Okay, for what it is.......2007-07-09

I listened to this at work and heard it quite a few times over the course of around 5 days. It annoyed some of my workmates and others didn't mind it - I quite enjoyed some of the music on this album, which is undoubtedly well produced. I imagine that it would sound quite good played up loud at a party or in a club.

Some of the song lyrics struck me as being a little silly, but that didn't bother me too much.

I don't think I'd listen to this album very often, but if I had a lot of guests over for a party, I'd consider playing it if people looked like they may want to dance.

"Good Girl Gone Bad" is a good album. I feel Rihanna has taken her music to a new level and it really shows in her music. If she keeps this up she'll go a long way. I recommend this album to anyone who is a Rihanna fan or people who appreciate her music.

A 20-track collection from the Reprise years that tries to cover too much ground. Very Good Years sweeps from the early 1960s to 1979's "New York New York," focusing on the most obvious Sinatra standards. The watchword here isn't art but populism. That's not a problem, really--but it means that serious fans (or those aspiring to be) will be better served elsewhere. It would be a fine introduction for the casual music lover, but so would any decent collection. For a compact Reprise-era sampler, try either this one or something from the Greatest Hits series. --Gavin McNett

Great stuff on this CD for any Sinatra fan. From the theme from "New York New York" to "It Was a Very Good Year" you'll find all the best that Sinatra is known for.

Let's be Frank about This.....................2007-05-16

The last thing that your Metamorpho wants is to be typecast when it comes to his reviews. That said- I may get criticized severely for straying outside of the pop/rock genre. But, as I advised in a bygone review, one has to stretch and see what else is out there. The world is vast and there is much to explore. (Your Metamorpho has recently discovered old, pub drinking folk tunes- and you said my musical taste was not eclectic!). Regardless, many Seer moons ago some friends of mine played Sinatra for me and then, as they say, the rest was reflective history.
This man is an absolutely incredible and astounding vocalist. Perhaps, one of the very best in the 20th century. You just have to listen to him, the cool smooth sometimes swingin', sometimes the serious and somber timbre of his vocals. What makes him so special anyway? It's how he phrases the lyrics, how his soft blanket of enunciation and knowing the right emphasis to use creates a very high standard that others hope to achieve. It is hard to define Sinatra so that you'll understand. But, if you're not too familiar with him, then this c.d. will help make it clear. It's everything: his vocals, the band sound, the arrangements. This is so fine- and so very classic and quality. Let's pour a drink, relax, and listen to Sinatra. So easy and wonderful on the ears.
Of course, as you would expect, this C.D. is filled with songs by the greatest songwriters of all time. Cole Porter,Johnny Mercer, Rodgers, Cahn-VanHeusen, Sondheim. We have exceptional compositions here. Plus Frank's later hits, "Strangers In the Night", "Summer Wind", "My Way", "New York, New York". The c.d. is a joy with great renditions by Frank. I especially like "The Best is Yet to Come" with Count Basie and his Orchestra. So cool, so jazzy, so Frank.
This is a great starting point by merely scratches the surface of his excellence. I suggest getting the box set of "The Capitol Years". That is his essential classic phase with arrangements by Nelson Riddle. You just can't get any finer music. Take my word. And even then, there is much more about him to discover. The best IS yet to come.
In conclusion, your Metamorpho, from time to time, needs to forget the rat race out there. Frank is a refreshing oasis of sound in sometimes a desolate music scene. He will always be this - for the ages. His legacy is cemented and will always be the best as more generations discover him.
Jazzy, suave, essential - this is Sinatra.
Very high marks for this one.
Now you must excuse me- Frank calls and a martini awaits me.

This cd is great because it has alot of my favorite songs. My favorite track is stranger in the night. I recommend this cd to anyone who likes Frank.

Sinatra is God..........2007-04-21

Of Jazz singers anyway. I don't even know what to say. He is the best Jazz singer of all time in my opinion (sorry Billie), and this is his best disc. Sure there are other cuts that are must haves, but as a compilation there is no comparison... This is the best one. It's a great place to start a Sinatra collection, or if you just want a single disc of his best stuff.

