HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).

Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). Fantastic television.......2007-04-10

I have had the Bravia since the Fall of 2006. I have never seen a better picture, even on a plasma. They had all of the flat panels lined up side by side and the screen turned at a 45 degree angle. This way I could stand at the end of the aisle and could see the picture on a dozen TVs at the same time. The Bravia was head and shoulders above all others. It's light, has a small footprint, and is incredibly easy to set up. All of my guests have commented about the picture quality, and my brother is set to go buy a Bravia for himself. You won't be disappointed!

Poor Sony Customer Service .......2007-01-23

I purchased this TV in Sept'06. The TV worked great. Unfortunately, there was a clicking noise from the TV. So, I called Sony and they asked to me to contact "Advanced Electronics" (in San Diego), one of their authorized service centers. The "Advanced Electronics" probably has the most incompetent technicians in the planet. Added to their incompetence is their extremely rude customer service. They had my TV for over 6 weeks, and when they finally returned the TV, the problem still persisted. I called them again and they sent someone home to fix the problem. The guy did something and left, but the results were the same. So, I called them again. They picked up the TV two weeks back and they still haven't figured out the problem. My repeated phone calls were answered with the same *irritating* response: "Sir, we are still working on your TV".

I've called Sony a zillion times in-between and they've not been of any help. Sony's customer service has deteriorated tremendously over the years.

About the TV itself, the picture quality of the TV is very good. It also looks sleek. Hope I did not have to deal with Sony customer service and the bozos from Advanced Electronics.

This television is great. The picture is brilliant and the color is
vibrant. It fits perfectly in the space we have for a television.
It is thin and light. Ordering the product through Amazon saved us
several hundred dollars as compared to the lowest cost retailer on sale.

Several people have mentioned a problem with getting a blank screen when switching from standard definition to high definition, and having to turn the TV off and on again to regain a picture. We had the same problem. After several calls to Sony technicians (and working with Comcast), I learned that this is due to a software incompatibility between certain Motorola cable boxes (specifically the 3400 series). Sony arranged for a local authorized technician to come to my house to replace the BU board. It took about an hour. All work was covered by the warranty. The TV works perfectly now.

The Sony Bravia KDL40S2000 40" LCD TV delivers a clear,near real image. The set-up was quick and the instructions were easy to read and understand. All cable and set-up accessories were simple to install and operate. Sony has certainly solidified their product image with this electronic HDTV.
