It appears to record great (did some test recordings with my 60G video ipod with case on). It's not playable in my iTunes window though, even by following the instructions. I have to re-read the manual or search online. Time will tell if it actually records sound.

When I got this product I thought the sound was going to sound like a tape recorder but the sound was awesome. it has a gain button as well. I think that I will start using this as a lavaliere.

Awesome product - couldn't be easier to use. I recommend getting the iPod AC adapter too, which plugs right in the bottom of the Belkin TuneTalk. I use it to record my Acoustic Solo gigs. I record directly into it through RCA jacks out of my PA (You'll need an RCA to 1/8" mini adapter)and I've recorded using the built-in Microphones. Both are great, and I'm still experimenting with it. I just purchased an Audio Technica Stereo Condenser Mic and a 25 foot headphone extension cable, (with 1/8" male & female ends), so I can get the mic in front of the speakers. I 100% recommend it - the other ones don't allow you to use an AC adapter - The battery will drain quickly without it.

i bought this for my 72-year old father to record his memoirs, and he finds it simple and easy to use. it also captures voice recordings in many kinds of settings, from crowded restaurants to outdoors. a great gadget for basic recording. it's also really handy that you can charge your ipod while recording, so you're not dependent on battery life. i'm not a sound techie, so i'm sure there are super-high quality devices out there for professionals, but for basic use, this is a good buy.

This is actually the second Tune Talk I have purchased. I work at a university and part of my job is developing online courses. Podcasting is making an increasing presence in online courses and we are always looking for ways to simplify the process while providing a quality product. Quality voice recording is a challenge and the Tune Talk addresses that challenge very well. The device mounts easily to the bottom of an iPod and immediately configures for recording. The process is simple and intuitive. The recording is saved to the iPod and can be later synchronized with iTunes. Recordings are down as high quality stereo wave files - which can later be edited and/or compressed. Recording quality is excellent. Very clear and free of the hiss one often hears with inexpensive recording devices. Many others on campus use the device as well and all seemed pleased with the result. The term "studio quality" sometimes slips into descriptions. Were this device used in a sound proof environment I would cautiously use studio quality to describe the results. Definitely worth the money.