To open this oddball supergroup's debut, Paul Simonon hints at "Guns of Brixton," and when Tony Allen's flex rhythms come in, there's a shadow of Fela Kuti, too. Then Damon Albarn's slow grit of a voice enters--framed by Simon Tong's flecked guitar. A band with this much power has at least two options: to cut loose raucously or to mute their overt power for a more covert, dub-inflected atmospheric potency. Smartly, Albarn and his crew opt for the half-light of elastic bass lines, the clouds between the parentheses of drums--the covert. It's not until "Kingdom of Doom," the erstwhile 'single' of the album, that motion expands beyond the languorous. And even then, Tony Allen largely sits out. You get the full flush of Simonon and Allen on "Three Changes" shuffling time even while holding the tempo to a dubbish gait. It's not Blur, the Clash, Fela, the Verve, or Gorillaz. This Project Began in 2004 When Damon Albarn and Simon Tong Travelled to Nigeria to Record with Afrobeat Pioneer Tony Allen. Much Later, Albarn Gave the Tapes to Producer Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton and his Attitude Changed, Feeling Like He Would Just Write the Songs but Not Sing. Danger Mouse Helped Gel the Project and Albarn Just Wanted to Write Tales of West London. The Final Collaborator was Clash Bassist Paul Simonon, Whose Presence Changed the Whole Dynamic. The Result is a Record that Traces a Journey from the English Music Hall Tradition Over to West Africa for Afrobeat, Zigzagging Through the West Indies and Its Reggae and Dub, Back to England and London's Punk Scene, all the While Taking in a Strand of British Beat Music from the '50s Right Through to Britpop. A Very English Record, the Title Refers to a Saying in the Area that is Another Way of Saying "This is About Today, this is About the Present". A Heartfelt Tribute to London.

A Herculean effort!!!.......2007-07-13

Damon Albarn's latest project is sonically different from his last, Gorillaz, but still edgy and experimental. "The good, the bad, and the queen" reminds me of the last Blur CD "Think tank", with a smattering of Radiohead thrown in; a calm, beautiful sound with loads of piano, melodic guitars, and gently cascading harmonies.

The group comprises Albarn, Tony Allen (who used to drum with Fela Kuti), Simon Tong, and Paul Simonon. The CD made #2 in the UK.

The disc has a variety of sounds; Soothing Beach boys harmonies over delicate guitars and piano (the stunning "80s life" - a favourite of mine), piano driven eerie Radiohead-like ("Kingdom of doom", "The bunting song"), awash in strings and echoey guitars ("Behind the sun"), lilting percussion and dreamy harmonies ("Nature springs", "Three changes"), which perfectly complement each other.

Other standouts are "A soldier's tale" (lovely harmonies and guitar work), the tender acoustic folk-like "Green fields" (another favourite of mine"), and the majestic piano driven seven minute epic "The good, the bad, and the queen" (it becomes an exciting jam fest about halfway through) which closes the CD.

Definitely one of the best CDs to come out this year.

If you like the Gorillaz albums, you will most likely appreciate what the band is trying to do with this record. It's a crowning achievement in experimental music and one of the best albums so far in 2007.

Booooooooooring.......2007-06-09

I was really hoping this would be good. Dude from Blur has been on a creative streak and now he's making and album with the bass play from the clash and Fela Kuti's drummer. But alas, it sounds like the boring, moody, skip-over tracks on previous Blur albums. (Think "Death of the Party.") Some folks may really be into that stuff though. If you're one of them you'd probably like this. All I know is played this album aloud ONE TIME at work and four people told me to turn it off. (Shrug of shoulders, upturned palms and protruding upper lip.)

Does anything bad EVER come out of England?.......2007-05-19

This is a very experimental cd, and NOT the Gorillaz. That being said, it is a very good album. Alburn has one of those voices that just draws you in, and this is no exception. It almost sounds like a soundtrack to events that haven't happened, what I mean by that is, it really paints a picture about what the music is about. I'm proud to have this in my collection.

