Customer Reviews:
Okay camera...there is better out there.......2007-03-23
Some of my pictures come out blurred no matter how steady I hold the camera. The steady shot seems to do nothing. The shutter speed is a lot faster than my old digital, so that I like. The pictures that don't come out blurred come out great.
Dissapointed.......2007-03-18
I'm what you call one of the loyal Sony customers and this is my third Sony digital camera. I was extremely happy with the previous two I've had, but I'm very much disappointed with this model! Sony traditionally has very great features (as with this camera), however what is unacceptable is that Flash photography with this model totally sucks -- 95% of shots with Flash appear with Red Eye (although Red Eye reduction is turned on), and WORST of all, photos appear with huge white spots (Sony comments this as dust particles in the air - I don't care what they are, I've never had huge white spots in my photos and this is simply unacceptable)!! Unfortunately, photos very often get blurry as well (somebody mentioned steady shot? doesn't work on this one)! This camera is simply not worth the money, for the similar amount you can get 7 M-pixel Sony P200 that doesn't have these issues...
another Sony dud.......2007-01-08
this is my third camera from the cybershot series (unfortunately I keep getting them as a gift) and the problems with them just gets worse and worse. I get the white spots all over my pictures, red eye in almost all low light pictures, about 80% of my pictures are blurry and people and bright colors are pretty washed out. 100% of my pictures have to be retouched and fixed on photo editing software.
The nice part about the cybershot series was that is was so compact, this one doesn't really have that good point as it is the size of most cameras out fight now at about $200.
The camera is so not worth getting at virtually any price and I would go for a nikon, fuji etc.. instead. I'm so disappointed because I looked at the reviews and they were pretty good. I didn't find the camera to perform at an even satisfactory level. Hopefully I can get rid of it and get another one soon.
Outstanding photos.......2007-01-07
This camera is very small, less than the size of a cigarette pack. It takes fantastic pictures and has a wide range of settings which permits photography under almost any circumstances. With the 2 GB memory stick, it can take over 1200 photos, or 2 hours of video, when set at 3 Megapixels. It can go as high as 7.2 megapixels. It also records sounds, and has various slide show options which are accompanied by different music. You can download other music into the camera.
I recently recorded about 5 minutes of an orchestral performance without flash, and it came through remarkably true to the scene and sound. I have had the camera only a couple of months and have already taken more than 2000 photos. I can slip it my pocket and whip it out if any scene strikes my fancy. With the high memory stick, I never have to worry about running out of memory. It comes with a battery charger which quickly restores the battery strength, the only real limitation on its use over extended periods.
There can't be a better camera for its size on the market.
HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.......2007-01-06
This camera seemed to have everything I wanted. But a Carl Zeiss lens doesn't always make for good pictures. The reviewers on all these camera sites seem to all pander to Sony (how many of them are paid reviewers??). I am a semi-professional photographer and I needed a camera to carry with me on my journeys when I don't want to carry a heavy camera bag.
This camera takes the worst pictures I have ever seen. They are noisy (lots of scratchiness), lack sharpness and the colors are totally off. The flash is ridiculously strong even at the lowest level and leaves these big flash marks in the middle of the pics. Red eye is obscene and I haven't been able to fix it with any automatic programs, they require hand painting in Photoshop (most of you wont' be able to do this). There are terrible phantom spots and people are generally washed out. I just got this camera for Christmas because I put it on my Amazon wishlist. Now I have to return it and lose money because Amazon charges for the return. First off, don't buy a camera from Amazon and second, don't buy this camera. Lesson learned.
