Fun Family Music.......2007-04-11
This is a fun musical experience for kids of all ages. My son (age 9) has memorized almost all of the songs and loves the humor in the music. we have given this CD as a gift numerous times and every one seems to love it.
Truly a Family Party.......2007-01-19
Good CD to listen to with the kids. Great change of pace for when the kids start to wear out one of their other favorite CDs. A few of the songs are geared more for the adults than the kids but a good mix of songs for everyone.
New Mom...New Trout Fan.......2005-09-08
OK,I admit it...I ordered this CD because of one song, My Hair Had A Party Last Night (The phrase has become a regular morning greeting in our house.) The great surprise about this CD...every song is a winner. No telling kids what to do or think, just great songs about cool stuff that sounds like fun! We love it!
Buy it!!!.......2004-05-30
Love, love, love!!! I have given this CD numerous times as a gift. Just a great collection of songs! I DARE you to NOT try to count along with 18 Wheels on a Big Rig!
For "adult" Trout, check out "Reel Life"...I listen to it all the time, even after owning it for about 7 years now. Enjoy!
kids music for adults.......2004-05-10
For everyone who has ever said "not AGAIN" when loading traditional "kids" music in the car, this is the album for your family. We got ours on cassette and wore it out; we're still not tired of it. Who can resist a group that counts to 18 in roman numerals and gets it right? The songs are singable, danceable, and great fun. It's got just the right mix of fast and slow, silly and serious, and none of the annoying frenetic goofiness often heard in kids albums.

The Last Broadcast sees Doves frontman Jimi Goodwin and multi-instrumentalist brothers Andy and Jez Williams soaring to new if perhaps grandiose heights. The thundering opening beat and spiraling guitars of "Words" are reminiscent of Ride at their bombastic peak, and "There Goes the Fear" has relentlessly reverberating Latin rhythms, New Order-influenced guitars, and sweeping vocals that are nothing less than breathtaking. Quiet reprieve comes with "M62," a delicate haunting reworking of King Crimson's "Moonchild," bizarrely recorded under the M62 flyover in Manchester, and its desolate atmospherics are juxtaposed against the remainder of the album. With the thrusting onslaught of "Pounding," the obligatory earthy rock of "N.Y.," and the joyous pastoral acoustic-led splendor of "Caught by the River," the Doves have crafted a liberating sophomore album that happily combines the uplifting anthemic essence of dance with good old rock & roll. --Christopher Barret
Album Details
The Follow Up to the Critically Acclaimed 'lost Souls' Dispels Any Prior Notion that this Band Are Melancholy. Their Collective Confidence and Cohesion as Well as Strong Positive Attitude Come Through Each Note of this Album as You'll Hear the Moment the Laser Hits the Disc. This is an Auspicious Occasion Where the Band Prove to the World that They Indeed Belong in that Class of Groups with Radiohead, U2, Oasis and all the Rest...where Everything They Do Justifies Attention and the Praise Heaped on them from the Beginning. The First Album was Born Out of Frustration and Countless Setbacks. This Time, It's Solid and as Nme Says, 'something Fresh and New. It's a Euphoric Experience...and One that Finally Reveals What a Great Band the Doves Are.'
Customer Reviews:
fantastic.......2007-02-25
To me this is their best album so far ( 2007). It's absolutely incredible. After falling head over heel for this one I bought their other albums and although they're good they don't match the quality of this one, for me. This is a perfect album, no dud and plenty of full force space rock. The vocals are amazing and the sound is grandiose. I'll be enjoying this one for years.
Grandiose!, Epic! Mancunian!.......2006-11-11
A great album from a band that hasn't even begun to hit their stride! If I were to make a list of the cd's that I would take with me to a deserted island, this cd would be near the top.
Simply dull .......2006-08-15
Dull and uninspiring, listening to this CD I couldn't see what distinguished the Doves from the other insipid sound-a-like bands that plague the modern music scene. If you like The White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers then be grateful that they've saved rock music from boring dross like this!
A Beautiful Thing.......2006-07-06
I bought this album last year after having had it recommended to me. I bought without any previous experience of the band whatsoever (despite coming from Britain) but a single listen was all it took to turn me into a diehard Doves fan. You should wallow in the album. It envelops you, it draws you in. It tugs the heartstrings without being mawkish. It is a Beautiful Thing.
On an album full of highlights my personal favourite which hasn't really been highlighted in previous reviews is `Friday's Dust', a haunting, orchestral piece that still puts the hairs on the back of my neck on edge. It is a sensational track which will pass many casual listeners by as it was never released as a single and is not particularly radio-friendly. However it is a song that, along with track 2 `Words', really sums up what Doves are about. They are far more insightful than Coldplay or Travis ever could be but they are still a rock and roll band capable of writing hits to unite the most demanding festival crowd.
Doves should be saluted for this album. In an era when most new British rock bands are looking at the past for inspiration (step forward the cringingly awful ska-cum-Smiths wannabes The Ordinary Boys and a multitude of The Jam clones) Doves are making profound music that sounds like it belongs to the 21st century whilst paying the proper respect to music history that it should. Synthesisers mix freely with acoustic guitars, orchestras and eerie sound effects to create an overall sound that makes all the songs on this album instantly recognisable from either of Doves other offerings.
My Favorite Doves Album.......2006-03-16
The Last Broadcast is the musical expression of where one goes when one hides from one's emotional vulnerabilities into the realm of the depths of one's imagination.
I like every song on this album including the two tracks which are really build ups into other songs.
There Goes the Fear
Words
Sulphur Man
Pounding
Caught by River
and Satellites (which almost reminds me of an updated variation of XTC's "Satellites") are all songs that are pockets of proud melancholy.
The deep baritone vocals are reminiscent of Red House Painters or Ride. The music is reminiscent of The Verve.
But the sound is very unique and the album is as good as any I've got in my collection.

