Doesn't work on Vista.......2007-04-27

I bought this for my new laptop with no parallel port, which is running Windows Vista. Unfortunately, as of today (4/26/07) this cable only comes with drivers for Windows 98 and Windows XP, not Windows Vista. I tried installing the XP driver, but to no avail. Buy a different cable if you have Vista or or planning on upgrading to Vista.

Everything was as mentioned on website. However I found that it doesn't work with Vista, at least right now.

I bought this cable to connect an HP laptop (running XP) to an HP LaserJet 6L printer. XP did not recognize the cable as new hardware. I tried to install manually using the Install New Hardware feature, but that didn't work either. I finally bought a Belkin cable (about twice the price), and it worked like a charm.

Simple solution...........2006-08-07

I bought a new computer and didn't realize that it did not have a parallel port for my printer. I came across this cable on Amazon, where the price was half that of any similar cables in other stores. I plugged it in and made sure to change the printer port to USB (per the advice of other reviewers) and it worked like a charm. Less than 5 minutes and it was up and running.

This cable, which no one at any computer store or value-added reseller that I spoke with knew of, is the sure-fire cure to the problem of how to connect a new laptop (they don't come with parallel ports anymore) using one of it's USB ports to your (or someone else's) older printer. It works great!
