A Trip Worth Taking!.......2007-03-31
If you are like me, and you are tired of buying `kid's music' that you are embarrassed to listen to with your child, then check out Road Trip, the latest CD from Boston-based `tween sensation Girl Authority. A high energy mix of contemporary and classic hits as well as a handful of brilliant originals, the album features nine super-talented middle school friends from the Boston area who sing and dance like they are having the time of their lives.
Road Trip is packed with fourteen terrific contemporary covers including Rascal Flatt's chart-topping `Life Is A Highway," Hoku's "Perfect Day,' and Christina Aguilera's "Here To Stay," as well as such family-friendly 60's, 70's and 80's staples as "Dancin' In The Street,' "The Locomotion," "We Are Family," "Holiday," "Vacation" and "Walking On Sunshine." New material from synthpop legend Vince Clarke - the new single "Let's Get Together" - alterna-rock darling Tanya Donelly - `This Is My Day' - and Cyndi Lauper's inspirational "Shine" round out the package.
Road Trip is a no-risk disk you, and your child, will can enjoy together the whole way through.
Good lyrics - finally something appropriate for kids.......2007-03-31
I bought this for my daughter and it's been in the CD player on repeat since we opened the package. Finally a selection of songs where the lyrics are actually appropriate for little kids. The singers are quite good too. I can actually stand to hear this over and over and over... :) Also, as a bonus, there is a DVD that comes with this CD. It's cute and fun. My daughter is 6 and now a big fan of Girl Authority.
"Fun for the kids".......2007-03-29
This CD is so refreshing! The kids singing seem like nice, regular girls youngsters can look up to. My granddaughter loves to sing and dance, and I hate to have her watching some of the celebrities we have today. I just got her this CD, and she hasn't stopped listening to it. She knows one of the dances they do from the DVD that comes with the CD, and she now performs it for us as she sings along with the CD.
Sammy and Syd's Dad.......2007-03-29
I'm a dad with twin daughters, and I'm thrilled something like this has come along for girls to listen to. I had to buy two copies of Road Trip, because the booklets that come with the CD are like little books about the band members, and each of my daughters wanted her own. The music is catchy and innocent, and (speaking as a dad) I appreciate that the girls in the band dress like young girls and not inappropriately. My daughters like to try to copy the Girl Authority styles, and I'm pleased it's very kid-friendly. It's amazing, too, that these girls in the band are so talented for being so young (I think the youngest is only nine or ten?) Five stars for giving my daughters something positive to look up to!
Cool group for girls & very cute DVD included.......2007-03-28
My daughter is a huge fan of this group, and LOVES this new CD. It comes with a free DVD that shows the girls behind the scenes, at rehearsals and in concerts, at photo shoots, etc. They seem like a really cute group of girls -- my daughter and her friends love them. Best of all, I don't cringe when I hear her singing along to the songs -- the lyrics are very kid appropriate -- very different than some of the other songs you hear on the radio. This would be a great Easter gift for a young girl -- I'm ordering more now for my nieces. Enjoy!

The soundtrack to Road Trip veers away from the contemporary practice of hiring third-string alternative bands to cover classic rock tunes. That fact alone gives this entertaining collection a leg up on its filler-happy brethren. Road Trip--a cross-country, hormone-heavy romp featuring Canada's favorite headcase, Tom Green--boasts cuts from the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Kid Rock (featuring Uncle Kracker), Buckcherry, and even Minnie Riperton. The underrated "Voodoo Lady" by Ween gets a second chance, as do Run DMC's "It's Tricky" and Twisted Sister's "I Wanna Rock," which sounds awfully quaint several years after frontman Dee Snider's ugly mug scared a nation. The shifting gears--from rock to rap to pop to soul--make this vehicle work as both a film soundtrack and a great disc for a road trip of your own. --Jason Josephes

OUTSTANDING.......2006-06-24
Granted there were a few more songs on the movie I would like to see on the CD, the CD didnt fall short of my expectations AT ALL!!!!!
Road Trip.......2006-05-08
I found the movie and the lyrics were well proportioned. The movie itself related to everyone who has ever been traveling, except for old foggies. I'm 45 and I still keep in touch with todays music. I listen to lyrics as well as beat.Your soundtract was right on the money for the movie .However, I do like certain types of sound.I liked about 6 out of 10 songs played.
Road Trip Falls Short.......2006-03-24
The movie has a very long list of great music. The CD is pathetic. The person who decided to push this garbage as the official music from Road Trip should be fired. I feel fiscally raped!
fromaphotograph, you are an idiot.......2005-02-08
the eels song "mr e's beautiful blues"on this soundtrack is the exact same song as the one entitled "mr e's beautiful blues" on daisies of the galaxy. i dont know what you are on. and by the way mr. e's beautiful blues on daisies of the galaxy is an extra track, not listed on the back of the CD. that might be part of your problem.
i give this soundtrack 5 stars solely on the merits of the eels contribution.
The KGB Rocks!.......2004-04-07
I haven't heard the soundtrack yet, but i do know that it contains fortune and fame from the The K.G.B. and everyone should buy the soundtrack just to hear that song! and then find both of The K.G.B. cds (on ebay.com or half.com) or anywhere else you can find- you'll love it!
GO K.G.B. !!!!!!!!!!!

