5 out of 5 stars the best in west coast political punk.......2001-07-26

while not overly political, the band satanic surfers is some of the best west coast hard core punk i have heard. once i started listening to this album i couldnt stop, i listened to it every day for 2 months. tracks that especially got a message across were "institutionalizing murder" and the second track, about the lack of choice in people to elect for running your lives and telling you how to live. i would suggest this album to anyone who is a fan of fast music, and everyone who is a fan of melodic music. -Monk

5 out of 5 stars Your basic SS cd.......2001-04-25

It's good, because it's coming from the Satanic Surfers. If you're looking for good, fast, melodic punk rock from Sweden and are sick of Millencolin, check out these guys. Don't let the name scare you away, because they're not satanic or anything. They got the name from their two main inspirations, the Misfits (Glenn Danzig, dur) and the Hard-Ons (Who they were called the 90's version of). Anyways, back to the cd. It's good, but if you're going to get their cd and you're new to them, get "Hero Of Our Time" or "666 Motor Inn". All in all, it's a good cd for all the skate punks out there looking for something new.

3 out of 5 stars its okay...........2001-04-17

Ive only had the cd for a day and listend to everyone song once maybe twice for some. a couple good songs. most are nothing special. but it'll probably grow on me the more i listen to it like most do

5 out of 5 stars Going nowhere fast.......2000-10-07

When I got this cd I couldnt take it out of my cd for a long time it quickly because one of my faverite cd of all time. I am a real satanic surfers fan I can wait tell they come to my city for a show. This cd is fast and very well writen I would have to say that it is one of the best punk cd I ever owned.

5 out of 5 stars The Surfers Don't Dissapoint.......2000-02-17

Once I popped in the new Surfers album I was completely blown away. Going Nowhere Fast is a fast paced cd, most comparable to their Hero of Our Time release (one of my favourite punk cd's of all time). If you like fast paced punk rawk with catchy balads, the Surfers are the band for you. I think this is their best cd yet, and the fact that the drummer is the lead singer blows my mind to this day. No joke, get this cd!

Album Description

"the joy of going nowhere fast" is the journey of one man through life with the open road as the central metaphor. The journey moves seamlessly from the past to the present and future, taking the listener through the heart and soul of a human being as he makes his way through life at the end of the old century and the beginning of the new millinium.

Through world rhythms and intricate melodies, exotic instrumentation and lyric invention, folk sensitivity and rock sensibility, wrapped around an evocative sound design, "the joy of going nowhere fast", like deja-vu will take you somewhere you've never been before but will remind you of places, times, people and feelings you know by heart.

This is the record you never knew you were waiting to hear.

5 out of 5 stars Always excellent.......2001-05-03

I have been one of the fortunate people to know Michael Silversher from his early, early days with TheatreWorks when it was the Youth Workshop. I've had the distinct pleasure of singing some of his songs in the productions ("Popcorn" and "Dream Eaters") we worked on together. This CD is wonderful. Michael's music continues to inspire and soothe the mind and spirit. I look forward to more solo CD's from Michael.

5 out of 5 stars The Joy of Knowing Michael Silersher.......1999-05-26

It is a joy to know Mr. Silersher. A very interesting person to speak with and enjoy the blend of music. Hope to see Mr. Silersher at SWXSW in Austin, Texas. Will be worth seeing.

5 out of 5 stars unique, great blend of instrumentals........1999-05-11

We at the Polanco resort in Austin,Tx appreciate the colorful blend of creative lyrics along side lavish instrumentals. We especially appriciate the guitar sound by the "Piano Man"We hope to hear new music from him soonand maybe see him in concert at SXSW music festival!

5 out of 5 stars A mature, complex and strangely romantic insight........1999-04-04

Rarely have I enjoyed a CD as much as the "joy of going nowhere fast". The blend of lyrics and music are insightful into the mature, complex and strangely romantic mind of the author. It is the type of CD to listen to by yourself, at night, driving on a long highway. Your destination isn't important, but I bet you listen to "the normal heart" three times because it reminds you of someone from your past. The ghost track, "story's end" will bring you to tears. Except for the lack of any french horn, all the songs are excellent.

5 out of 5 stars REALLY TAKES YOU SOMEPLACE!!.......1999-01-18

Hypnotic - scintillating - refreshingly honest - this is an album of heartfelt songs about the journey of life. I was especially moved by THE NORMAL HEART, THAT'LL DO and STORY'S END - but all of the songs are moving - and the scope and breadth of the arrangements, production, etc. are incredible, considering it all came from a one-man-band!! Michael's obviously been influenced by the Beatles, world music, alternative - but his is a unique voice!!
