Color resolution is as high as 9,600 x 2,400 dpi, with black resolution up to 600 x 600 dpi. Print speeds range up to 29 ppm for monochrome and 19 ppm in color; a borderless 4-by-6-inch photo takes as little as 51 seconds. With the iP4200's automatic two-sided printing, you can easily produce glossy brochures and invitations right from your desktop. Improved ink technology supplies rich black text that offers exceptional resistance to smudges--it even holds up to highlighter pens. (All reported speeds are maximums. Actual speeds will vary.)

With its straightforward USB port, connecting the printer with your computer is a snap; the iP4200 is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh operating systems and includes software tools like Easy-PhotoPrint (Windows/Mac), Easy WebPrint (Windows), and PhotoRecord (Windows). A direct print port allows you to print directly from a PictBridge-compatible digital camera or DV camcorder, with or without your computer. The printer is backed with a one-year limited warranty covering parts and labor.

Unreliable.......2007-06-13

Every 2nd or 3rd print this printer tells me I am out of black in ink when I am not. I wonder if this has something to do with the chips on the cartridges? The chips that make replacing ink on this printer more expensive than buying another printer.

Horrible Printer.......2007-06-02

There is a reason this printer is so cheap. it's unreliable. paper gets stuck and you can pull it out, but the driver still registers it as being stuck, so you have to go through five or six procedures (30 minutes) to fix it. Cartridges are really expensive and they designed the cartridge so you can't get imitation. They have found a way around that, but I will never buy a canon printer. This one was free with my mac, but it has still more hassle than it is worth.

I absolutely love this printer! Although it prints a little slower than my old HP for word documents, it is perfectly fine. The picture quality is awesome when printing out photos. The black ink runs out a bit fast, but it comes in single cartridges (like epson), so that's awesome!

This is my 3rd Canon printer. the pictures are outstanding. Too bad the inks are so expensive

I love this printer. The quality of the documents is outstanding and the quality of the photos is equal to a photo lab. While it is not the fastest printer I've ever seen it is fine ... especially for the price! I have purchased a second so I have one at home and one in the office. Delivery was fast and the dealer stood by his product when my original printer had a damaged part initially.
