The MP960 can print sharp, detailed prints up to 9600 x 2400 color dpi. Users also have the flexibility of printing on thicker fine art photo rag paper. The FINE technology print head makes quick work of photos and text with a next-generation 3,584-nozzle print head that ejects precise droplets as small as one picoliter. The advanced seven-color ink system incorporates six dye-based inks, including photo cyan and photo magenta colors perfect for life-like photos, as well as a pigment-based black ink that produces laser-quality text for business documents. You can produce borderless 4 x 6-inch photo lab quality prints in approximately 35 seconds.

The MP960 can copy up to 30ppm in black and 22ppm in color and has a built-in duplexer, producing double-sided documents and photos. As a photo or document scanner, the high resolution maximum 4800 dpi color CCD scanning element with vibrant 48-bit color depth is designed for scanning up to eight slides, twelve negatives, and film using the built in adapter.

Sophisticated interface
The bright flip-out 3.5-inch TFT screen allows users to preview images before printing and photo editing. It also has a new Easy-Scroll Wheel interface that includes editing, copying, printing, and scanning options.

Advanced copy technology
The MP960 employs advanced copy technology to give you precise reproductions of original images and documents. Canon's Dual Color Gamut Processing Technology improves color accuracy by independently controlling brightness, hue, and other elements to make sure there are minimal differences between the original and the copy.

Wired or wireless
When used with a supported Canon digital SLR, the MP960 supports the user-friendly Canon-to-Canon Direct Advantage. Connected via the PictBridge port, the Canon-to-Canon connection allows users to brighten faces, print shooting information on a print, or even print a contact sheet with up to 35 images all directly from the camera controls without a PC. The Canon-to-Canon workflow allows you to take advantage of added convenience and the power to produce outstanding image quality directly from the camera to the printer without the need for a PC.

YES! You can scan your document and use the scroll wheel to zoom in on parts of the page. WoW!

I am impressed by how quickly it whips out text as well as photographic images.

I am getting married and photocopied a photo of a cake from a magazine. The printer actually printed a picture with more contrast and brighter colors than the original. I actually prefer the Canon color copy to the original from Martha Stewart.

I am giving this printer four stars only because I've only had it for one week and I haven't tested all of its functions. I think you have to have something for a while and let it prove itself before it earns top marks.

One thing - IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THIS PRINTER IN PERSON, GO LOOK AT A FLOOR MODEL BEFORE ORDERING. IT'S A BIG BOY! It's totally worth a few extra centimeters of space, but it's something to consider if you are land-locked in your space.

Amazon shipped this to us in record time! It was packaged very well & we had fun finding all the little taped areas for making it safe to ship.

We are running Vista now & had no trouble at all as a PnP device. We followed the directions for proper setup & worked perfectly the first time we used it.

It was fun finding the proper places for each of the ink cartridges. I think this will make it very efficient in using it since I use mainly black ink.

The overall design of it is superb with the clean design & ease of use with all the funcitons. I like the choice of having front loading paper or back loading. This way I can keep 2 different kinds ready to use & make my choice each time I'm ready to print or just leave it on one all the time.

The scanner works wonderfully, I scanned all our household pictures to save on a disk. That way when we're having to leave the house because of hurricane warnings, all I have to worry about now is to make sure that booklet of disks are safe with me for travelling instead of trying to take all the pictures off the walls to pack! They scan nice & crisp then when I print them on good photo paper with the high resolution, they look like a professional did them.

I do crafting so I scan pictures & I do the community newsletter so I print out a good copy for the printing company. It's so quiet & fast, it almost frightens me sometimes when the paper suddenly appears in front of me! There are so many things this machine does, I can't even think of all of them but it is highly recommended by us. It does what it says & we are very happy to have it.

Best printer ever owned.......2007-05-10

Canon didn't skimp one iota on quality and performance when they designed this printer. Absolutely the best printer I've ever owned, and over the years I've owned many, including color lasers. This one heads the list, and I recommend it without reservation.

Worth the investment.......2007-05-08

I chose to go for this product after extensive reviews. The objective was to get a good all-in-one printer. I compared HP, Epson and Canon printers and decided to go for Canon after reading the reviews. As noted in all other reviews, I'm very happy with the quality of photographs, normal prints. The speed is also very good. Scanning quality can be improved though. Again, direct printing, which I don't do often can be improved too. Overall, I recommend this printer to any serious hobbyist who wants quality photo printing and can afford a little extra bucks.
Pros: Quality, speed, features, ease of use, built in duplexer, film negative scanning
Cons: Scan quality, direct printing navigation, expensive

Disappointed by the quality - price ratio; the MP600's ratio is much better. Returned and went with MP600.
