Excellent unit for the price. Do not need to spend $700 more for Sony.
To take a full advantage of resolution and contrast need to have a good HD signal (cable, Fios, Blue ray)

HDTV image is gorgeous,especially after adjusting the contrast. Vanns provided good shipping time,great service,and promptly arranged for refund of price drop when requested.Would recommend both the TV and Vanns in a heartbeat

WARNING, DO NOT BUY THIS SET UNLESS YOU NEED OR CAN USE A CABLE CARD. Buy the cheaper version without it that is the same in every other way.

Pros.

Black levels look very good for a LCD, matter of fact when bright levels are set up for watching a movie in a dark room the black areas almost blend into the piano plack frame of the TV.

The mura/clouding is very low, almost non existant on my set, something
Sony hasn't been doing so well at

The colors look great as well after some adjusting

The responce time is fast enough to work fine with PS3 games even when The Sammy isnt set to game mode.

The black finish looks great and high class and the stand is nice.

Nice range and number of imputs even if another HDMI would be nice

Easy to use and set up menu wise.

Cons.
Poor remote... I really dislike the way it behaves and its lay out.

The picture quality controls are a bit too simple and limited for a TV in this class in my opinion, just not enough user controled options.

The digital audio out seems to revert all imputs from a HDMI cable to just standard PCM stereo instead of Dolby 5.1 ect.. that maybe comming from the HDMI cable.

The secondary PIP picture can only come from two sources, over the air or the internal cable card capability, so anything hooked up by HDMI or component or composit cables can't be displayed.

The picture quality with lower def signals are only fair as expected, but I know some other sets do better. I have actually found that using the old cheap RF cable as the imput from my DTV box looks better then component cables since it takes out some of the blockyness.

The zoom function designed to make a 16:9 picture transmitted in a 4:3 box fill the screen chops off a tiny bit of the edges, this really goes back to not enough user adjustability problem.

Over all it's a fantastic set for the money that I think nearly every one will be happy with. I'd given if 5 stars with a couple small improvements, improvements a lot of people wouldn't even notice or care about.

I have had the TV for a couple of months... absolutely love it... why go through all of the agony with XB2 clouding issues when a wonderful TV set is available by a great brand... I have always had Sony but I was not playing hit or miss with a $3000 piece of equipment... plus, the Samsung looks great!!! So far so great!!!!!!

I got my Sammy on 25th January. This 46" Samsung rocks, it's the best !!! It's wicked sweet. I don't regret not getting the XBR2. I had a pleasantly effortless ordering process from Amazon, who used an outside store to supply and ship the TV. Price was not the lowest, but I went with Amazon because of their reputation. They had it for $50 more than lowest. FedEx freight shipping brought it to me in 3 days to NY. I had digital cable from Time Warner when the set arrived. The set was stunning out of the box. The free HD channels in the 700's were unbelievable. I added the pkg with 5 more HD channels ($9) which are also great (HDnet, InHD ect.). I plan to go to Direct TV only because I need to get a particular sports package (World series Cricket). Pros: gloss blank piano look, picture, numerous menu settings, sound is decent. Cons: None so far.

I am currently searching for a source or tool for making the picture even better (if thats even possible). I have heard of a DVD out there that can did this. Also I'm shopping for a more economical cost for mounting the set with the wires hidden behind the wall. Any suggestions? BB and CC are charging $500. I want to have it done right so I don't really want to skimp on this.

Back to the set, you'll love it....trust me. I say go with 46" if you sit 10' away. Go with 40" if you sit any closer.\
