Smell Is a Deal Breaker.......2006-10-04

I wish I had read the Amazon reviews of this item before I paid $19 for it at an office supply store. It may seem a bit trivial, but the smell of this wrist pad was a deal breaker. It's unfortunate, too, because everything else about it is perfect: the color, the comfortable gel support and soft fabric, and the size (it runs the length of my Mac keyboard and provides support when I use my mouse). But the smell: a piercing, toxic smell that does not go away. It doesn't matter if I spend five minutes or five hours in front of my computer, I still smell the synthetic backing of the wrist pad, and it's made it impossible for me to work. I finally had to get rid of it.

I have had it for 3+ weeks now, the smell from the back of the
gel pad does not go away. It is so strong that I can almost get a
high on it !

After having some trouble with my wrists (I type a lot) I decided to buy this wrist rest, and I think it can be summed up by saying 'It's very nice'. In addition to having a soft, gel texture(contrasting with other less comfortable wrist rests, it's also an ideal height for whatever keyboard you're using.

The only problem I had with it is that inadvertantly dragging my watch across the surface of it (while moving my hands across the keyboard) put some little imperfections in it because of the material it's made out of. Except this is only a very minor aesthetic thing, it's still just as good. Additionally, I had no problem getting used to it, oddly, and now I can't imagine being without one.

Very good buy... well worth it.
