2 out of 5 stars spend a little bit more.......2007-02-25

For a few bucks more you can get a decent 3 in 1 from HP that will probably work better than this. I thought it was cool that instead of one multi-colored print cartridge (cyan, yellow, & magenta) it had separate cart's, but the down side is that they don't hold much ink and when you run out of one color you are done printing until you replace it (i.e. if you're out of yellow, you can't print a black text document). There are 2 things that really bother me.
1. I wanted to be able to scan a page of text and import it into a word processing program, but according to Epson's tech support, you can't do it unless you purchase additional 3rd party sofware...my old HP would scan into MS Word right out of the box.
2. The fast print/low quality mode is SO fast and SO low quality that it's basically useless and I have to print even the most minor temporary prints in higher quality (using more ink which I have to replace more often).

1 out of 5 stars Wow. Complete and utter WASTE of money........2007-01-24

I had this printer for about two months before it started flaking out on me. I got it for [...] after rebate, and it's one of the worst purchases I have ever made.

Don't get me wrong, it copies and scans wonderfully. But its primary function is to print - but it fails here.

I depend on good ink quality for shipping labels, resumes, academic papers - and ink splotches started appearing, gaps on the printout that repeated head cleaning and maintenance could not fix. So much paper was wasted in between 'nozzle cleanings' that would, at first, temporarily fix it before I would have to clean the nozzle heads again 10 pages later. And each time it warns you 'that cleaning the heads uses up ink, are you sure you want to do this?' No, but I had to. All the time.

Customer support was nonexistent, besides, I hadn't purchased a warranty - they were sure to remind me of that so they wouldn't have to lift a finger to help me after the 30 day guarantee.

The software that comes with this printer is batty - on one of its 'good days' when it worked perfectly and printed great quality, abruptly it claimed that it was low on ink and would not print another page. There was no override for this, even though I knew there was about a half of a cartridge left.

Then, after I replaced the half-empty ink cartridge with a fresh one, it prints out spatters and streaks everywhere. Stripes and gaps all over the paper. I clean the nozzle heads, which some times work. Three nozzle cleanings later, and it is saying that now the cartridge, which is brand new and 98% full, is now too low to print any more pages.

With a term paper to turn in, I reached the end of my rope. Four months after I purchased this thing, innumerable blood pressure spikes from helpless frustration, wasted paper and ink, I am throwing it out where I'm pretty sure it started - the trash pile.

I am never buying Epson again. Don't make my mistake and waste your money. Unless you want a printer for only 30 days, kind of like the disposable cameras of yore.

5 out of 5 stars Epson Stylus CX3810 All In One.......2007-01-10

Great performance for the price. Print quality is excellent. Scanning is easy and again, the quality is great. The one-touch copying is very useful. Setup and installation was quick and painless.
This is definitely not THE best MFC printer on the market, but it is more than enough for the average user and an incredible value.

4 out of 5 stars Eats ink but still working.......2007-01-10

Works pretty good ,but inks run out quickly. I still would only buy epson, its worked longer than any other printer I've had.

1 out of 5 stars Warning Complete Junk Do Not Buy This Printer.......2006-12-07

Pros- Inexpensive Price, Compact Design
Cons- The whole printer is a CON job. The ink is more than the printer.
The cartridges are small. Will not print if one is empty. Complicated ink cartridge change out procedures. Ink clogs: unrepairable. I had to send one back because of ink clogs and the second one from EPSON did the same thing before I emptied the first set of cartridges. Software conflicts: big headache for some windows XP users. Slow scanner. Few scan options. Few print options. Actual prints are not accurate according to software pre-print image i.e. dummy software. I still have my Espon CX3810 sitting on my desk, I use it for a bookend now. Do not be suckered like me. I will never buy from EPSON again. Buy a Canon.
