the bad reviews altogether. Of course, that would mean every album was great, and that's obviously not the case.
Just read all the reviews with a grain of salt, and try to pick out the saner reviewers from the nutjobs.
I liked the album. So which am I?

Magical mystery tour.......2006-04-21
Like the highly acclaimed previous Shaker offering "K", this album is a mystical romp through psychedelia marked by an intoxicating afterglow for the listener. The production value on this record is superior to "K". A riff on one of the songs was given to Mills by George Harrison who was close chums with the Shakers as was David Gilmour of Pink Floyd (the album was recorded on his houseboat/studio). For those unfamiliar with the Shakers think Beatles meets Grateful Dead meets Pink Floyd meets Jimi Hendrix meets the Moody Blues meets Ravi Shankar forming an indescribable heady brew sure to leave you floating.
This record has been trashed in some quarters by people who hate the indian influence and the mystical assuredness of the Shaker sound. They find it pretentious. Too bad, different strokes for different blokes I say. Like one or more reviewers mentioned here there is a mistaken idea that Crispian Mills is some kind of pretentious jerk. This false meme was created by some U.K reviewers who write for big publications in the U.K and who simply hate the way the Shakers songs are so in your face "I have the answers to the mysteries of the ages". That's why they came down so heavily on Mills, not because of Mills personality it's because of his so called arrogant lyrics and musical style, he is in fact a charming very funny bloke. Also the haters came down heavily on Mills when in an interview he mentioned that the swastika is a mystical yantra from India signifying good fortune that was stolen from Hinduism by the nasties and that he wanted to reclaim it, he then joked about wanting to do a concert with swastikas on fire surrounding the stage. This blew the mind of some U.K scribblers who then labled Mills a nasty, go figure.
A Rousing, Anthemic Festival.......2006-04-10
Some albums are sneaky-dangerous: you're afraid to play them too much because they're so good and you don't want burnout, you want a friend for life; if you're able to set them aside from regular rotation, then every time you hear them you'll want to play them twice. This is one such record. I'm glad to see it's still a respectable ranking on Amazon. Why in Shiva's name did they break up?
Intoxicating rock with a sprinkling of Indian mysticism.......2006-03-15
What's again very obvious in this Kula Shaker offering, is that again, they seemed to have recorded their bits and parts, then bundled it all up in holy cloth and let this mix soak up all Indian flavours as they passed through the un-eco-friendly country.
Kula Shaker is a British Band that openly confesses of being heavily influenced by heady doses of Indian mysticism and mythology (one look at their first album 'K' will immediately corroborate the confession...'K'...'K' for Krishna too? Hmmmmmm).
What's commendable about the band is that they fuse Indian elements so seamlessly, it kinda grows on you...even for music enthusiasts like me who find it very difficult to appreciate music emanating from the same set of instruments! Sitar, sarangi, bamboo flute, shehnai, sarangi...wud I beleive it? With Kula Shaker....hell yes!
Their second album, 'Peasants, Pigs and Astronauts' emulates the same technical, recording wizardry and musical styles like its predecessor, 'K'.
Ok, before I start reviewing this album, I suggest you already decide to buy it. Go, go!
According to Crispian Mills (the most charismatic of the band, whose vocals are a treat to listen), the meaning of the new album is more or less with reference to India. The title according to him might have different interpretations (which was his objective primarily), but hear this one and you'll have to agree. The 'peasant' signifies the majority of India's population that live below the poverty line, 'pigs' signify the atmosphere / a reflection of the environment in which we live in, and 'astronauts' signify the ambitious plans, we as a nation harbour, to attain nuclear power status and be one among the develpoed nations, never mind the lack of basic infrastructure. Well, I'll subscribe to this view anyday.
Now to the songs...
If you've loved the first album, there's no reason why this won't go down well with you. The opening three songs are all mystical-rock compositions that have intermittent tablas and sarangi's that generously give you breathing space. 'Great Hosannah', 'Mystical Machine Gun' and 'S.O.S.' revolve around the impending doom of the world about to end abruptly (I think) even as we sleep peacefully, and the feeling of frustration when exposed to the mediocrity around us. Pretty strong words too, wonderfully worded again...
S.O.S.
"...
Blood transfusion, revolution
Satellites on Mars
Man became the spawn of Satan
Drivin' around in cars
----
I read the news but
The news didn't fascinate
I stayed at home, watched
The media ejaculate.
..."
Listen to Crispian sing 'Mystical Machine Gun'. It's bound to get you really intoxicated. I love this guy!
He gets even more madira-zonked on songs like 'I'm still here', 'Shower Your Love (great shehnai accompaniment by a guy called Durvesh)' and 'Timeworn' (the ending shehnai really sounds like a bidayee!...the hindi movie kind...beti...apna khayal rakhna beti..sob! sob!).
You might have caught 'Sound of Drums' on one of the music channels. Great track, especially the initial repitition. '108 Battles (of the mind)' is an absolutely crazy number and I found at least a thousand musical influences there. A bit of Uriah Heep, Jeff Beck and flower power all rolled into one.
'Last Farewell' bids adieu to 'Great Hosannah', almost like its part-II. Slow and very melodious...and Crispian Mills, what else to say?
'Golden Avatar' forms a nice precursor to the wrap-up number, 'Namami Nanda-Nandana'.
The only spanner in the works comes in the form of solitary raga/shlok deliveries. 'Radhe Radhe' (ok she's got a great voice..but does not gel here, face value) and the ending read-out (its not mentioned in the track listing).
In contrast, Crispian has sung 'Namami Nanda-Nandana' with utmost sincerity, which makes it great listening, more so due to his Brit accent too I guess.
Great album. Just listen to it. If you like a bit of fusion, Talvin Singh, Mahavishnu Orchestra...you'll love this one.
p.s. 1. That's Hariprasad Chaurasia on the flute in 'Namami Nanda-Nandana'.
p.s. 2. The band is named supposedly after a 9th century Indian King with the same name!
An excellent album........2006-01-20
This is a truely excellent album by Kula Shaker, and it is wrong to say that it is no where near as good as their first or that it is not a great album. It has very catchy songs, a great feel to it and after you have listened to it you feel as if you have been somewhere.
How can anyone say this is not a superb album? Nonsense.