Product Description
With the intimacy of singer-songwriters like Beth Orton and Damien Rice, and the power and intensity of bands like U2 and Coldplay, In Flight Radio's self-titled debut is a collection of unique and memorable songs that stay with you long after the last chord has faded away. Led by singer/ songwriter Peira, each song conveys well crafted acoustic-based rock with ethereal guitars and revealing lyrics. Peira echoes a female Chris Martin as she effortlessly sings from the airy top of her register down to the lush bottom end of her voice. Darko Saric's swelling electric guitars fill the room with infectious hooks, while drummer Mike Parker and bassist Devin Krug hold down the rhythm section. In addition, Devin makes a strong appearance as lead vocalist for a few songs. /

Customer Reviews:
"Last" is best.......2005-03-20
The Doves set the bar high in "Lost Souls," but they jump that high again in "The Last Broadcast." While not being repetitive, the Manchester band follows the basics of its debut -- epic, mind-blowing pop tunes, but this time around they have a new enthusiasm and positivity. In a word, it's a budding Britpop classic.
A panoramic instrumental "Intro" opens the album, luring you in with a crystalline melody. Prepare to be hooked within a minute and a half. Then comes the forceful, riff-driven "Words," which announces that "words they mean nothing/so you can't hurt me!" Then there's an epic rocker in "There Goes the Fear" and folkier in "M62 Song," before the tempo changes.
The softer side of the Doves is revealed in the ethereal, almost orchestral "Where We're Calling From," and the eerie, trembling grandeur of "Friday's Dust." But the highlight of the entire album is undoubtedly the expansive, goosebump-inducing "Sulphur Man," with its backdrop of shimmering strings, glockenspiel and rising synths.
Britpop has now been more or tagged as Radiohead and Coldplay -- both lovely bands, but not representative of all British pop and rock. The Doves have an entirely different sound, haunting and rocking all at once. But this time, rather than being depressed, they rock out with a bit of a smile. Not a huge one, but a passionate one.
Keyboards mixed with percussion and guitar riffs are nothing new, but they sound very fresh when the Doves play them that way. Especially when they break out the string section -- violins, viola, cello, and more. Musically they run the gamut from old-fashioned rock, to stately psychedelica, to the gospel flavour of "Satellite."
The vocals are wonderfully suited to the expansive music -- pensive and a little sweet, and usually very thoughtful-sounding. And the songwriting has a simplicity and depth that most rock and pop music doesn't have -- "Pills stop you, stopped you from feeling life/Fall into a hole/Sympathy and all/A soul in tatters/A soul black as coal/I hope, I hope/I wish you could find what matters."
"The Last Broadcast" is a lot like the album cover -- dark and yet light, beautiful and sparkling, with a slightly unreal look. The Doves don't disappoint in their sophomoe album, and show plenty of musical promise for the future.

Truly a legend Disk Jockey and The Father of Latin Jazz.......2005-09-17
I don't remember the Symphony Sid Show but I heard stories from my family members at the age of 5 and 7. My family use to stay up all night just to listen to this incredible Jewish decent disk jockey that was given the name The Father of Latin Jazz who commercialized Latin Jazz, Latin Soul and the Boogaloo tunes on the radio. Other radio disk jockies followed the path of Symphony Sid (Sid Torin.) Pacquito Navarro stated in his farewell speech on this album "Although Symphony Sid is retiring from radio, his name is going to be like a seal" and will never be forgotten. Symphony Sid opened the doors for Latin Jazz on the radio. Pacquito Navarro also famously known as PACO for Disco 92 WKTU in NYC in the late 70s knew what he was talking about when he uttered those words to Symphony Sid. I believe Symphony Sid selected the best songs for this farwell tribute album recorded in 1972. This CD is a must have. For more information on Symphony Sid Show visit www.thelatinsoulshow.com You will get a sample of the Latin Jazz songs Symphony Sid aired in the 60s and early 70s. Long live the King of Radio Disk Jockies, Symphony Sid.
