Customer Reviews:
Great Gaming Headset.......2007-06-13
After my old crappy headset broke, I decided I would try to get a new one. After searching for quite a while, I saw these and just had to have them. This headset is ridicously comfertable, and after long hours of use, my ears are still left unbothered. The sound quality is very nice, now in counterstrike It's much easier to hear the enemy coming. The only problem I have had with this headset, is that the sound will leak onto my microphone, but I have had very minimal complaints about that so far.
After 10 headsets, somthing ill buy again.......2007-03-20
Ive gone through every manufacturer, from Plantronics to Sennheiser, and I will say that I would buy these headsets again. My only problem is that they are a little bulky, but thats the only problem. The wire is made out of some sort of nylon mesh (i think) so it dosn't wrap around and get tangled which is good. The headsets are of great quality and are very robust. Very Good sound quality and the headsets are comfortable as well. Great buy, and a good price compared to other headsets.
Great Headset but Issues with Teamspeak.......2007-03-18
These sound great, feel great, and are a slight step up from the non-V2 Steelsounds and the Senn 165's I have owed previously. The problem I have with them is that my game sounds somehow leak through the mic and drives the other people on Teamspeak crazy. This happens even with the game volume fairly low and the mic extended away from the cups as far as possible. From what I've been reading on some boards this is a problem many others are experiencing.
Great gaming headset at a great price........2007-03-17
I have gone through 5 headsets in the last month to find one that would unleash my X-Fi Fatal1ty Extreme Gamer card. The SteelSound 5H V2 is one of the best. They are lightweight, have great sound and are extremely comfortable to wear for long periods of gaming. The retractable mic is a great touch and the mic sound is outstanding (according to my teamspeak buddies).
Other nice features: the set breaks apart into three pieces for easy travel, the main cord is short (for use with a dvd/mp3 player) but has a securely attached extension to run to your pc.
These headphones really give "positional" sounds in the games, and the bass response is excellent. They definitely give you an advantage when playing FPS games.
I have been able to compare this headset to the following, and here is how I would rank them:
1. Medusa Pro Gamer 5.1
2. SteelSound 5H V2 (a VERY close second)
3. Sennheiser PC150
4. IceMat Siberia
5. Saitek GH30 Vibration
Check out my reviews on the other sets for the details. The Medusa Pro Gamer only beats the SteelSound 5H because of the true 5.1 capability. The actual sound quality of the SteelSound 5H is almost better overall.
Pros:
- Nice quality sound with good bass effects
- Light and comfortable
- In line audio and mic controls
- High quality mic with good sound
- Breaks apart into three pieces for travel
- Short main cord (for dvd/mp3 use) with long extension for PC
Cons:
- Not 5.1
Good Stuff.......2007-03-10
Seems sturdy. The mic quality is much improved from my previous mic. The sound quality is good. I've had an issue or 2 with the mic switch, but I don't mess with it and it's fine. Comfortable. Can't say that I have any real complaints yet.