Six Decades of Film Music.......2007-05-13
This is film music for the classical music lover. The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra presents excellent arrangements of a number of classic film themes (although several pieces of the 56 film classics selected for this 4 CD set are not orchestral arrangements, but rather specialty arrangements). Besides great film composers such as John Williams, Elmer Bernstein, Ennio Morricone, and James Horner, classical composers such as Richard Strauss and Pietro Mascagni make an appearance. On several of the numbers the Crouch End Festival Chorus adds the human voice to the power of the full symphonic orchestra to create true movie magic. If you like the sound of a full symphony orchestra playing some of the most recognized themes ever written, you'll love these CDs.
Excellent collection with fine performances.......2007-03-28
Silva Screen Records, based in England, has been issuing some fine collections of film scores, more in one box than we have the right to expect. This four-CD box contains scores by many of the best writers, including Max Steiner, Bernard Herrmann, Dimitri Tomkin, Kenneth J. Alford (The Bridge on the River Kwai), Elmer Bernstein, Maurice Jarre, Ennio Marricone, John Barry, Nino Rota, John Williams, James Horner, and more. We can all think of additional film scores we wished were included, but then there's no way this collection could be all-inclusive. The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, supplemented by Crouch End Festival Chorus on some numbers, does a very competent job...The liner notes give the basic information without any commentary, and as far as I can see, contain only one error. Am I wrong or are tracks 9 and 10 on the fourth CD mislabeled? Track 9, which runs 7:33, seems to have the excitement of "Pirates of the Caribbean" (which I did not see) and track 10, which runs 4:22, the more sedate "The Girl with the Pearl Earring (which I also did not see). Listings seem to have them reversed.
"essential film scores from 1939 to 2004 ~ Incredible Music".......2005-05-16
When I think of the "Golden Age" of Hollywood, many composers come to mind...you gave the usher your ticket in the theater and sat down, knowingly you were going to get your moneys worth...when the curtain opened and you heard those first few notes...you sat back, watched and listened as the film score and orchestra worked their magic...now we have the ultimate from Silva Screen Classics "The Incredible Film Music Box", featuring a four disc set of the essential film scores of the past 60 years...covering several decades from 1939 through and up to the present 2004
There are compilations and then there are "Compilations" beginning with a classic that even the youngsters today recognize "GONE WITH THE WIND" (1939) (Max Steiner), sweeping score that captures the tragic history of the South during the Civil War, one great cue after another, it doesn't get any better than this, nominated by the Academy for Best Original Score...and closing on Disc 4 with "THE INCREDIBLES" (2004) (Michael Giacchino), the big hit in computer animation from Walt Disney & Pixar that once again pit Super-Heroes against the forces of evil...our family of five Supers prove crime doesn't pay, but box-office receipts do...gotta love it!
Silva Screen Classics as usual, has put quality into this 4-CD-Set featuring The City Of Prague Philarmonic Orchestra and the Crouch End Festival Chorus conducted by Kenneth Alwyn, Bill Ashton, Paul Bateman, James Fitzpatrick, Mario Klemens, Derek Wadsworth, and Nic Raine. Recorded in "Dolby Surround" with the new technology of "HDCD", this is a "film-score-buffs" dream, one to treasure now and years to come.
Some selections are missing, but when you think of what Silva has included, it is impossible to please everyone...was happy to see "TOUCH OF EVIL" (1958) from composer Henry Mancini, as I feel this composer deserves all the recognition that has been overlooked recently in the music world...This collection is aimed directly at the "Serious Film Score" music fans and collectors...Silva is as always, perfect in every way...just the way we like 'em!

