3 out of 5 stars Wide Format Printers.......2007-01-20

It's good, but NOISY!!! Clak, clak, clak. It can't compare to the HP Color Inkjet Printer CP1700.

3 out of 5 stars great when it's working..........2006-10-26

When our 2800 is working it's fantastic. We usually print 13x19 (building plans/CAD drawings reduced for easier viewing) and learned early on that thick paper is a must to prevent paper jams (I think that we use 40# paper). However in the last couple of years since we bought the first one we've had it replaced 4 times...they just don't last, our most recent one gave up after 4 months...too bad the it only had a 3 month warranty.

5 out of 5 stars Works Great!.......2006-09-05

I have had my HP 2800 for about 8 months now and I have never had a problem. I print very high volumes for my home business and it has never failed. It handles a huge range of paper sizes, I mostly print 13 X 19, 11 X 17 and it work great. The software that comes with it tells me my ink usage perfectly, and if I let the ink run out, it will stop the print, let me replace the cartridge, and continue printing the image, that is a great asset.
The best benefit is the very low cost per page, you can print color newsletters, brochures etc., in volume without spending a fortune. A huge benefit over the very expensive color lasers. See HP web site for a cost comparison of printing costs, a great help in deciding what printer to buy. I run 5 printers for my home business all are HP printers, very reliable.

4 out of 5 stars I must be lucky..........2006-08-15

Based on most of the other reviews I guess I won the lottery. Mine works fine, never had a jammed page (and I print 13 x 19 often) and I'm not seeing the ink hogging habits others have reported. I print from an XP machine and a MacBook Pro. Initially, the Mac did not print properly, then the Mac Intel drivers came out and now the Mac prints fine.

The only mystery to me is memory. I added a bunch to increase max page size/complexity, but I can't say that I've seen any improvement.

2 out of 5 stars Call a priest.......2006-07-19

It is possesed. We have named ours Christine. We have had nothing but problems with this printer and the oversize paper feed tray. It is totally inconsistent and erratic in terms of when the paper feed jams and it needs constant babysitting. It chooses to jam at will and nobody can figure out the rationale for its behavior. We have sent the printer back twice and gotten refurbished ones, to no avail. I would never recommend this printer to anyone who needed to print anything important or in a timely manner. A terrible choice for a business printer, in my opinion, just because it is unreliable. It's good points are the color quality and image quality- they are pretty good. We haven't had the ink hog problem.
