The PIXMA Pro9000's ChromaLife100 system combines the benefits of dye-based ink, Canon photo paper and FINE print head technology to produce long-lasting, beautiful prints. With an 8-color dye ink system, the Pro9000 produces a wide color gamut to achieve vivid coloration and high glossiness.

Easy-PhotoPrint Pro Software
The PIXMA Pro9000 can be seamlessly integrated into a computer workflow with Canon's Easy-PhotoPrint Pro software plug-in. Easy-PhotoPrint Pro augments other post-production software, including Canon's Digital Photo Professional (DPP version 2.1) and Adobe Photoshop CS/CS2. Using customized layout options, photographers can produce contact prints, prints with shooting information and even pattern prints of a single image reproduced with a variety of color balance, brightness and contrast settings. For even more fine-tuning of color and contrast, photographers can choose from three color adjustment features that can be saved with personal settings: Enable ICC Profile, Photo Color and Linear Tone. Easy-PhotoPrint Pro also includes grayscale printing adjustments and monochrome printing adjustments for even richer gradation.

FINE Print Head Technology
The PIXMA Pro9000 features Canon's FINE technology, producing a maximum resolution of 4800 x 2400 dpi. It's high-precision, 6,144 nozzle print head is designed to provide 2-picoliter ink droplets in one pass. Capable of plotting thousands of ink droplets each second, the high-density placement of ink produces sharp details and minimal graininess with incredible precision. With Canon-engineered print head technology, photographers benefit from high speed and quality.

Wide Paper Selection
With conventional top-loading and front-loading features, the PIXMA Pro9000 can accommodate large, professional paper sizes, up to 13"x 19." Paper up to 1.2mm thick can be fed through the frontloader, opening up a world of options for print media. Just What I Needed.......2007-06-12

Having used the HP 9650 for years, and the previous model before that, I still need the ability to print 11X17 paper. The PIXMA PRO 9000 installed easily, and runs seamlessly. The only issue I have with the product is the default paper and quality is set to Photo and it seems difficult to change it to a lower setting permanently. It wants to do photos, it is made to do photo quality, and it does it well.

This is an amazing printer!

For years, I've gone with HP printers. I wanted a wide format printer, but was not at all impressed with the HP wide format printer that I got a year or so back. I had narrowed my choice down to the Canon Pixma Pro9000 or the Epson Stylus Photo R1800. I really wanted the ability to both print directly on CDs/DVDs and produce professional quality photographs. The Epson R1800 did both. The Canon Pro9000, though, did not have the CD/DVD printing capability. However, I was concerned about the reports of Epson's ink guzzling and print head clogging. I actually bought an Epson inkjet printer some years back and returned it because of the huge ink consumption.

I ultimately decided on the Canon printer, and could not be happier. The prints are incredible. I'd say that they are as good if not better than professional prints. The printer requires eight different ink cartridges, two of which are photo cartridges. I've used up the photo cartridges much faster than the others, but would certainly not describe the printer as ink guzzling.

After I got the printer, I discovered, much to my delight, that the Canon Pro9000 actually has the capability to print on CDs/DVDs. However, that feature is turned off on the US printers, supposedly because of some agreement between Canon and Epson. I was able to locate and purchase the "E" tray that comes with the Canon Pro9000 printers sold in Europe. In addition, I found both instructions on how to convert the US Canon printer to a European Canon printer so that it can print on CDs/DVDs, and software that could be downloaded to accomplish all of this. I can now produce professional looking CDs/DVDs and photographs.

Bottom line, I could not be happier!

Wow! I have owned both HP and Epson printers for my digital pictures. Those printers do not compare to this BIG DAWG! yes, it's big takes a lot of space. I Love this printer, it works great, either directly from my canon rebel xti or from the computer running vista. Small or big prints this is a printer for the serious hobby photographer or the professional just getting out. Sets up easy. I have a closet of printers anyone interested, good price. haha. Thanks Amazon for a great price. No one could touch it!