A Fine Soundtrack of a Fine Movie.......2007-07-15
I basically love the movie, because it's poetic along with Montana wilderness and I am a fly-fisherman. I have just bought this CD as my background music while I am tying flies. And it works very very well. Each track reminds me of each moment of the movie, especially, tracks from Track 25 "Yes, Quite a Day" to Track 31 "Hauted by Waters" just make me poignant. An exclusive interview with the composer is also very unique and worth to hear about the background of the movie. "The Moment That Could Not Last" last only 1:24, how about in our real life? Is it gonna be like Paul's? I am hautend by this soundtrack.
Review(How original huh?).......2007-01-25
Personally, this is one of the absolute BEST soundtracks I have ever listened to. The music is calming, soothing, and truly wonderful. The music is so well put together and nicely coordinated and I feel like I am watching the movie again...it also makes great to read the Laura Ingalls Wilder books too. Try it...you might be suprised how well it fits. :)
Music that transcends simple meaning..........2006-07-16
Mark Isham's score for the motion picture A River Runs Through It is one of the most memorable and emotionally captivating film scores of all time. The arrangements of strings, piano, woodwinds create a meditative and reflective range of music throughout the film capturing all the emotions of this powerful drama about an American family in rural Montana. It is at once deeply haunting, moving, nostalgic and sentimental and captures the innocence and beauty of nature and childhood, as well as darker themes of rebellion and tragedy. There is a profound sense of emotion that is embedded within the music that sweeps over me every time I hear it. A combination of happiness, sadness, excitement, and reflection. There is something simply sweeping and majestic within his music. I couldn't think of anything else that would better compliment the film. Highly recommended.

Product Description
2006 Release. The group Hectic Watermelon is the fresh expression of guitarist-composer, John Czajkowski, and the band's new album, The Great American Road Trip, reveals the entire groups passion for delivering a delightfully nuanced sonic smorgasbord. Czajkowski formed the power trio with musical partners Darren DeBree and Harley Magsino on drums and bass to deliver an album of new music that still reflects classic sensibilities. The legendary fusion pioneer, Jerry Goodman, joins the lineup on electric violin and is featured on 9 of the 11 tracks. Additional guests include Brian Kahanek, Scott Lerner, and Kevin Freeby who all play on one track each. Experiencing the debut album, The Great American Road Trip, the listener is treated to a nostalgic retrospective that draws from the American jazz-rock tradition of the past four decades with an ambitious new compositional direction. Czajkowski relates, 'My aim has been to write and record an album that has more dimension than an instrumental rock guitar album. I have wanted to try to create a rich collection of music unified by a group of musicians playing material that attempts to build bridges between both high- and low-status types of music. I love all these types of music equally and they are inseparably rooted in both who I am as an American musician and music lover.' The resulting album is a palette of deep compositions that draw idioms ranging from classical, jazz and fusion to progressive rock, bluegrass, and metal.

When they're not fighting hip-hop's "jiggification," the Infesticons have day jobs as some of New York's finest progressive artists. This concept album was conceived by poet, musician, and teacher Mike Ladd and executed by a team including Company Flow, Anti-Pop Consortium, Saul Williams, Sonic Sum, and Liza Jessie Peterson. Assuming characters both good (The Infesticons, freedom-fighting art purists) and evil (The Majesticons, jiggy drones who value style over substance), the all-star team generally stays true to the project's lofty themes. Sparse but friendly production switches moods when scenes change, and the intricacies of single tracks are compromised to craft a more complete album; the underdeveloped beauty of "Cave Theme," for example, actually works well as a link along the unfolding story. This is one of the year's more creative and theme-heavy releases, so bring some patience and a dictionary to really appreciate Ladd's holy war. --Hua Hsu

then check out this album. If you like Mike Ladd I really don't need to say much more. A solid effort from Ladd that really showcases his talent and those of a few guests. And their collective talents compliment each other. A lot of people talk about this album as a collaborative effort and I am not saying that the collaborators didn't bring anything to the table, but from the concept to the tracks, this album is about 90% Mike Ladd's doing. If you aren't farmiliar with his other work, then immediately go to the search window and type in "Mike Ladd". His poetry is good too. I like the concept to this album, I like the execution, I like the mood. It is the real!
Addictive.......2001-11-15
Mike Ladd tore apart hip hop and rebuilt it for the future. Forget any pre-conceived notion about what this album may sound like. Let it grow on you and it will take you over.
God Bless the Infesticons, F__k the Majesticons!.......2000-08-20
The Infesticons are Mike Ladd, Company Flow, Saul Williams, the Anti-Pop Consortium, and some little-known talent that Ladd has assembled. Ladd is the mastermind behind not only this album, but the concept of Infesticons (gritty rap warriors protecting the 5 borroughs of NY from "jiggification") and Majesticons (self-explanatory). Mike Ladd is on virtually every song and he raps under different names when the song calls for it. For instance, his "Church Theme" is sung by himself as Pastorcon. Yes, this is one of those albums that you are unsure of at first. But after three or four listens, it not only grows on you, it swallows you whole. While all this may sound like too much to swallow, hungry underground rap fans NEED to hear this album. The experimental sounds and beats used and the live instrumentation are mind-blowing, and I don't say that lightly. For anyone who likes some futurism with their hip hop, dare to support Mike Ladd's cause. Buy this album. Radio won't ever play it and none of your friends have probably heard of it.
Fresh.......2000-07-07
This album is fresh, that's all I have to say. From the moment it starts, until the end, the album is like nothing you have heard before. The lyrics are quite good, although not freestyle. And the cuts could be a little better. Otherwise, it really is complete. But what makes the album soo good is the electronica type music in the back. It adds a new flavour. When I mean fresh, I mean something new, something different. This is the type of album you wanna own first, so you can play it to all your buddies, and they would go "who is this! ". And so you tell them...Infesticons.

