Overrated.......2007-05-16

I bought two units in May 2007 based on its superb review. I've received the unit last week and put them together last night. I was somewhat disappointed after putting them together. It's hard for me how this can be so much praised. I can't help thinking that some comments were left by manufacturers. I saw a similar unit on sale in Linen'n'Things for $30 this weekend, I wish I purchased that one instead. It's of slightly inferior build but cost a lot less (it cost me $133 for both units shipped.)

First, this only comes with one page of extremely simplified manual. I do not know how experienced people here are to put them together in 5 minutes. I spent 30 minutes to put together the first one, and still not satisfied because it is still not leveled in each tray. At first, the manual does not spell out that the tray support is directional. I finally figured out that it has to be clamped in the right direction. Second, only indication where to put in the tray support are the lines at the upright metal bar. I've made a lot of efforts, but still couldn't get each tray completely leveled. I can't push the tray down too hard because it will force the tray support down too. At the end, I have to accept that at some trays, one side is higher than the other side.

One of the review mentioned that he extended the total height of the shelf. That is why I bought two, hoping I can somehow extend it a little. But that's not possible unless I made modification to the unit. It is only made for 48" height, and there is no way to extend it. It looks incredibly short in the 9' basement.

Also, like another reviewer indicates, you can only put in 6 levels if you want to put in only DVDs. I tried to do 5 levels of DVD and 2 levels of CDs and that's not good either. Top shelf will be too short to be supported on both sides, and will look funny with dividers.

It's not a bad product. I just don't feel it's worth the high-mark review.

Great Storage Item!.......2007-04-02

I bought this product on the basis of other reviews I have seen for it and I must say, IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! For the price you pay, you get a really nice, well-made item. It took me about ten minutes to put together, and the amount of space it had holds all of my CDs, VHS tapes, and DVDs.

A fantastic product for the money!

It's exactly what I needed... it holds the most dvds while still being a small enough size that it doesn't overwhelm everything else in the room. Very easy to put together. The only downside to me is that if you don't intend to keep cds on it, you have one unusable shelf, or one extra shelf. The way it goes together, you can't make all 8 shelves hold dvds... it's just slightly not tall enough to do that. But if you intend to keep cds on it as well, it could be perfect for you!

Bought one of these a year ago. I've run out of space,
so I'm placing an order for another. Easy to put together.
Adjusts to cd height, or boxsets, or anything. Very sturdy,
but recommend installing the tip-over straps. They're easy
to install also. BUY one TODAY !

Great shelving for CDs and DVDs. Hold several hundereds of either. Shelves are adjustable in hight. I liked this and the 5 shelve unit so much that I have purchased one each. Great storage in a small area. Great for small houses and apartments.
