To be honest, we looked twice at the price, certain the folks at Amazon had made a mistake. But sure enough, they're right--and so is the price. Porter-Cable makes some of the best pneumatic tools in the industry, and these nailers are two prime examples. The 16-gauge is sturdy, compact, lighter and quieter than you'd expect with a grip even smaller hands can get around. Great balance, easy depth-of-drive adjustment, and a pleasure to use. Similarly, the 18-gauge is light but rugged, comfortable and maneuverable, even in awkward places or after long runs. Some other features we like: a special hardened driver blade, a sequential fire trigger, a visual reload indicator, a safety located behind the driver guide for driving brads in tight spaces and an easy-to-adjust depth guide. Both guns have directional exhausts, too. The pancake-style compressor has a six-gallon tank and easily runs both guns at the same time. It's light, portable and doesn't want much from you in terms of maintenance--it's oil-free and Teflon-coated. Some other reasons to like it: a high-flow regulator, an easy-to-read air pressure gauge, automatic thermal overload protection, an industrial-style quick-connect body in the air outlet, and a long-life motor with replaceable brushes. I've owned this set for about 6 months and have used the nailers regularly. I even added the framing nailer to the set all have performed flawlessly to this point. Great deal for the money.

I am pretty impressed with the quality of these three items. I did some serious comparing with other nailer/compressor kits before buying this one and very glad I went with Porter Cable. I would reccommend these items to anyone for the price and quality.

Awesome combo.......2006-12-26

I love this. It was my first venture into pneumatics, I was impressed. Using the finish nailer, I hung several interior doors in 15 minutes each, not a single mark on the frame. I put trim up in three rooms. I spent more time at the saw than in the rooms.
The compressor is a little loud, but that is expected, wear hearing protection when you will be with the compressor indoors (or when using most of the attachments). The loudness of the compressor makes me think it would not stand up to commercial applications, I am a casual user.

I have only used the brad nailer once to attach the back to a cabinet, it was incredably smooth, precise and easy.

I would buy it again.

Watch Out, Not All are Great!.......2006-12-21

Purchased my compressor combo Sept 2006. Compressor failed after five times of use. Check valve failed and compressor would not hold air but would compress air. Air would escape tank through the faulty check valve. Took unit to Porter Cable authorized warranty service facility Nov 2, 2006. Picked compressor up today Dec 20, 2006. Repair facility stated compressor failed due to over usage. I was asked to pay the repair bill. Had to contact Porter Cable to get the warranty service facility to release the compressor to me without paying the repair bill. The compressor was used five times before it failed, first use was to inflate a mower tire, second use was to blow out some dust in an electric hand saw, third and fourth uses were to attach window and door moulding on three windows and two doors, and lastly the unit was used to spray paint a gas tank. Porter Cable warranty information states abuse or improper use is considered if compressor pumps air more than 50% during a one hour period. My compressors most continuous use was the fifteen minutes of required break-in before the first use. Before purchasing this unit consider where you may have to take the unit for warranty service, how long you can be without the unit during warranty service and whether you can prove you did not abuse the unit.

I won't rehash all the great things that have been said already. Let me just say that I have been using this kit for crown and baseboard molding's and I'm extremely happy with it. The compressor is perfectly suited for these guns and its small size make very easy to move it around as you do your work. Excellent buy IMO.
