4 out of 5 stars Another Consistent Effort From Bizzy.......2006-10-01

So, the "No Intro" intro sucks. Yeah, really, just plain sucks. I was actually kinda worried when the first track of the album was just Bizzy rambling mostly unintelligibly over a ridiculous beat I'm glad he didn't try to rap over. BUT the second song was indeed a saving grace, because I'm sure I wouldn't have listened to the rest of the album if it weren't as good as it is. Bizzy has a habit of putting his better songs first ("Thug'z Cry", "We Ride", etc.) and this cd is no different. One thing I noticed was the differences in his cadences all over this album. Bone Thugs have always been known for their flow and harmony, but Bizzy really makes a point to prove on this album that he is quite lyrical. Case in point, "I Understand", possibly the best song of his career. It showcases a very mature and accountable Bizzy moving on from his past (much like "Demons Surround Me" from Heaven'z Movie). Another dope song on this cd is "All In Together Now" a story of female betrayal with a dope beat and a well put story. Okay, again, with most Bizzy cd's, the weak point is the production. Not just the beats, but some of the choruses. Case in point, the off-key singing on "Die 4 U" works well enough, but I can't get past "Mirror, Mirror on the wall..." from track 12. Overall, this is a dope album, but Bizzy's done better. It's a great addition to your collection if you're a huge Bone Thug fan but if you're just casual fan, this might not be the best choice.

Oh, I really really hate it when rap artists put clean versions of songs on dirty cds. It's just unnecessary, so this album loses points for the otherwise dope "Better Run, Better Hide".

5 out of 5 stars Hail the KING OF BONE.......2006-06-21

This cd shows Bizzy's Tru Talent!!! It also shows how he's a true subject to the industry and went through what other rappers wish they went through. BTNH isn't a crew without Bizzy. Bizzy defines BONE!!!

5 out of 5 stars Short and to the point.......2006-06-09

Hands down Bizzy Bone is the best rap artist of present. I challenge anyone to find a better flowing better ryhming artist with emotion and meaning. You will not find such a person as they do not exist. Bizzy is unmatched and better served stayin solo rather than going back to Bone.

5 out of 5 stars BEST BIZZY ALBUM.......2006-03-08

This albums follows the murder of bizzy bones 'brother' capo alias konfucious. I feel like this album addresses all the issues (such as being a kicked out member of BONE) that comprise the individual bizzy bone. Honest, candid, revealing and passionate, this album is no way commercial but truly heart felt and delivered. With the exception of about 3 or 4 songs...i have enjoyed this album more than any other bizzy solo album.

5 out of 5 stars WOW.......2006-03-05

This is such a nice strong album, I loved it, my mother likes it and she's like OLD. I'd recommed this album to everyone

4 out of 5 stars faith for kids.......2007-06-09

I remember one of these on LP as a child and the songs have stuck with me for many years. It was a great surprise to find out there are 3 recordings using this catchy idea.
The Original recording is still the best of the 3 in my opinion and I am already playing these for my 18 month old daughter. The songs are kid friendly and have a great message!

5 out of 5 stars fantastic.......2006-12-14

I listened to these CDs when I was a girl (about 20 years ago) and was delighted to find them again for my own children. I have wonderful memories of singing these songs and dressing up and using them in plays with my sister. They are fantastic for kids to learn about God in a format that will stick for the rest of their lives (I am proof)! I have thoroughly enjoyed listening with my three girls.

5 out of 5 stars It was worth it!.......2007-04-04

As a child back in the early 80's, my very first cassette tape was Bullfrogs and Butterflies. I listened to it incessantly (just ask my folks!) I was delighted to discover that it was available on CD, as my treasured cassette now sounded as if I were listening underwater. Now I just pop that CD in so my little 5 month old son can enjoy the upbeat songs with an awesome message.

5 out of 5 stars Fun, Fun.......2006-11-15

I saved up my money to buy these tapes when they first came out and they were my favorite!!! I just recently found them in storage and my kids are now having the pleasure of listening to them. Even the older ones like it. Catchy, upbeat songs that make any day brighter. I'm so glad to see it's now available on CD.

5 out of 5 stars By itself, a great album..........2005-11-26

First of all, we cannot pretend to get the latest album of our favorite group playing in the same way than their first demo tape. For their die-hard fans, Cro-Mags had to stay in their niche forever, playing the same hardcore and getting old at the CBGB (if you're one of them, don't buy it and save your money). Obviously "Alpha-Omega" hasn't much in common with previous albums like "Age of Quarrel" or "Best Wishes" but, not from the point of view of hardcore but from heavy metal (or whatever you name it) this is a GREAT ALBUM. Clean sound, powerful riffs, Harley Flanagan singing at his best. Do we need something else? NOP, they did a really good job. Congratulations and Cro-Mags forever!!!

