Does the trick.......2007-04-24

I just received this today and had it locking down my HP Pavillion dv9000 in about three minutes. Seems to fit the locking slot just fine and does the trick of keeping it locked down so it can't walk away from my desk. Cable is thick and coated, so it won't scratch. One caveat, this thing is NOT light nor does it roll up into a neat little package. By comparison, it's a bit lighter and compact than an old printer cable (before USB). It's the weight factor that knocks off a star.

This product works great. Just tie a loop to a bed post or anything that stays in one place and you'll know where your laptop will be when you get back from the bathroom or anywhere else. It really easy to use and the cable is pretty heavy and it seems really strong. Unless someone is carrying around huge heavy duty strong scissors, your laptop will be safe. The cable is pretty long too. I recommend this product, just don't spill tea on your laptop.

This is a well made product. It has a fit and finish far above the common "tubular key" locks that I have used in the past.

The "disk" lock and key look like they would be very difficult to defeat.

I really like this product. The extra quality and security are worth the added cost. I will definitely purchase again.

This is by far the best laptop lock I've used so far. The cable is solid and thick, yet the lock head is relatively compact. It is strong and durable, and the lock mechanism is solid and secure.

Pretty useless on a MacBook.......2006-12-26

The lock itself is sound (I suppose). But I just want to let all the users of the popular MacBook (obviously myself included) not to waste their money on this one. The soft matte plastic of the black macbook around the kensington lock hole does hold up to the force required to engage and disengage this lock. After just two gentle lock and unlock motions with the hole for this thing on the side of my MacBook is disfigured and about double it's original size. I can easily see that if I used this thing daily to lock my MacBook to my desk (like I was intending to do) I'd soon have huge hole in the side of my notebook and a useless lock. Apple and Kensington what were you thinking? Thanks Kensington for ripping an eyesore into the side of beautiful black MacBook! Fortunately, if my rebate goes through I'll get half my money back.