NIGHT DRIVING GOAT.......2007-02-20
I just drove from Portland, OR to Topeka, KS, and i picked this up right before I hit the road and played it at night. It's scary and rockin all at the same time.
It's that good.
Best Melvins album In a long time.
Hits you in Strange Places.......2006-05-08
I'm not a big fan of collaborations in general and some of Lustmord's previous collaborations have been rather disappointing. But this is fascinating stuff.
For some reason, even though I'm no stranger to alternative guitar rock at all, the Melvins have completely and utterly passed me by. I'd never heard of them before til now. I'm not sure why that is - just one of those quirks of nature I guess.
Lustmord, however, I have been following since Paradise Disowned (87) and Heresy (90) came out, and have been a big, big fan of his voluminous, cavernous soundscapes ever since. Nonetheless, not being a fan of collaborations generally, I didn't rush out to buy this album when it came out. For one thing, what research I did do on the Melvins didn't make it seem like the outcome would be that promising...
Now that I have acquired it, I find myself putting it on rotation over and over though. What's the attraction? It's actually much easier to pick the album's faults than articulate why notwithstanding I like it so very much.
The album is often unfocussed, in places (especially in the title track) downright messy, sounding more like an unhypothesized experiment, or a competition to see who can make the most noise than a well researched project. In others, such as between "III" and "The Bloated Pope" it comes across as more of a "vs." project - with no evidence of collaboration at all. The first track ("III") is obviously wholly by Lustmord and gives way to the second ("The Bloated Pope"), obviously wholly by the Melvins.
But as I keep listening, the idea of the Melvins and Lustmord seems more and more like a really good idea. Towards halfway through, Lustmord's threatening drones blend in more and more comfortably with the Melvins' guitar work.
By track 8 ("Idolatrous Apostate"), the coalescence of two distinct musical forms becomes downright...well...I didn't think music could ever sound so dark but bizarrely appealing at the same time.
There's something 'otherworldishly' and frighteningly romanesque about this penultimate track, with its menacing guitar licks and demoniacal vocal grating that disintegrates into pure satanic distortion, and it's almost like it represents the culmination of the creative effort, as if the album tracks a diachronic movement. Rather like watching "The Exorcist", it's strangely compelling.
In any case, I highly recommend this to anyone who wants something really....well, original is the perfect word here.
Ominous..........2005-11-23
...as per usual. I haven't heard Melvins come up with such odd and sinister soundscapes since "Honky." Quite otherworldly, yet catchy at times ...in that Melvins way. The spacious mood pieces are especially good, and, aside from funky mid-paced "The Bloated Pope," surpass the more up-tempo, mechanical feeling jams. The only thing lacking here was a track where they overwhelm with one of their insanely slow and heavy brontosaurian trademark riffs. I was thinking the title track was going to eventually lean in that direction, but no such luck. Still, if you like that unique Melvins {and Lustmord} strangeness, this one won't disappoint. Sometimes, late at night, I enjoy putting on a movie, be it artsy/indie, or mainstream - often to more comical results - turn the TV volume down, and plug something like this in as a surrogate soundtrack. Nifty.
dark ambient meets L.S.D. grunge.......2005-11-21
the title explains it all.some tracks take several minutes to churn into a recognizable melvins aura, and that's a very good thing!this is like the "bootlicker" album on ludes.if you like this one definatly check out the ambient works of robert rich and steve roach as well!the death cube k albums would also compliment this release well!
Strange yet comfortable sound.......2005-09-07
As you're probably aware, this is the collaborative effort of famed rockers, the Melvins and one of the better ambient/drone artists, Lustmord. The Melvins, even after twenty years always do music their own way and they sure did this time. The combination of the harshness of Buzz's guitars and vocals paired with Lustmord's wonderfully built soundscapes makes this record one to be enjoyed by many. If you're wanting to hear the normal Melvins or Lustmord sound, then this might not be the album for you. Coming from a fan of both I definitely give this an A+.