Weird...but awesome!.......2007-05-17

If you are a Gorillaz fan and like that strange, yet awesome sound that they produce you will like the Good, the Bad, and the Queen. Although they aren't exactly like them, they are along the right track. If you are looking for music along the lines of Blur, this is not the CD for you, just because they were formed by Damon Albarn, doesn't mean that they are Blur. Also, don't expect it to be a Clash CD... Paul Simonom, does play good bass, but doesn't imitate the Clash.

No need for much analysis here. An excellent Beach Boys compiliation. It's got all of the radio hits, the fun in the summer in the 60s. Maybe that's why "In My Room" and "When I Grow up to Be a Man" aren't here, which is because they're more thoughtful and introspective. Too bad, but what's here is excellent, great ambassador from its era.

Makes You Feel as if You Live by the Ocean.......2007-04-02

This album brings together all the all time favorites from the infamous Beach Boys. The classics like Surfin' USA, Surfer Girl, and Good Vibrations are all included in this CD that is guaranteed to get your blood pumping. Its hard to resist getting up and dancing to these wonderful tracks. If you like the Beach boys, you are sure to love this album. Its got all the right tunes and grooves. It makes you feel as if you live right there, ten feet from the beautiful ocean. I highly recommend this album to any person of any age, its safe for kids, another perk of these amazing tracks.

More Great music.......2007-07-03

I buy Spyro as soon as it hits the stores and have never been disappointed. Good to Go-GO is just another in a long line of Great work. Jay changes his support crew but the basics don't change. He lets his new members put their own touches to the history and evolution of the Band.
My favorite cut on this album has to be A Winter Tale. The growling base work and the light airy piano along with the Sax makes this premire music. I listened to the cut three time in a row the very fisrt time and picked up new nuances everytime.

Energy, sparkle, chops, and great grooves.......2007-06-20

I've been listening to SG since 1981 - had all their early years stuff on vinyl and have seen/heard them several times in concert. They've always been jaw-droppingly amazing live and most of their studio sessions in the last few years have failed to capture the magic that is Spyro Gyra. Not this CD. Cut 1 with Tom Schuman growling on the Rhodes and Julio cruising out on guitar is well-worth the price of admiission alone. No group, and I mean no group, has the raw talent and musicianship that these guys do. This CD allows them all to stretch out and develop their solos and boy does this CD groove. Run, don't walk. . . . . Jay B and Co. have proven, once again, that they are the king of the contemporary jazz genre.

The Lyrics Say It All..........2007-06-13

After the low-key "Wrapped In A Dream", "Good To Go-Go" is a breath of fresh air in my opinion. I am an avid Contemporary Jazz genre fan, and love upbeat jazz. This certainly fits the bill, plus it has a cool calypso sound in a couple of the tracks. I was happy to hear that they are going back to a few tracks that contain lyrics, making it easier to remember what track/song you are listening to. This is/was certainly an entertaining CD and I would easily buy it for a friend or family member.

Best CD in years.......2007-06-12

This is the best of Spyro Gyra's in years. After some average CD's like Original Cinema, The Deep End and Wrapped in a Dream they came with this one. The couldn't find a better tittle for this album because is really GOOD TO GO-GO. If you are a fan you will love this one but if you never heard them this is a good time to start doing it. Island time is the best track.

Spyro Gyra has consistently been one of the most successful pop-jazz groups of the past 30 years.
They released their first self-titled album in 1976 which they paid for and released on their own, on an independent label. Their sound caught on.
Within a year they had sold tens of thousands of records and signed a record deal.
The group has released an album of unique, innovative music almost every year for the past three decades. Not bad for some guys who just started out jammin'.
"Good to Go-Go" is the band's twenty-sixth of their overall career and their fifth release on Heads Up, following on the heels of the GRAMMY nominated 2006 release Wrapped in a Dream (Best Pop Instrumental Album).
They keep maiteining a fresh approach to their craft by borrowing from a range of sources and distilling them into an unmistakable signature sound.
A new face in the Spyro Gyra lineup belongs to drummer/percussionist Bonny B (short for Bonaparte). The Trinidad native had been touring with the band for several months before they went into the studio to record "Good To Go-Go", and the energy he brought to the party served as the catalyst for some fine tuning in the group's overall philosophy.
Bonny B joins saxophonist and Spyro Gyra founder Jay Beckenstein, keyboardist Tom Schuman, guitarist Julio Fernandez and bassist Scott Ambush in the five-man lineup.
Guest violinist Howes adds a continental flair to "The Left Bank", which is still 90% Spyro Gyra and the very talented Andy Narell adds his pan-playing to the second track.
The highlights of the the album are the bouncy mid-tempo "Simple Pleasures", a great song to listen to while driving with the windows down on a warm summer evening; the syncopated backbeat and subtle tonal shifts of uptempo "Get Busy" make for a challenging but fun melodic exercise.
"Along for the Ride" and "Island Time" take the listeners into a sort of Arthur Lyman/Les Baxter exotic islands music, but updated for the 21st century. Andy Narell adds his pan-playing to the second track and by now this album has won everybody's spirit.
Going into the homestretch with the title track, penned by Ambush, a highly percussive drums/bass groove that allows room for sax, keyboards and more.
Closing with "Newroses" increases the tempo/energy even further, with each band member trading licks for almost seven minutes.
In one word, a truly enjoyable, spirited delight.

