Used in RV with Car Stereo.......2007-05-14

I used this unit in my RV to run 3 pairs of speakers - 2 inside and 1 outside and it's worked great. I am sure I busted some sort of Audio Engineering rules, but it sure worked like a charm. I can now separate inside/outside/sleeping quarters and couldn't be happier. I also took the unit apart, drilled two holes in the top of it, and mounted it under the cabinets. It looks and works great.

I bought two MSS-4's.Hooked them up to my Harman/Kardon 3480 stereo receiver. They were easy to hook up. I like the feature of push type terminals. Other boxes I worked with had screw type plug-in that made it sometimes hard to get the wire in. You could also misplace the push-in connectors. Replaced all the old speaker wire with new Monster XP (XPMS). The box handles the power of the HK 3480 and my Cewin-Vega's never sounded better. The MSS-4 also looks great in my stereo cabinet.

Poorly designed - Not user friendly.......2006-09-01

The description empathesizes how it "protects" your amplifier but the first page in the instructions warns that your amplifier can be damaged if you fail to keep at least one button depressed. Most speaker selectors are designed so a load is placed on the amplifier when all buttons are out.
It also has a fifth button that says "press before using multiple speaker pairs". It's not clear when to use this nor is it clear what it does.
I can just see me trying to explain the "operating instructions" to the wife and kids.

Dissapointing. The sping-loaded connectors at the back of the selector are not particularly strong, so thick or rigid cables under tension (e.g. twisted at odd angles) easily slip out. The depth of the connectors is also not great, so wires cannot be inserted very far to compensate for the lack of traction. Connections might be better using Monster Cables' own Angled Gold Pin connectors, but I didn't try those.
