Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Very frustrating to setup and jammed immediately.......2007-05-13

It is not possible to get the label software to run without crashing under Windows XP SP2; wasted several hours trying to make it work. Downloaded the updates from Casio's website but the application still would not start or would start and immediately crash. Had to install Windows 2000 under VMWare and finally I could get the software would run. However I was not able to print to the device (even though it had installed correctly).

To make matters worse, even in manual mode the cartridge ink ribbon jammed on the first try. Tried a different cartridge and it also jammed. Returned it for another and exactly the same issue occurred. This product is terrible! I finally gave up and purchased Brother PT-1950 Desktop 5-Line PC-Ready Labeler instead.

1 out of 5 stars This Thing Is A Piece of Junk.......2007-02-23

Ribbon jammed and tore the second time I used it. They've sealed the cartridge so you can't patch it. Save your money!

4 out of 5 stars Labeling made easy.......2006-11-03

This gives my CDs a prefessional look and I like the ease with which I can made professional labels. I was disappointed that it would not work with Windows XP so I have to use it "free standing."

2 out of 5 stars Product Development too Rushed.......2006-08-17

I have owned this unit for a year and a half.

As a Label Maker (3 stars):
While ALL label printers are made to consume as much tape as possible, this one does allow you to adjust the length of the tape so that you don't print 6 inches of tape to print out the word CAT for example. The computer interface lets you construct the label format, font, letter size on your PC and see what you are about to print. This PC application is good, BUT, half the time, the unit cannot recongize that you actually have a label cartridge inserted into the print slot, and tells you over and over that there is no print cartridge in the machine, when indeed there is....Very Frustrating. Right now I have a bunch of un-usable cartridges in my PC drawer...

As a CD/DVD Labeller (1 star):
This unit will print logos on Discs, but you must know how to load your logo via a small 23 x 23 pixel black and white image into the print session. The image print quality is not all that large or good, but the straight text printing is pretty good on CD's DVD's once you get past the first disk. The CD/DVD labeller requires an adapter unit and a separate tape, and there is a compartment provided for this thankfully. BUT the label tape generally is not in good shape when you first put it in, so your first DVD/CD label will be spotty at best, until the unit gets to good tape. This means that every other CD/DVD you print on will have some splotchy letters on them, unless you can save all your DVD's/CD's and label them all in one session, wherein only the first disc will have a splotchy printout.

Overall the PC print interface for discs is very confusing, and tries so hard to be icon driven, that it cannot convey to the user what must be done to achieve the desired disc format. Complexity through Over-Simplicity. I have learned to just settle for whatever the unit prints on my discs...at least I have them labelled.

Finally, the standard USB high speed cable is too short. So your already crowded PC desk has ANOTHER resident to contend with modem, wireless router, printer, speakers, monitor and your favorite picture of Elvis. This is just too large a unit to have sitting within 3 ft of your computer at all times: unless you plan on labelling all the cartridges you buy with labels indicating what the cartridge is to be used for.

My honest advice. If you want a label maker, go get one. If you want a CD/DVD labeller, go get one.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT PRINTER.......2006-04-25

I purchased this product about a year ago and I found it to do more than I expected, though I wish it printed the cds all the way round.Nevertheless it can function both as a thermal printer to cds and tape for labelling it an excellent product
also USB friendly