Album Description
The Bassoon Brothers first album "Wanted The Bassoon Brothers" was called "Just plain hilarious" by the Seattle Times., and "a sort of all-bassoon version of the Canadian Brass" by Audiophile Auditions. It quickly became one of Crystal's best-selling albums and very high on Amazon's sales list. This second CD is at least as entertaining, with riotous takes on well-known classical, popular, and movie tunes. The quartet is the bassoon section of the Oregon Symphony in Portland and are on a mission to save the 'oons from extinction. Bassoon, contrabassoon, tenoroon, and tromboon all are now a little safer.

This is just a terrifically fun, inventive recording, featuring world-class performers playing truly innovative and interesting arrangements of a wide variety of music, from the cute and fun to the sublime and serious. You gotta get this CD!
fun for bassoon lovers.......2007-04-04
Sometimes, even bassoonists need to be a little silly, and this fits the bill!
Review of Captured! The Bassoon Brothers.......2006-08-01
Great CD with some very interesting instruments you don't hear everyday. If you like the bassoon, you'll like the uniqueness of this CD.
This album Captured my attention.......2005-03-02
Once while on a road trip, I found a radio station playing an instrumental rendition of Gilbert and Sullivan's "Three Little Maids" like I had never heard it before.
When the DJ said the unusual version had been performed by the Basoon Brothers I knew I had to find it.
The whole album just kept me giggling while it charmed me with it wonderful musicality. Well worth owning.
It's..............2003-02-18
An easy five stars to "Captured!" by The Bassoon Brothers. In fact, five stars to any bassoon playing that has a pulse. The mix of tune choices and the arrangements are exquisite. Who doesn't love "Fanfare For The Common Man"? I was listening to "My Girl" in the bath, and what with the singing and dancing, slopped water all over. I love "Send In The Clowns" and "Purple Haze" and the "Louie Louie" with the sly Glenn Miller and Sly references.
It reminds me of much more than just Spike Jones and Schickele. Willem Breuker Kollektief, the World Saxophone Quartet, the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Don Cherry, Carla Bley, and Sun Ra spring to mind. And the use of the all-too often neglected bassoons reminds me of James Carter's recent resuscitation of the nearly DOA bass saxophone on "Chasin' The Gypsy."
It's a treasure. And it only serves to remind that Mr. Eubanks is the premier bassoonist in the world and an arranger with few equals. I have not heard all of the dreary rehashes of Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring"; maybe I've heard eight or ten. With one exception, all dreary. The opening bassoon solos always remind me of the implication of "Waiting For Wood," an article of a couple of years ago in the New Yorker magazine. But, Mr. Eubanks' opening solo in "The Rite of Spring" by The Oregon Symphony is truly divine. Ethereal. Definitive. It sings, and gives the sense of the juggernaut that is to follow.
"Captured!" Five stars.

Customer Reviews:
It's a 2 c.d set.......2000-11-25
This is a great c.d. March of the Pigs(clean version) is the exact song on the downward spiral minus some bad words, you probabaly won't even notice the difference. All the pigs, all lined up is great, I think it's better than the original because there's a crowd yelling and it makes the song so much more powerful. Its one of my favorite nin songs of all time. A violet fluid is short and sweet, a great insturmental. The last song is big man with a gun. I never really enjoyed this one but it is still good. So why the 4 stars, it's because it's a 2 c.d. set and it should have been only 1. This import is better than the U.S version though because you get 2 extra tracks.
I want to give five stars, but I can't........1999-04-30
The radio edit of march of the pigs is just that... maybe one word is skimmed over and the song continuity remains intact. It's a good song, but I've got the Downward Spiral, so... The remix, however (all the pigs, all lined up) is thoroughly awesome. It uses some great industrial and techno elements including various samples and breaks which only seem to ADD to the song continuity. Also, a violet fluid is truly a masterpiece in miniature (like 1:09 miniature). It is great for inspiring feelings of mechanistic conquest, a good soundtrack to march to. Lastly, big man with a gun is still cool, but does appear on the Downward Spiral. I am still looking to buy disc two.