It's hard to pinpoint the exact moment Modest Mouse started sounding like a real band. For the longest time, singer-songwriter Isaac Brock seemed to exist solely to defy the established rules, forging forward on sheer momentum and ingenuity. Even Pavement looked relatively ordinary in comparison to the band's early releases like 1996's This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About and 1997's The Lonesome Crowded West. But on Good News for People Who Love Bad News, the frontman sounds like he's finally touching the earth, and the band--minus founding member and drummer Jeremiah Green--follows suit. A relaxed mood prevails, not so much in volume but in attitude. On the follow-up to the group's 2000 major label debut, The Moon & Antarctica, big sloppy melodies battle it out with brass on punky epics like "Float On" and "The Ocean Breathes Salty." The lyrics are simpler, the arrangements tamer, but the vitality remains. Yes, "Float On" was a smash hit. Yes, it's pretty poppy. But what about "3rd Planet" and "Gravity Rides Everything" from "The Moon and Antarctica"? To a (possibly much) lesser extent, what about "Heart Cooks Brain" from "TLCW" or "Dramamine" from "This is a Long Drive"? You see, MM have generally had more "mainstream-palatable" songs on their album, and just because this one was a hit, does not mean they sold out.
OK, you've heard that rant before, but not in such an *ahem* eloquent fashion. Now onto the review.
As usual, the hit is by no means the best song on the album. Other songs like "The World At Large", "Ocean Breathes Salty", "Bury Me With It", "Bukowski", "The View", and (ESPECIALLY) "The Good Times are Killing Me" (which, by the way, if you did not know, was remixed and tampered with by one of the best bands of all time, the Flaming Lips) not only give "Float On" a run for its money, they take the money and use it to buy cigars.
I mean, the fact that supposedly hardcore fans are nitpicking this great album because it has freakin' "Float On" on it more points out their own stupidity and narrow-mindedness than it does the band being sell outs.
So, in conclusion, if you want to keep your rather dubious "indie cred", do not buy this album. If you enjoy Modest Mouse as much as anyone should, however, than do.

I am becoming more and more of a fan of this kind of off-beat, different music. I guess I can't help myself. I liked the single "Float On" when I heard it a few years ago, but again, I didn't pursue the album until later. Good News is interesting because of its contrasting moods. The plucky guitars and catchy harmonies conflict with the cynical lyrics that attack religion and certain kinds of people. The vocals range from pleasant sounds in the background to aggressive, near shouting tirades. The singer isn't all that great at singing, but he's great at using his voice to convey any mood he wants.

"The World At Large" starts off the album about as happy as it gets, with flutes and meaningless vocals in the background. "Bury Me With It" is about as angry as the band gets musically, though not lyrically. That would be "Bukowski", which is completely pleasant musically. "The View" sounds like kind of like dance music. "Satin In a Coffin" uses prominent drums and older sounding instruments to create a very interesting sound. "The Good Times Are Killing Me" finishes off the album while perfectly illustrating the conflict of sound and message, and it's produced by The Flaming Lips, which is cool. Modest Mouse is a unique band, and a good one at that.

