(The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) It also offers a very fast 8ms (millisecond) response time, which is great for watching fast-moving sports and action movies.

The 3D comb filter further enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). Other features include standard picture controls (contrast, brightness, color, tint, sharpness), trilingual onscreen display (English, French, Spanish), sleep timer, closed caption decoder, and V-Chip parental controls.

This set includes two bottom-mounted stereo speakers that provide 5 watts of power per channel (for 10 watts of total power), and it provides a digital coaxial audio output for connecting to a home theater receiver for immersive surround sound. It has the following connection options: <ul>

HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) to your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio, on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).

Component Video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB), and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

Response Time refers specifically to LCD monitors and the amount of time it takes for a liquid crystal cell to switch from active (black) to inactive (white) and back again. It's measured in milliseconds (ms), and the lower the number the faster the response time--translating to a smoother picture with fewer pixilated or ghosted artifacts.

You get what you pay for........2007-06-13

This TV works great, it is my first LCD TV. I went for the cheaper version and did not want to pay $800+ for a TV I watch just a few hours a week.
Tv was working as soon as it was out of the box and I have not had any major issues with it.
My main concerns with the TV are:
- Power on or remote ctrl power on: sometimes the green led will flicker and the TV won't turn on.
- Pause between channel surfing
- Using the remote ctrl to change channnels: often you can enter a channel # and nothing will happen.

These are minor issues that have been present since day 1 and I hope nothing else will impede the working order of this TV in the long run.

picture went out after 3 months... when I took it to get fixed under the parts warrenty... it was still $300 to repair. JUNK

Defective Product.......2007-05-14

This model of Sylvania TV is defective and has blue lines running through the whole screen. I would not recommend anyone buy this product. the only bright spot was Skybox Usa's help in returning this product and making sure i was satisfied with the end results.

Excellent HDTV for the market price.......2007-05-13

This is an excellent HDTV for the price. It pick-ups all the digital stations in my area ( San Francisco ) with the old VHF dipoles ( no UHF loop ). The picture quality was stunning right out of the box, color was vibrant and lively. I have bought a 42" Vizio for my living room and a 32" Vizio for my bedroom. They required some adjustments to get decent picture quality. However, this little guy did it right from the box. This was a birthday present to my mother-in-law who lives in our basement. When I asked my daugthers which TV was the best in our house, they said...........Grandma's........... and they stay down there. The only grudge I have is that I missed the Amazon's $499 sales with free shipping. I ended up paying $20 dollar more...........too bad!

I RECEIVED TV VERY QUICKLY. I SET IT UP IN ABOUT TEN MINUTES IT HAS A GREAT PICTURE AND THAT WAS BEFORE I ADDED ON ANYTHING NEW. IT DOES TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO TURN ITSELF ON BUT THAT'S NO REAL PROBLEN. TODAY I JUST GOT MY CABLE UPGRADED TO HDTV, DIGITAL AND DVR. THAT HOOK UP ALSO TOOK ABOUT TEN MINUTES AND THE PICTURE IS EVEN BETTER, GREAT PURCHASE, I AM HAPPY WITH TV BUT TIME WILL BE THE REAL TEST.
