Customer Reviews:
Olympus P-10 Printer.......2007-05-31
This is my first at home dedicated printer. I have an Olympus E-500 camera that coupled nicely with the printer. I dislike using my inkjet printer due to he cost per print so generally it is a trip to a one hour photo to get prints. I think the best way to discribe the printer is to look at it's flexibility by giving you an example.
A very good friend of mine was in the process of moving into a new Condo and wanted to take pictures to work. I carried over my camera and printer to the new place. I think the camera weighs more but no big deal either way. I proceeded to take about 10 pics for her of the then vacant condo. Went to the printer set up on the kitchen counter and printed the pictures. Total time -- less than 1 hour. This beats running the the local 1 hour processing by a long way. You have to keep in mind that there are a lot of variables in the enteire process starting with the photographer eye.
The printer generated good clean prints. I have been a Nikon user but love the new printer - camera combination. The only issue I have is adjusting my picture taking to how the combination crops pictures (e.g 4:3 to 3:2). All in all I am very satisfied.
Beautiful Photos.......2007-01-26
The printer is so easy to use I printed pictures minutes after I set it up. The prints are wonderful continuos tone pictures, just like photos from any photo store.
I am really enjoying taking digital pictures again.
The Little-Big Printer! .......2006-05-21
Received printer as a gift and am I ever so Glad!! This little printer has a big heart. The photo qualities are about 90% compared to larger/laser printers. The slighest grain noticable... HOWEVER... This printer is outstanding... It is light, it is portable to take to picinics, family gatherings, car-trip vacations (perfect for printing photo-postcards!!!)
I would highly recommend this printer to the person who takes photos all the time!!
Good printer, but relatively high costs of consumables.......2006-04-01
I am happy with the quality of the pictures, but found that the cost of the Print Packs are high. Compared to Epson and Canon photo printers, the Olympus print packs cost a lot more.
I would characterize the quality of the prints as being very good, but not quite photo lab quality.
Althought the printer is small, I wouldn't say that it is conveniently portable. It only runs on AC (cannot run on batteries). Cannot read memory cards, except from a camera (through PictBridge) Overall, I like the printer, but wish that Olympus could keep the price of the consumables down.
Olympus P-10: Avoid it if you care about color.......2005-12-14
I bought a P-10 from a non-Amazon online seller. I was sold by the glowing reviews, including those on Amazon and in Consumer Reports. I was willing to put up with the very high per print cost for great color and for the durable coating offered by the dye-sub technology.
The first picture I printed was a landscape with an eggshell blue sky that was rendered in a deep violent turquoise. Nothing I could do on my PC fixed this, and the only advice I could get from Olympus customer service was to send the printer back (at my own expense). Some investigation revealed that other users shared these experiences.
Subsequently I went to Best Buy and tried out about a dozen photo printers by Cannon, Epson, HP, and Sony. Compared to those, the Olympus P-10 was far and away the least faithful in its color reproduction.
I finally settled on the Cannon IP6600D. The colors are beautiful, if a hair anemic, and the per print price is on the low end of photo printers. I would give it four or five stars. Then I took the P-10 to Goodwill and left it there.