I can't believe I heard this on the radio........2007-03-27

The first time "Float On" came across the radio I almost $#!? my pants. I fell in love with Modest Mouse after I heard "Dramamine". Not immediately, but after listening to the "Long Drive" record repeatedly, the band grew on me. And grew. And grew. Now 8 or 9 CD's later they're still growing on me. I'm glad they've found radio success and hope they are able to keep producing new music.

My highlights for this record include Bukowski, Black Cadillacs, and Satin In A Coffin. If you truly love the band and aren't just in it for the image, you'll love this record. The whole album is great. Yes, even Float On.

Even if you're an old school MM fan, listen to it with an open mind.......2007-03-12

This album is the worst Modest Mouse album, in my opinion, but it's still really great. That's the beauty of Modest Mouse.

What I love about Isaac Brock is that his music reveals a lot about who he is and what life has taught him. Good News for People Who Love Bad News is no exception.

The only track I don't like on this album is "Satin in a Coffin". After hearing a live recording, which I love, I can't stand to listen to the one on gnfpwlbn. It lacks passion and intensity.

These guys have released so many great albums that the expectations are always incredibly high for their next one. And every time they release one, I listen to it, and I'm a bit disappointed, and I say to myself, "it's good, but it's not as great as the last ones."

Then I listen to it more, and it begins to grow on me, and soon I can't stop listening to it and I'm raving, "This is their greatest album!".

That's what happened to me with this one. Didn't blow me away at first. Now? I am like an addict. As soon as a song ends I need to hear it again immediately. And I can't stop listening to the album, and I don't want to listen to anything else....

I give it huge props, even though they diss my beloved Charles Bukowski.

Ennio Morricone is well-known to moviegoers. His soundtracks for The Mission, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in America, Cinema Paradiso, and others are invariably warmly melodic and superbly suited to the films they grace. They not only add atmosphere; they help tell the story. For this CD Morricone has created new orchestrations for many of his scores, adding a solo cello part for the indefatigable Yo-Yo Ma, whose musical curiosity seems to be endless. Outside the films, these pieces tend to be lovely melodies, mostly pretty sentimental stuff, and, in the best way, gorgeous aural wallpaper. The most moving are the two selections from The Mission, but fans of Morricone's music will find plenty to enjoy here. Ma's playing, as always, is exquisite---warm, deeply felt (given the circumstances), and entirely idiomatic within the context. Perhaps not quite for the classical music lover, but an affectionate reworking of music by an important film composer. --Robert Levine

Is it bad to say I like this better than the original soundtrack?.......2007-06-02

I never thought Yo-Yo Ma would do Gabriel's Oboe (Track 1) from THE MISSION justice, but I was wrong. There's a pureness to this version that makes it easier casual listening than the version(s) on the soundtrack CD itself. So no matter how much I love the theatrical "largeness" of the Original Soundtrack (not to mention the full choir), this is the version I grab for the CD player/iPod/whatever.

My two other recommendations are Main Theme from ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST (Track 11) and Ecstasy of Gold from THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY (Track 12). I suggest playing these consecutively as a single medley. Track 11 *WILL* bring tears to the manliest among us --particularly if you remember in the movie where Sergio Leone pulls the camera up to reveal the town rising.

I get the feeling "hardcore" classical fans would dismiss movie scores as commercial work. I truly believe Ennio Morricone transcends that. Even moreso than, say, John Williams, and on a different plane than a Danny Elfman. And I can't say more about the emotion Yo-Yo Ma brings to the table than what's already been discussed.

The combination of Morricone and Ma is pure perfection. This CD fills my heart with so much joy that I could just cry. I listen to it almost daily and have given it away as a gift to my loved ones. I am captivated by their incredible talents, and I know you will be too.

Yo Yo Ma and the Maestro Marvelous!!!.......2007-05-13

Having recently succumbed to Yo Yo Ma after a longtime love of Ennio Marricone I was excited to get this CD from Amazon. It is superb! All of the songs had to be recrafted by Morricone to suit Yo Yo Ma but it is a great listen as you sonically travel down memory lane through some of Maestro Moricone's musical marvels. "Gabriel's Oboe" from "The Mission" now becomes "Gabriel's Cello." I laugh as Yo Yo Ma bows his brains out on the "Ecstacy of Gold' from "The Good,The Bad, and The Ugly." I recommend this to all Yo Yo Ma and Morricone fans...a great listen. Soothing after a hard day!

