Returned as the description said that it also faxes but found out that the description was inaccurate. Amazon accepted the return and issued credit for the full amount.

Not made for the average consumer........2007-01-06

Pros:

Out of the box the unit works fairly well for printing, copying and scanning. The Ethernet port makes using it as a network printer a fairly simple task for the average network administrator. Since it is a laser printer you don't need to buy a lot of cartridges like with an ink-jet. This printer is ok if you keep up with the maintenance and replace the toner and drum according to specification. If you buy it, get a service contract and more toner.

Cons:

This unit requires a significant amount of maintenance. If the users don't keep up with the maintenance it will spill toner like crazy and print half-pages. There are some cryptic error messages that require you to decode them using the manual. The toner and drums are expensive and typically don't last as long as specified. I would not recommend this unit for the average small office consumer. You'd be better off with a brother or hp.

Open brand new from box. Installed toner. Tried to copy. Got "Clear Paper Jam". Checked all compartments - no paper. Can not clear error. Return to sender!

I ordered this item a few months ago for our church. I haven't had any complaints so far; it does a tremendous job of running our newsletters front to back without being babysat; a vast improvement over our previous copier.

Update: after about 9 months it's still going strong. I agree about criticisms that customer service is a little frustrating, but they resolved my issue fairly quickly. (it was nothing serious, but the error code was indecipherable)

Works Great Till it Breaks.......2006-04-11

I had one for 6 months and was quite happy. Then the cryptic error message came on and it wouldn't work. So took it back to Costco and got another. It worked great for 10 days, and then had the same cryptic message. This is non-repairable by the user. So you have to send it to Sharp for repair -- best not to buy it at all. I returned it and got a Brother 8640D - The brother actually is much faster for scanning, copying and printing. Hope it lasts.