5 out of 5 stars Got me into Hardcore and tatoos :).......2005-11-12

This album (alongside Biohazard's Urban Discipline) is a big chunk of my teens years, this album served as a buffer for me to start listening to hardcore as it is a crossover between metal and hardcore. I saw them live in Paris, France, after a day of skateboarding with a busted ankle, and seeing John Joseph stretch in preparation for the concert, man those were the good days, they were so good live.....I was very attracted to the lyrics, Indian mythology graphics and amazing krishna tattoos they had. Here I am 14 years later, I got krishna tattos, and I still make sure I rock hard, I'm glad the Cro Mags were a part of my life as they gave me mental strentgh and stamina.... So, this album is a great metal/HC album, of course, their first album "the age of quarell" is conisdered as one of the cornerstones of NY hardcore, but "Alpha-Omega" is a good addition as it is a more truly technical and spiritual masterpiece. The album includes the best lineup of the Cro-Mags (John "Bloodklut" Jospeh, Harley Flanagan and Paris Mayhew),John Joseph has great vocals and he bring all of his notorious attitude forth, same can be said for their legendary Bass player Harley, the man with the devil holding planet earth - tatood on his chest....Before there were posers and whiny dirtballs, there were the cro-mags, the real bad-asses of New York.... Unfortuntaly, the band shatterd afterwards into lesser bands (mediocre to say the least, but still with a great presence), speeking of which: the only good album done after Alpha-Omega belong to Harley-Flanagan's "White Devil", it's a 5song EP, and it's amazingly good, but good luck finding it...

5 out of 5 stars Great METAL-Album.......2005-06-03

Why is this album so unpopular? In my opinion, it's one of the best Metal Albums from 1992. Of course it's more "Thrash Metal/Crossover"-Stuff, than old school Hardcore. But it's really great in what it's trying to deliver. "See The Signs" is just typical Cro-Mags-style. "Eyes Of Tomorrow" ia one of the best examples for the combination of Rap and Metal I have ever heard. "The Other Side Of Madness" ist a catchy, Dokken-like Metal tune, but it get's really heavy with "Apocalypse Now". What a great song, starting of with really FAT Doom Riffs, before it gets faster after 3 minutes, and ends in a terrific climax. The next three songs might not belong on a "Best Of" zhe Cro Mags, beginning with "Path To Perfection", sounding like a song, just made to get a video on MTV. Victims and Kurusetra are quite unspectacular, but still good. And it all ends with "Changes", a song, that might remind you a lot of the best from Life Of Agony's "River Runs Red". Very emotional singing, crushing Riffs, effective changes in speed. One of my all time favorites. This makes up a true classic in my opinion. Different than the albums before, but still great AND influential, especially on bands, like Life of Agony or Biohazard.

4 out of 5 stars Eyes of Tomorrow as relevant today as it was in 1992.......2004-05-17

Give it another listen. I think it ages well -- even the modest amount of turntablist scratching toward the end of "Eyes of Tomorrow" is prescient -- and it's great to hear them pissed off about all the crap that was going on then, from Iraq to environmentalism. Too bad so little has changed.

4 out of 5 stars different but still good.......1999-12-30

After many hard listens to this cd, I have come to the conclusion that it does stand up as another great Cro Mags release. Yes, it does have more ballads than one would expect but they are so well written and the combination of "Age of Quarrel" singer Jon Joseph & "Best Wishes" singer Harley flannigan is truely a treat to the ears. This album has the best of both worlds, although is not as good as the afore mentioned titles. Simply your collection is not complete without Alpha Omega, the third Cro Mags release.

