I originally bought a firewire cable at Best Buy for $36.00 and then realized that my PC did not even have a firewire port. I found this product on Amazon and got it for $17.00 shipped. It gave me the PCI firewire port card and the cable. The only issue I have had is that when the video is being captured a few times the video on the PC got choppy but when I burned to DVD it came out fine and a few timed it did not recognize the camera the first time but I just replugged it and it came up the second time. Overall great deal for the money.

Recognized by Windows Vista without the need for any driver disk. Seems to work well. Included firewire card is a nice extra.

I just recently purchased a DV Camcorder and I needed to purchase a Firewire port along with it. Found this for very cheap and I have been very happy with the performance. The reason I give it 5 stars is because the price is low and it also comes with it's own Firewire cord.

Unable to capture!.......2006-12-09

This card installed properly and is recognized as a standard OHCI card by Windows XP Home SP2. My camcorder is also recognized by Windows in the control panel. I can control my JVC miniDV camcorder with it. FFwd, Rev, Play, Pause, Stop works. But I am unable to view or to capture video with it. I am using a Dell Dimension 3000 Celeron D 2.66GHz. I tried two different firewire cables, tried the card in two different PCI slots, tried all ports on the card one by one. Still no video in Windows Movie Maker or Nero7. Boot, re-boot, cycle power...

The same camcorder works fine using same cable on a Compaq 5700T running Windows 98SE (PIII/500MHz)! Has built-in Firewire ports.

I will spend more on a Firewire card next time.
