Good overall.......2007-05-25

This filter works very well. Fits my notebook (Dell D620) perfectly (I heard earlier ones didn't). I have used another one before and this one seem to be better in blocking side view. This one also comes with more tabs, including 2 long tabs for the sides, which seem to work well. One issue is that, as mentioned by another reviewer, it attracts dust. Not a show stopper though.

Filter works as described, however, the small clear plastic mounting tabs -- which attach by adhesive around the perimeter of the laptop screen -- could be 'better'. Specifically, instructions should indicate that screen attachment areas "... should be cleaned with alcohol (etc) ..." in order to improve bonding, and it would be 'less-distracting' if the tabs were matte-finish rather than being 'glossy'.

The 3M Privacy filter is something everyone who works on things that are better not seen by others around you. Are you tired of getting people walking up to you and asking "What is that you are working on?" Or "Hey, I saw that video." Or, "Should you be working on that at work?"

Well, then this filter basically filters them out. It stops people who are not directly in front of the screen from seeing it. Funny... A few years ago everyone was trying to make screens that had a wider viewing area... Anyway, if you move to one side or the other, the screen looks black.
I've tried other brands including the Viewguard, and the 3M is a lot better.
Be sure to buy the correct size for your screen. You do not want to have to cut them down yourself.

This really works. I use it at work and no one can tell what I am doing if they look on my screen. If you need one get one it does keep your privacy.

I had used a 3M Privacy Screen before so I knew what to expect. No complaints. My laptop screen works just as well as my one did.