Album Description

It's obvious that as of right now...this band has never sounded better...that shuddering doom chug and emotive vocal roar all present and correct, but the highlight here for me is “Cold”, a chilling, heartfelt dooooom anthem, laidback but majestically heavy, working up to an addictive rolling-thunder Sab riff...loose and groovy it may be but it's dejected and destructive and all the right doom words too. C'mon brothers and sisters, submit yourselves to Penance.” (9/10, Terrorizer Magazine)

4 out of 5 stars The Children Of Doom Return To Make You Feel Their Pain.......2002-04-20

Alpha And Omega is more than just a collection of songs,it is an experience. Many would call the music on this cd suicidal, but I found it to be an electric catharsis. The five individuals that crafted this nigh masterpiece of mood seem to take a lifetime's worth of sorrow and disillusionment, wallow in it for awhile, and then expunge it to purify their souls and yours too. Maybe I'm reading too much into Alpha And Omega, but to me listening to this record was like being left behind in a dark forest in the dead of night while nine sonic wolves nip at,bay at,and stalk you until daybreak. Black Sabbath is an obvious influence, but I also hear bands like Quartz,Cathedral,Trouble and the Spiritual Beggars on tracks like "Wizards Of Mind","See The Light",and "Reaching". Naturally,I would recommend this to fans of doom metal and "stoner rock",but I would go even further to include anyone who wants to explore the nameless, unknowable parts of their own psyche via quality,cast-iron songcraft. Alpha And Omega is the aural equivalent of weathering a storm in a turbulent sea with only a vessel built from Sabbath,Bloody,Sabbath,Psalm 9,Stand Up And Fight, and Ad Astra to shield you from the elements.

There are problems with the disc, namely the somewhat muddy production, and the spacey, psychadelic parts, but one suspects that this was intentional. The production making the music sound appropriately ancient, like a trip through an old,long-abandoned cerebral coal mine, and the slow contemplative parts symbolizing calm before and after total chaos.Penance are adults(in the true, mental sense) writing about anguish, and frustration. They are not a childish nu-metal band performing "songs" that are about rebellion and resenting your parents.Penance should be commended for their personal, mature take on what could and is often easily cliched. Wednesday's children are full of woe indeed, but this time they are armed with all the power chords and Jupiterian riffage needed to frighten away one's inner demons.

5 out of 5 stars Sleeping with Dan..........2003-01-12

A while ago I was given Dan Chadburn's CD, Solo Piano as a gift and had set it aside until recently. While I was down with the flu, I went looking for some soothing music to help me sleep. I found Mr. Chadburn's CD and thought it sounded like a perfect choice - and It was! It not only quickly ushered me into peaceful dreams but (having my player set on continuous play) was there to welcome me awake with inspiration, energy and HEALTH! I'm no Doctor, but I figured if sleeping with Dan Chadburn helped me get well, what would living with him do for me? Ok, I'm being silly here...but I really am a HUGE fan now! Playing his Solo Piano while I work, play, and LIVE has really been amazing -- his music speaks the perfect language of inspiration and peace to my soul. Please, don't take my word for it... Let your soul decide -- Enjoy!

A classical piano masterpiece... this is easily one of my favorite soothing cd's. I have the sheet music book as well, which is amazing... complex! I ordered Reflections from Dan and once I have it, I'll get that book too... Buy this album! --mark-- np: Dan Chadburn - Solo Piano

5 out of 5 stars from Solo Piano Publications.......2000-02-02

Dan Chadburn's debut recording is a soaring collection of thirteen wonderful compositions and improvisations. Some solo piano albums seem a bit empty and in need of accompaniment, but Dan clearly indicates why solo piano can be the most expressive of any musical medium. I've probably listened to this album at least twenty times, but each time, I've discovered something new, and the songs always seem as fresh as the first time I heard them. Dan's playing style reflects his classical background, as well as his love of improvisation, and his compositions are full of passion and emotion without being overblown or melodramatic.

The CD opens with "Beginnings", a sweetly uplifting piece full of hope and the joy of discovery. "Solitude" is spare and very atmospheric - I can picture someone playing this in a dark, empty room with only moonlight for illumination. My favorite song on the album is "Silence Once Served", an introspective piece of musical soul-searching. The melody is simple, but so heartfelt that it affects me every time. "Midnight Romance" is a gently swirling waltz - quiet but passionate. "Elegy" is my other favorite piece. As its title indicates, there is a feeling of loss and sadness, but there is also a feeling of celebration of someone's life. Gentle, yet very strong, there is an intensely personal feeling in this piece. "Home Again" lightens the mood, conveying warmth and a sense of relief at being back "home" - very contented!

Excellent from start to finish, I highly recommend this album!

I own both Refletions and Solo Piano, and never tire of listening to either one. When I play either album in my office, I am immediately asked who the artist is and where can they get the album. As soon as you hear the music, you are trasported to a beautiful and peaceful place. Dan is a very talented artist. I can't wait for he and Tom to put out another album.