The music on this cd is so different than what I usually listen to. When I heard the Wedding Samba on the movie, I knew I had to have the cd. The cd is just what I thought it would be, a great collection of music that takes me back to the French countryside and downtown London. Great cd.

A good little bit of cinema.......2007-04-05

I read this book years ago and it has stuck with me, so I was excited to see the preview for this film. I had to wait until it came out on video because my town's theatres cater to the teenage mainstream (slasher gore, remakes of slasher gore, CGI, hollywood (deliberately NOT capitalized!)formula films, etc.)

To be honest, the first time through the film did not dazzle but, as with most of Ridley Scott's stuff, you simply have to watch it more than once to really SEE it and get to know the character's stories. In this case love stories - Max's love of money and power; DuFlout's love of the land; a town's love of their way of life; a nephew's love for his uncle; a young woman's love for a man she never met; a man's love for a woman and a place.
The scenery is spectacular, the supporting cast is by turn funny, sincere and slimy, and I think Russell Crowe's charater may start off a bit of a phony and that's how he's playing him.

My husband, who is normally, "If this has 'feelings' I'm not watching" really liked the story. Yes, it's a bit predictable, and sometimes that's just what I want. In a world that's so short attention span, Wow I've never seen that before, Gee, that looks almost real- it's nice to find a sweet little love story that shows a place and people we wish we really knew and works out the way we all wish life could.

A Good Year

A Good Year Soundtrack.......2007-03-27

For me, I get my money's worth with Track 12: Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini in French is unbelievable. The second this song played at the end of the movie, I knew I had to get my hands on this soundtrack.

It is a VERY eclectic mix of music, I like the Harry Nilsson numbers pretty much, and some of the French music is fun. A couple of the final tracks (French songs) seem plodding to me, and the Patti Page number seems very out of place. Maybe if I see the film again, I will gain a new appreciation?

Their multiple piercings, shaved heads, and abundant tattoos have them labeled a punk band, but on their fourth album, Good Charlotte--led by twin brothers Joel (lead vocals) and Benji (lead guitar) Madden--fall much more under the umbrella of 1970s arena rock and mainstream ballads. There is the occasional foray into the pop-punk mode of previous records, including the distorted-vocal rap "Keep Your Hands Off My Girl" and "Broken Hearts Parade," which sounds like Green Day with horns. It's easy to see the maturation in the Maddens' songwriting on such tracks as "The River," a surveillance of the inner workings of Los Angeles, the grass-is-greener pop song "Something Else," and "Where Would We Be," a break-up ballad about Joel Madden's split with pop princess Hilary Duff. With a piano lead and strident chorus, Madden admits, "Now I must confess that I'm a sinking ship/And I'm anchored by the weight of my heart." Browbeaten in theory, like sister songs "Misery," "Victim of Love," and "Break Her Heart," Good Morning Revival offers hints of optimism that grow with the record and reach the summit with the closing pop song, "March On." The harmonic chorus jubilantly declares, "Like soldiers we can make it through the night/We'll see the sun/March on." Whether punkers or mainstream rockers, it's apparent that Good Charlotte will continue the march. --Scott Holter

I was never truly a big fan of Good Charlotte, I bought this CD for my girl (who is a big fan) and after hearing it a few times I needed to report to all. This CD is terrible, lyrically and musically it's flat, nonsensical and self-absorbed. Obviously this band has become self-aware of their celebrity and is now singing about Louis Vuitton and clubs???? lame... just not on target with what they originally preached... Some might say this is growth, i call it lazy and irrelevant. I wouldn't even call it a sell-out, i'd call it a great way to do product placement thru music. Sad

i've been a fan of good charlotte since early 2002 and i loved the young and the hopeless as well as their self titled record and the chronicles of life and death. while some may consider many of the songs on those albums corny, some actually had meaning, and were incredibly catchy. they were a typical three chord pop punk band. however, with this album the band offers nothing that was mentioned above. while this record is good to blast a few songs or play the whole record through once in a great while, most of the songs fall flat. "all black" is up there with "riot girl" as being two of good charlotte's worst songs. "dance floor anthem" is boring and flat, and i couldn't even make it through the entire song without skipping. the stand out tracks on this album are: misery, the river, break apart her heart, beautiful place, march on, and broken heart parade. the rest are either horrible or aren't catchy or meaningful enough to make any listener actully care. for a band that has been making music together for over a decade, you would think that they would take a little bit more pride in the kind of music that they create. for the most part, i don't think we will ever hear a decent good charlotte record again, if they make it that far.

