Amazon.com Product Description
The smallest and lightest altimeter watch on the market, the state-of-the-art Highgear 20014 Axis is a favorite of outdoor enthusiasts everywhere. The Axis employs the finest Swiss sensors to create the most accurate and dependable readings possible, making it a great tool for mountain climbers, hikers, heliskiers, and other adventurers. The device is centered around its altimeter, which measures the user's altitude from a range of -2,296 to 29,500 feet. The current, accumulated, and maximum altitude readings are accurate to within 3 feet, and are represented in graphic form with a trend display. The watch can store as many as 20 altimeter readings, with the altitude, time, and date of each archived for future use.Of course, altitude isn't the only concern when adventuring--storms and other weather threats are also vitally important. That's why Highgear included a digital barometer, which measures the sea level pressure and absolute pressure in mbars. The working range spans from 300 to 1,100 mbar, and the readings fit within a 24-hour bar chart of barometric trends. The barometer even incorporates a weather forecasting option (for those who can't do the work themselves), letting users take shelter or turn back before rain or snowstorms hit unexpectedly. Hikers and climbers trekking through unfamiliar terrain will appreciate the digital compass, which displays the bearing in both degrees and cardinal points (with a 1 degree resolution). The declination is adjustable, and users have the option of taking single or continuous readings depending on the situation.
Additional features include a digital thermometer with a working range of -14 to 140 degrees F and a 0.1 degree resolution; dual time-zone settings; a chronograph with lap data storage (maximum of 50 laps/20 runs, with times for each lap and split, along with best and average lap speed); a dual daily alarm; and a three-second backlight for nighttime viewing. The watch, which comes in an attractive graphite black color, is water-resistant to 30 meters and weighs 2.5 ounces. The Axis is also backed by a two-year warranty on parts and labor.