I heard one of DanChadburn's songs on internet radio, "Companion" and knew I had to buy the CD ! Love his keyboard style, and the oboe and French horn weave beautifully into several of the songs. Recommend this CD!!!

5 out of 5 stars from Solo Piano Publications.......2000-01-22

Dan Chadburn's second album of impressive piano pieces quickly went from being an exciting discovery to one of my "Top 10 Favorite" albums for 1999. Four tracks include strings, flute, and/or horns, and eight are solo piano. The closing track, "Stay With Me" is one of the few vocal selections on otherwise instrumental albums that I really like. In most cases, for me, these songs seem awkward and out of place, but "Stay With Me" fits in very nicely and brings this excellent collection to a warm and tender close.

My favorite piece on "Reflections" is "Shifting Sands", a pensive and somewhat somber solo piano work. The meter changes several times during the course of the piece, giving a sense of questioning or perhaps confusion. Passions rise as the piece develops, and then quiet to a feeling of inner peace. Pieces like this make my fingers itch to play them!

The title track is a lovely, wistful opening to the CD - reminiscing set to music. "Dream Catcher" is also a gentle, flowing piano solo. "Nightfall" is a soothing duet for piano and viola. "Amazing Grace" seems to be to the late `90s and early 2000s what Pachelbel's "Canon in D" was to the `80s. I've reviewed three albums in the past few months that included it, and all had a lovely interpretation that was different from the others. Dan's "hymntune improvisation" on this beloved hymn is fresh and contemporary while still true to the song's sacred roots. "Invitation" is perhaps the most upbeat song in this collection. It is full of changing themes that dance and sing and maybe even plead a little bit. "Companion" is truly a love song with strings and horns gently underscoring the emotions expressed so beautifully. "Farewell" tugs at the heartstrings. Summed up in a single word, "Wow!"

The warmth and sincerity of Dan Chadburn's playing and composing are refreshing, soothing, and inspiring. I am so happy to have found his music, and look forward to seeing what else he has up his sleeve!

5 out of 5 stars My Reflection.......1999-11-28

Thankyou for sharing your music with with us. I've just gotten done listening to "Reflections" for the tenth time in as many days. Each time I listen I'm struck by the intense emotions that the melodies bring out in me. I feel the power and comfort in the track "A Mother's Love" and "Companion" brings me back to all of the special people who have touched my life. Great job with "Stay with Me". Abby won't stop singing it. I'm proud to pass "Reflections" on as a stocking stuffers to my closest friends. Keep the music coming!

4 out of 5 stars Fantastic CD, but I don't like the acoustics.............2004-03-22

I am very happy Douglas Cleveland choose to perform a few contemporary pieces. These days there is so much good modernistic music yet very much CD's just perform the same old, same old.

Dan Locklair is a great composer, "Windows of comfort" is a set of musical paintings inspired by the Texan designer Louis Comfort. The music is great in style, ethereal as well as dramtic. Locklair always uses beatifull melodies and the main melody he uses in Windows of Comfort is very nice.

Another composer featured on this disc is Pamela Decker. Miss Decker is one of those rare heared geniuses in the world of organmusic. The work "Kairos" is all about time, creative waiting and change through waiting. Altough the work is exeptionally difficult to perform, Cleveland does an outstanding job. One can hear that Pamela Decker is also inpsired by Dupré (in the dramatic part of Kairos).

The last six pieces of this CD are a bit of a dissapointment. Not that Langlais and Duruflé aren't performed well, but the acoustics are a bit overspacious, stuff get's drowned in the reverberation and the registration really has to fight with the acoustics. But this doesn't make the CD unlistenable, so it's still a good buy.

4 out of 5 stars Well-Titled Album.......2001-02-18

When I purchased this album, I was impressed with the sound of the instrument, the accuracy of the organist, and the choice of music. With one exception, there aren't any pieces that are considered well-known, but all of them are well played and fairly easily appreciated.

Only one problem exists, and that is with the naming of the pieces. One of the "pieces" listed is "Windows of Comfort" by Dan Locklair. This is actually a suite of ten pieces; however, only three of the pieces from that suite are played. If a person purchased the album to obtain a recording of that complete suite (as I did), that person will be somewhat disappointed.

