Not what it seems.......2007-03-26

I was sure I was getting a top notch product because Canon is one of my favorite dealers for photography, but every shortcut that could be taken, they took with this product. I was not looking for "lab quality prints" like other reviews I read got, but I was looking to not have a pixelated photograph to give customers, and I was using a 10.1 megapixel camera.

I have been in the business for a while and with other portable printers such as the older HP Photosmart 130, the better quality of the image, the better the photograph. Even when I printed from my 2 megapixel camera on the HP, the photos were not pixelated and more true to the color of the subject. And the HP was maybe $10.00 more (that was 5 years ago).

This is a good printer for a child who is discovering photography (its still cheaper than film) or someone who wants pictures printed every now and then, but to use for professional or even personal use for at least partial accuracy of tone and color, I don't recommend it.

Another fascinating fact is because of the type of printer (not dot ink) the photograph makes several passes for each color. When the ink says it only does 108 prints...that's all you get. I like that aspect, but I also like to squeeze every bit of ink out that I can...

Great print quality.......2007-02-25

Great print quality,and speed. Very good software bundle but wont work on windows 98/ME.And there isnt a version that will work. If you think being able to crop and rotate from the little display on the 730 is worth an extra 50.00 think again ,it's a 2.5" display,and its hard to see what the end result will be,so save the 50 and get this one. The card reader wont read compact flash from a kodak camera,but works great with my cannon. Easy to load paper tray and print cartrige.

Not great.......2007-02-16

After many reviews, I decided to try my first dye-sublimation printer. I was a bit disappointed. My only complaints are about the quality and size of the paper. The size is smaller than a regular 4x6 but I've read this before so I already expected it. Even knowing this, I couldn't get over the size once I personally saw it and compared it with the standard Canon 4x6 glossy plus. The quality is more of a disappointment. The details are not as good as the Epson PictureMate Deluxe that I bought for my parents. I noticed this in the shadows. The hair on my son showed up as a block of black ink. The same photo showed some strands details on the Epson. Overall, I will still keep it since it is the smallest printer I've ever seen and it is fast as advertised. If size is not an issue, I'd recommend the Epson PictureMate Deluxe.

I received this printer as a gift and I love it. It prints beautifully! It is compact and I love that I can print pictures using anyone's memory card. It's a great way to share images. It beats waiting for a copy you may never get. I also love that I can print greeting cards! I highly recommend this printer! A+!
