Amazon.com product Description
Note: The Canon i560 is no longer being manufactured. You may want to consider purchasing the newer Canon Pixma iP3000 instead.
The Canon i560 Desktop Photo Printer delivers fast, professional-level performance for the home--or home office. Canon's specially developed software package includes Easy PhotoPrint and Easy WebPrint programs designed to take home printing to a higher level. Operating as a toolbar in Microsoft IE, Webprint automatically smoothes and aligned pages, resulting in both text and background images reproducing cleanly. PhotoPrint boosts color saturation while keep tones realistic and accurate; the results are grain-free textures and exceptionally vivid colors.

<font size=-1><b> This printer can connect directly to select digital cameras. Learn more about PictBridge.</b></font></td></tr></table> If you're looking for a printer to use with your digital camera, you'll be glad to see the i560 is PictBridge compatible. This allows you to connect any PictBridge camera or camcorder directly to the convenient front-panel port and product instant prints. A borderless 4-by-6-inch image is produced in less than a minute, while enlargements up to 8.5 by 11 inches are available with the touch of a single button.
Your letters and text documents will also look their best, thanks to rich pigment-based inks that produce a sharp black color. The i560 features a symmetrical print head design with 1,600 nozzles that virtually eliminates color variance and banding problems frequently found with other high-speed, bidirectional printers. Speeds up to 22 pages per minute make this printer perfectly at home for small businesses or busy families.
The i560 printer features the economical Canon Think Tank System, combining four individual ink tanks with intelligent management practices that equal more efficient ink usage and lower printing costs. Four tanks are included with the printer; you'll need to provide the power cables yourself. Canon supplies a one-year warranty with Instant Exchange service.
Customer Reviews:
Starts out good, but then..........2007-04-20
This is basically a very nice printer. It has worked easily with several Windows and Mac computers that have passed through my hands. Print quality is good for both text and photos in spite of it not being a "photo" printer. It's also fairly economical with ink. Paper handling is very good. I've had a few misfeeds with envelopes but not many, and almost no problems with sheets of various weights.
It has one major problem that makes me hesitant to get another Canon. The print head goes bad after a year or so. When bad it prints off color streaks and will not clean or align. Cleaning and deep cleaning has no effect.
The saving grace is that the head is replaceable ($49 w/ shipping). I'm on my second print head & and debating whether to get a third one or a new printer. I used a mix of third party inks and Canon branded on the first head, but only Canon inks on the second. Both heads started failing after about the same amount of use so I can't attribute the problem to the ink brand.
It works very well as long as it works, but get used to the idea of replacing the print head every couple of years. I've had the same problem with an i550 (on my wife's computer) that I still own, so I'm suspicious of more recent Canon printers. On the other hand, printers that put the print head on the ink cartridge (HP) have more expensive cartridges. It's all a matter of tradeoffs and preferences.
Too bad it was discontinued.......2007-04-05
No 'chip' cartridges to deal with. Too bad the print head isn't a normal printer replacement part. It has to ordered from service, but you can install it yourself.
Decent printer.......2007-01-10
Does a good job for the price. Separate cartridges for each color, which makes it affordable. The cartridges are reasonably priced also.
Good printer.......2006-11-07
Well I have had it now for 2 years its a good black and white printer and yes a good color printer for now color photos. I would not recommend this printer for photos and it can become expensive if you buy the cannon catridges for the $120 I paid should have been a bit cheaper and you can get the catridges on a auction site for a ton cheaper I got 5 black and white for $13 so I still use it for general printing clear printing but use it often so not to clog the heads now I would reccomend taking a look out there see if the technology has gotten better and cheaper if you get a deal on it go for it if not keep looking for now.
18 months later..........2006-01-18
Bought the Canon i560 in the summer of 2004. was sold on the individually replacable cartridges, after having spent/wasted so much $$$ on the all-in-one cartridges of my previous printer. HOWEVER, I have found (and I guess I do alot of printing, both colour and b/w) that I need to change the cartridges ALOT.
Lately I've noticed the print quality has decreased, esp. with the black cartridge. I just recently replaced the black cartridge and print quality has not improved. I've cleaned the heads several times now but with no improvement. Re-aligning the heads does not help either.
Personally I want to chuck the thing out the window. My husband says that's what you get when you buy a cheap printer, but I didn't recall it being that cheap when we bought it.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? if so, do you know the fix??
