Customer Reviews:
Nice Picture, Terrible Life.......2007-06-06
I have one of these at work. It was new out of the box probably two months ago and already has images starting to burn in. That is just pathetic. The speakers are "OK" for integrated monitor speakers. The picture quality is very nice at it's native resolution... but I wouldn't recommend this monitor to anyone. Ever. Burn in after just a few months is totally unacceptable.
WARNING: IMAGE BURNS.......2007-02-08
I bought this monitor and about six months later images began to burn-in across the top of the screen. I'm not talking about images that burn in after you leave a program open for eight hours without a screensaver. No, this monitor gets image burns after using a program - ANY PROGRAM - for only a few minutes. They do go away...if you turn your monitor off and unplug it from the power source FOR ABOUT A WEEK! And then the burn-in images come back after about FIVE MINUTES of surfing the web! By the way, ViewSonic's "Limited Warranty" apparently does not cover image burns, so don't waste your time calling customer service. When it comes to computer monitors, better stick with tried-and-true brands: Sony, HP, etc.
Short Lifespan.......2006-12-01
I purchased 2 Viewsonic LCD monitors and both lasted about a year and a half before the left side of the screens went dark. No diagnostic queries or interactions could bring them back to normal. I contacted customer support and was told that Viewsonic would do nothing. Maybe I was stupid or naive in not getting a warranty beyond the first year, but I assumed that a good product, made with good parts, from a company that desires to satisfy its customers with a good QA/QC program to ensure that quality products are being produced, could make a product (or 2) that would last longer than a year and a half. Faulty assumption. With 2 LCD monitors having the same problem, lasting about the same length of time, and on 2 different computer systems, this strongly indicates to me a non-coincidental problem within Viewsonic. I will not buy anything from Viewsonic again. I will spend a little more, if I have to, to buy a reliable product from a reliable company.
Poor quality and poor manufacturer support.......2006-05-25
When I first got this monitor I was thrilled. It's sleek looking and the 2 inputs were nice, since I could use it for 2 machines. I started to notice there's a lot of light bleeding in on the edges... a lot more than I notice on my LG or my Dell Notebook screen. Then I was faced with a permanent green stripe down the left side. After much trouble, I finally got a replacement sent from Viewsonic.
The replacement is almost as bad. I've got all sorts of image "burning" (where it looks like my last screen is embossed onto the background). I'm now going to have to go through the whole hassle of trying to get this replaced again, as it makes the picture quality terrible.
so far, 2/2 have been terrible, and the manufacturer support hasn't been very good, they forgot to send my last replacement for a couple weeks (said it'd bee 3-5 business days).
Don't buy this model, and carefully consider the entire manufacturers line...
Well worth the price!.......2006-05-11
ViewSonic has not let me down yet! Their monitors last forever and they're top quality - hence the price. You will not get a better value for your dollar. I am a graphic designer who has to stare at pictures and text all day long and this monitor is really easy on my eyes. It has good contrast, brightness, and color controls, and text is crisp and clear. It comes with two cables - regular VGA and digital DVI. I'm sure with the DVI it is an even better picture, but my video card is analog and even the VGA is great quality.
I listen to internet radio at work on the built-in speakers - and I can hear the music clearly across the 20' long room. It's decent quality, just don't expect it to sound quite like a live concert.
The thing I love most is this monitor causes less eye strain than CRTs (you blink less when you use a CRT), and its footprint is so small I can set it 24 to 36" away from my face - the recommended distance for minimizing eye strain. The huge CRT it replaces had to sit about 16" from my face and that gave me awful headaches. I am happy to say no more headaches since my boss got this amazing monitor for me!
