In addition to a standard-broadcast NTSC tuner, it also features an integrated ATSC tuner that can capture over-the-air digital broadcasts from local network affiliates (the set will still require a set-top tuner for receiving non-terrestrial HD broadcasts from channels like HBO or Discovery).

The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. Thanks to the new 13-bit processing capability of DNIe, the HP-S4253 can produce over 549 billion colors (compared to the one billion colors that TVs with 10-bit processing can produce.

This set features a 1024 x 768-pixel resolution, 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, 175-degree viewing angle, brightness rating of 1300 cd/m2 (candela per square meter), and an amazing 10000:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.

I Just Love this TV.......2007-05-24

This amazing TV screen will not disappoint you! It has high definition with 024 x 768 pixel resolution. This huge 42" wide screen has really completed our home. The new amazing technology put in this television is sure to satisfy your dreams of how a TV should be. Many new features have been added to this spectacular buy. I just love this TV.

Highly Recommended.......2007-05-15

I purchased this TV in March for about $500 less than traditional stores. This TV is amazing but you must invest in high definition in order to truely maximize it's potential. This TV is perfect for high def sports and programs and awesome with an XBOX 360. A word of caution though. Lower your settings to about half way in order to avoid nasty burn in during the first 200 hours of viewing. Other than that this TV is an excellent choice.

Okay for the price........2007-05-08

I did a lot of research and I picked this TV for the good value. I was truely happy with this set for the first few months until the blue dots started showing up. The random blue dots only show up when I'm stretching a standard definition show and they only show in the top left part of the screen. It also seems to be related to the audio as I can see the beautiful "northern lights" change with the audio. If you only watch Hi-def then I would still recommend this screen. If you feel lucky or like a random 'northern lights' experience then I still recommend this screen. :-)

blue dots???.......2007-04-25

I got this tv for christmas and for the first few months I have no complaints. but after a few months I've noticed tiny blue dots in the center of the screen. Can anybody tell be what this is. It comes and goes and can be very annoying. Other than that its a decent tv for the price.

Great TV.......2007-04-25

A great set. Good sold picture, the sound is nothing to write home about but certainly more than enough for most TV. Hard core movie buffs will want to pick up a surround sound anyway.

The "Buzz" that you will read about in the other posts. It is there. I also use mine as a PC monitor and when there isn't any volume I do here it. It is very low and I didn't even notice it until I read about it here.

I think I'm going to keep this one for a VERY long time.
