Product Description

Overheating laptops are a bigger problem than most people realize, as heat reduces system stability and harms the lifespan of your electronics. To combat this problem, you need the Antec Notebook Cooler! Increasing the cooling your laptop gets can help it last longer, and may reduce or even eliminate system crashes.

3 out of 5 stars It's very loud, i said it IS loud........2007-05-30

It's very loud, It's very loud, It's very loud, Get Targus cooler instead if you are a sensitive person and cannot stand the fan noisy. Did I say its LOUD??

4 out of 5 stars Every laptop should have one of these........2007-05-26

Pro: Has a high and low speed. Low is silent and high makes just a tiny humming noise. Been using it for 1 1/2 years with no problems. Comes with adapter so you can share a USB port with an external mouse or keyboard instead of taking up an entire USB port by itself.
Con: There are no cons.

Every laptop owner should purchase some sort of external cooler. I have 2 Dell Latitude laptops (6 months old and 1 1/2 years old) that each had a harddrive crash because the internal fan was not cooling the computer sufficiently. The external cooler solves this problem.

5 out of 5 stars Phenomenal product for hot-running laptops.......2007-05-17

The title of the review about sums it up: what a PHENOMENAL product. Just the right size to transport in the inner sleeve of a laptop bag and powerful enough to keep my Dell Inspiron 600m markedly cooler (prior to using the Antec, my laptop was running inordinately hot on the underside of the casing to the extent that there are scorch marks on the plastic). Having already lost a motherboard from over-heating, the search for a cooling solution carried some urgency. After eight hours of trial operation, I found the Antec USB-Powered Notebook Cooler did the job quietly and efficiently, reducing internal and ambient laptop temperatures by at least 10-15 degrees.

As far as construction, the Antec is lightweight and durable (an aluminum faceplate aids in the heat dissipation, while other manufacturers tend to use a less-efficient plastic design). Fan noise, even on the highest setting, projects no louder than the internal processor fan of my laptop. A few online forum complaints have arisen pertaining to the USB cable and some clarification is due. While the cable is of a lighter gauge, it should hold up without incident under normal operations. A pass-through USB connection bridges off the back of the Antec cable also: a well-thought-out consideration for those needing that extra port for peripherals.

From where this appreciative consumer stands (or sits, as the case may be), I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Thank you to Antec for offering such a remarkable cooling solution for mobile users who need to keep working long hours.

5 out of 5 stars works for us.......2007-05-15

We have a Toshiba U205, which is notorious now for freezing after getting hot and the fan hypering out. Bought the cooling pad and placed it as directed. Even though the laptop was not even hot yet the internal temp dropped from 39 to 35 C immediately.

I guess the success depends on your laptop brand the positioning of the original venting.

For the U205 it works fantastic!

5 out of 5 stars Cool Cooler.......2007-05-14

I put off buying one of these things for a year and a bit more, though my sister insisted I get one a cooler so that my laptop could work better. I treat my laptop as if it were a desktop computer, so it was on for many many many hours. I could hear the vents from the laptop trying to cool off and I also felt my keyboard kinda warm, so I finally decided to buy this cooler. There were others I had my eyes on, but I also think on my pocket (though they had really good reviews/stars they were very expensive) this one on the other hand had good reviews and relatively good # of stars.

I really like the way this cooler works, it has definitely minimized the warmness (if that's a word) of my keyboard. It's not what I would call noisy, you can obviously listen that the vents are working but not to the point where I cannot concentrate b/c of the noise, I think that when I type I make about the same amount of noise. I actually use it on "low" speed and works very well; but I assume that you'd use it in high in case your laptop gets hot very easily. In terms of size, it really works great with my 17 wide in laptop, I just have to position my laptop correctly. Another good thing that you'll find in this cooler is that although you need a USB connector, you can still use it for other applications, so that's good too. The only thing that well, really will depend on how you work, is that the cooler has this blue light that lets you know it's on, since I leave mine on all day, it's on all day long (I guess it's good in case you leave it on at night as a reminder to turn it off if you do so, otherwise I'd recommend you get something to cover the light).

Overall, I like this product and I'm glad I bought it.