3 out of 5 stars Catchy and addictive.......2004-06-01

Project Pitchfork's music is the harshest I go in terms of ENJOYING industrial music. Mid-tempo industrial would best describe their sound. Harsh, abrasive, loud, but very catchy, dancable and not too fast and frenzied. This cd is pretty much the middle ground in terms of Project Pitchfork's musical collection as well, although both extremes are covered. The organic and divinely dreamy "Green World" is practically a lullaby as far as PP's music goes while "The Animal" is easily one of the harshest PP songs I have heard. That's why I would recommend this cd as the best starting point for someone unfamiliar with their sound.

The best songs are the mid-tempo industrial dance songs, which are "Silent Scream", "Requiem", and "Endzeit". "Alpha Omega" is also a good song and if you like it then you will absolutely love the (Over 10 minute!) reprise "Omega Alpha" which blows "Alpha Omega" away. As stated by another reviewer here, songs from the EP "Corps D'amour" should have been included here. It would have made this album a lot better. Amazon.com currently doesn't have "Corps D'amour" available but it would definitely be worth the effort to find it, especially if you enjoyed this album. "Corps D'amour" is a six track EP that is similar to "Alpha Omega" only better.

Another note worth mentioning is the nifty Tin box( as opposed to a normal plastic jewel case ), which is really unique and cool, as long as you have the patience to snap it apart and closed.

If you're not too partial to industrial but still like your synth aggressive then get "IO" instead, which is their best. Then check out "Chakra:Red!"( 2nd best ) for an even more dance orientated cd with the classic Project Pitchfork flair.

5 out of 5 stars Album with a Message.......2003-11-12

Alpha Omega sums up this album, it being the title and seemingly the central theme or motif of this disc. This is one of the slower and more industrial sounding of the P.P. discs in comparison to the more recent additions. AO will entrance you and envelope you in the lyrics and sound. You'll enjoy the subtleness and apparent yet intracate melodies in this disc. As they say in the first track, "Small things are Big, Huge things are Small. Tiny acts have Huge effects"

5 out of 5 stars Great Pitchfork CD.......2002-05-17

... Pitchfork is more into composing songs that make a direct statement compared to Skinny Puppy, who are far more interested in musical experimentation.

Honestly, this is one of my favorite Project Pitchfork CDs. It isn't as heavy as some of their earlier stuff, and not as light as the newer material they've put out recently. I think that is what makes this CD so great. I can put on Alpha Omega no matter what mood I'm in, and I'll enjoy listening to it. The closest comparison I would make is to "IO" or "Entities".

This is a slower album, but not weak. The songs are airy and dreamy. The lyrics are not as fantastic as on Pitchfork's later works, but are still very expressive of the frustration and exasperation that the songs wish to relate. This is not the Ministry/:Wumpscut: type of industrial. It's not dance-y like V.A.C., and it's not as (sorry) wussie as VNV Nation. That's why I like "Alph Omega", and why I like Project Pitchfork. They really do have their own distinct sound.

3 out of 5 stars good though not brilliant.......2001-03-02

It seems the main point here is the comparison between Skinny Puppy and Project Pitchfork; I'm not a SP fan, that's true, they are more importans because of their influence upon other bands than because of their music itself, which souns much too raw and lacks melody; but apart from my taste, I think Project Pichfor has nothing to do with Skinny Puppy. But let's talk about Alpha-Omega: Many people is a bit too severe with this album, which is not that bad, in fact it's quite ok. But the main problem this cd had is that it followed Pitchfork's master album 'IO' which is actually better than Alpha-Omega; but the latter does contain very good songs, such as the moody and sweet 'Green World', 'Requiem', the militar-oriented rhythm of 'Cold Heart', or my favourite two, 'Silent Scream' and 'Revolution Now'. Also 'Alpha-Omega' is a very good song; but it's true that there are some songs (The animal, Endzeit') which are not as good as it should. However, this album is better for example than 'Lam-Bras', which does contain some bad songs; If Project Pitchfork had chosen the best 6 or 7 songs of this album and 3 or 4 from 'Corps d'amour' (an EP from the same year 1995), they would have definetely accomplished their best effort ever, a real masterpiece. But despite this, Alpha-Omega is a good cd, and the last of their typical style which would be temporally broken with 'Chakra:Red'.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Record.......2000-08-09

I've heard (and read) a lot of reviews about this album and project pitchfork in general and a lot of them say they sound like Skinny Puppy. Do you people even LISTEN to music? This band does NOT sound like skinny puppy. Skinny Puppy could take lessons from the musicians in this band. Alpha Omega is one of Project Pitchforks best albums. (Entities being the best). Project Pitchfork has awesome melodies and soothing sounds with and edge and words that acually MEAN something. Buy this album and LISTEN.
