Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars reliable, price is right, but possibly better products out there.......2007-06-11

I bought this for a good price about 6 months ago, but if I had to buy something today, I would get the HP 1018. They are similarly priced and have very similar features.

The main advantages of the HP1018 are:
* very quick first page response (instantaneous vs about 8 seconds or so for the 2010)
* much lower power consumption (220 watts vs 300 watts; yes the lights will dim when the Samsung revs up out of standby. I always find this disturbing. Also, the HP consumes 2 watts in standby vs 6 watts for Samsung; not such a big deal, but I saw an HP official competitor comparison brochure that said the 2010 consumed 70 watts in standby which would be huge -- but that can't be true, can it?)

The main advantages of the Samsung 2010 are:
* more pages per minute (20 vs 12)
* up to 1200x600 resolution vs 600x600.
* higher monthly duty cycle 5000 for Samsung vs 3000 for HP

Looking at this list, clearly there are some users who will benefit from Samsung's advantages. I'm just not one of them.

When I'm printing, it's usually about 3 pages at a time, little letters, memos, web pages, etc. (and less than 1000 a month). So, 20 ppm will lose to 12 every time if the first one is delayed by 8 seconds. Also, I started using computers when 300x300 was considered standard, 600x600 was if you were printing graphics. Of course, societal expectations have increased, but since I'm usually printing text, it's literally impossible to tell 600x600 from 1200x1200, and even most graphics look indistinguishable.

4 out of 5 stars Samsung ML-2010.......2007-05-15

A great value. I found it a bit noisy at times, but really fast and inexpensive. The toner saver for non-critical documents is a great way to save toner costs. It is a perfect small home office printer.

5 out of 5 stars Great.......2007-05-13

Very good service and fast! We were very happy when we got the product.

3 out of 5 stars Great laser for the price but jams.......2007-05-09

Bought this for $50 after discounts for school use. Jams ALL the time: often pulls 2 sheets from the paper tray, and when it heats up the pages start to stick together. I have to watch it very closely whenever printing anything over 10 pages, ready to fight with the bugger if it starts to jam. When it jams, things really get stuck because the internal rollers are very tight and don't move. Printing is a

Also, very noisy: it squeaks a lot and you can hear the rollers inside. Okay for light use but get a better printer if you need to print more than just a few pages now and then! I wish I had.

5 out of 5 stars great printer!.......2007-04-11

This printer hits the sweet spot for my home printing needs. I use a multifunction for color jobs, copying, and scanning, and use this one for high quality, fast, cost effective black and white printing. I love it.