I should have just bought the songs i wanted. Most of the songs aren't that great. I know this buy was a waste. I suggest you just buy the songs your interested in.

Ridiculous .......2007-06-02

If I could give this no stars, I would. I loved the first album, I saw the video for Little Things on mtv2 and went out the next day and bought the CD. They had emotional lyrics and it was real. Second album was fun, slightly less personal. I loved Chronicles, I have both- the Life and Death versions. Chronicles had the best lyrics of all, I loved every track. So,I bought GMR the day it came out and it's the worst album I own. It ruined listening to the other albums for me. Joel doesn't even really sing - he sounds like he's trying to sing but it comes out like he's talking and has a cold. The lyrics are are awful, no emotion or personal feelings. They are all about the same things.
If you still feel like you want to buy this album, you should read the lyrics for all the songs and see for yourself.
But my advice - check out other bands who actually care about their fans.
I will never buy another GC album and I threw away my old ones.

This is my favorite from Good Charlotte.I wasn't a real big fan of their first two albums cause they sounded like any other pop-punk band.But I was hooked after I heard Chronicles.(If you want to know I bought the death version cause I liked it's bonus song way better than lifes.)Also on that note I like to say who gives a [...] if they made a song about how rich they were.I mean why did you buy it if you didn't like it.My favorite tracks areThe River,Misery,Something Else,and All black.

The first thing that strikes you about Randy Crawford's performance on Feeling Good is the soulful ease with which she moves through the songs, whether sh''s bluesily channeling Nina Simone on Billie Holiday's "Tell Me More and More and Then Some" or recasting Fred Neil's "Everybody's Talking" as a bouncy confection. The second thing that impresses you is how well she plays off the spare but supple acoustic piano of Joe Sample, who contributed the lively arrangements and co-produced the album with Tommy LiPuma. In general, I am always very pleased with music by Randy Crawford, and this CD which has her paired with Joe Sample is superb. It is a blend of previous recordings and new songs which have all be arranged by Sample. I cannot say enough good things about this CD. Any money spent to purchase a copy is money well spent!

Feeling Good in Istanbul.......2007-07-13

I attended their concert last night in Istanbul, Turkey. They played their songs from this album and expectedly, Street Life, and some other tunes. I had a great time and the music was a feast. The crowd was enchanted by Randy's voice, and Mr. Sample had a very good connection with the audience. My favorites were her interpretations of Feeling Good and Tell Me More and More. I hope she sings a lot more in the years to come.

I am a big Randy Crawford fan and a big Joe Sample fan. However, I did not know they had collaborated previously. I was first introduced to Randy while on a business trip to Anchorage just prior to the release of the Cajun Moon album. I was listening to a smooth jazz station while returning to my hotel from dinner, when this absolutely captivating song came on. I sat in the hotel parking lot till it finished in the hopes the station would tell me what I had just heard. Alas, it was Cajun Moon. I have subsequently bought all of her albums, and not one disappoints.

Although I had heard Joe Sample previously, I really became a big fan while listening to WJZZ in Philadelphia while on another business trip. They played X Marks The Spot from the Pecan Tree album, which I ran right out and bought.

As I have continued to listen to these two stellar performers I have always hoped they might one day do a project together. When I found Feeling Good on Amazon.com recently it was like a dream come true. This is truly jazz at its very finest. Silky smooth from beginning to end. For anyone not familiar with the work of these two fine performers, here is your chance to hear the very best the world of jazz has to offer.

Randy's voice has not changed since I was first introduced to her over 20 years ago. Joe Sample is brilliant!