In May 1903, spurred by a friendly argument and a $50 wager, retired New England doctor Horatio Nelson Jackson headed east from San Francisco on America's first transcontinental automobile journey/race. That mother of all road trips is the subject of this Ken Burns PBS documentary, and its soundtrack evokes both the era and scope of Jackson's journey with the sympathetic grace we've come to expect from the filmmaker. The music here ranges from pre-1920 recordings by The Original Dixieland Jazz Band (the jaunty "Tiger Rag" and "Livery Stable Blues") to interpretations of popular music of the period ("Bill Baily Won't You Please Come Home," "Cecile") and modern originals performed and/or written by John McKuen, Tony Ellis, Earl Scruggs, Jacqueline Schwab, Bobby Horton and others. The emphasis is on folksy, guitar `n' banjo bluegrass stylings that conjure the dusty plains and rural mudholes of an America heartland whose highways were still mostly the unpaved wagon and horse trails of the previous century, yet tempered with the budding urban popular music of the growing towns and cities where Jackson and his grime-caked jalopy drew curious spectators by the droves. Skillfully woven into the musical feast are newspaper accounts and the reminisces of Jackson himself, read by Tom Hanks, George Plimpton, Tom Bodett and Murphy Guyer. -- Jerry McCulley

Do Your Self a Favor.......2006-07-18
Imagine yourself in the car with your screaming kids -- it's a long drive -- and suddenly you pop in a CD that grabs everyone's attention...dad behind the wheel says "Whoa -- what's this?"
Meanwhile, the kids in the back seat stop harrassing each other as the soulful voice and choruses of Rebecca Frezza and her band command everyone's attention. Simply put, this album rocks -- this is Pearl Jam meets Crowded House meets Lisa Loeb for kids. Forget the Wiggles and Laurie Berkner, you and your kids will find yourself playing this CD again and again. Frezza finds and defines an underserved market -- kids too old for corny sounding blah blah nursery ryhme sounding retreads and comes up with something rocky, poppy and fun. The songs are tight, smart and fun. Her band rocks! This is a total mood changer!! There's no shame here when parents find an excuse to play this album again. We first heard about Rebecca on XM Satellite and we are now the happy owners of both Road Trip and Music in My Heart. We then caught her on Jack's Big Music House on Noggin. And now there's her new CD, Tall and Small, which we picked up at a local gig here in New Jersey. Frezza is the next "Big Thing" in kids rock -- she is an undiscovered talent that is worth getting to know now.

Great CD!!!.......2004-03-04
My 2 1/2 year loves it!!! (and so do my husband and I). We can listen to this in the car for hours. Rebecca's voice is beautiful and the lyrics are really fun.
"Road Trip" is One to Share.......2004-03-02
Great CD. Kid's music that deserves a Grammy. My kids love it and I love playing it for them. Great sound and lyrics for children and parents of all ages.
A Road Trip well worth taking.......2003-11-24
On her latest CD, "Road Trip," Rebecca Frezza and her band, Big Truck, continue to accomplish their goal of creating children's music that adults can also enjoy. From a musical center of acoustic rock her style is colored by jazz ("B3"), gospel ("Rock My Baby"), soul ("Dance With Me") folk and country. I heard the influences of a variety of artists from the B52s, to the Doobie Brothers to Earth Wind and Fire to name just a few. Frezza's voice is clear, strong and expressive and she makes great use of harmonies from her talented back up singers throughout the CD. She wisely broadens her authors' pallet by sharing the writing credits with guitarist Elisa Verano and producer Chris Putnam. Among my favorite tracks are the rocking "Babysitter," the silly "Space Dog" and the sweet and pretty "Movie In My Pillow." The instrumentation on this CD strikes just the right balance of adding interesting touches here and there (saxophone, strings, and very sparingly, kids chorus) without ever getting in the way of keeping the songs front and center.
This is one to add to your shopping cart. The high quality and diversity will keep the parents interested and the fun songs will keep the kids asking to play it again.
