Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars excellent project .......2007-06-01

Excellent project with enough brightness in the room with window. All functions are working well as described by Panasonic. Lighting remote control is helpful in dark room. It is definitely worth $$$$ you paid for this project.

5 out of 5 stars Like a huge LCD screen on the wall!.......2007-04-05

I have only just received this unit, but my first impression are that it is amazing! I don't have everything set up yet in the room, so I just tested it by putting the image on the back wall (which is unfortunately a cream color and is textured) while having my LCD tv sitting in it's normal spot. I hooked up my PS3 to it and turned on a couple blu-ray movies. My wife was watching tv and looked back at the projection and was absolutely amazed that the image on the wall looked brighter and clearer than the blu-ray movies my LCD tv, and she's not one notice differences all that much!

Set up is a breeze and I love the big buttons on the remote that switch the color and brightness modes.(buttons are "Home theater" "Living room" and "favorite") Also, the ability to physically move the lens and zoom are extremely nice and offer a great amount of flexibility for any size room.

I'll be sure to update the review after I've done more extensive testing on different kinds of inputs, and on a true screen instead of the wall.

5 out of 5 stars STRICTLY TOP OF THE LINE IN ALL RESPECTS!.......2007-03-13

If you decide to purchase the AX100U, number one on your agenda should be to make sure you have a late model DVD player with Up Conversion capabilities. This is usually signified by a HDMI jack on the rear panel. Then you will be able to enjoy the full capabilities of your new Video Projector.

The Panasonic AX100U is absolute perfection which truly sums up this masterpiece of video technology.

It is difficult to see how Blu-ray or HD can improve on the superb picture quality from standard DVDs when viewed on this elegant machine.

Even in ambient light during the day, the AX100U delivers outstanding color and detail.

Even standard TV fare comes alive once you familiarize yourself with the multitude of settings available from the well laid out menu. Satellite and digital cable also display with pleasing results.

The sleek lighted remote is handy and adequate for all your requirements.

In my opinion, no dedicated LCD, Plasma, or DLP Television set can come close to delivering the kind of picture that makes every viewing on the AX100U the equivalent of a World Premiere.

5 out of 5 stars What a picture!.......2007-03-11

This is my second projector - I used an NEC for the last four years, but that died on me recently. And, boy, am I glad it died - I am amazed by the quality of the AX100U - the pictures and colors almost jump off the screen at you. Also, the oft mentioned LDC projector 'screen door' effect is virtually non-existant - you have to stand almost next to the screen to notice it. I believe Panny used some smoothening technology to achieve it. The contrast is also truely outstanding for an LCD projector - at par with DLP systesm, but without the headaches of the rainbow effect.

Couple of pointers which might be helpful to other users. When I first started using the projector with my DVD player I was getting some wavy curls (not too visible, but still there) that seemed to flow across the screeen. However, after about 4-5 hours of use, they have disappeared - so if any of you see those wavy curls, just give it a few hours and hopefully yours will disappear as well.

Secondly, unlike my old NEC I was getting a flickering shimmer when using my HD box from my cable company. The shimmer was just at the edge of teh picture. There is an easy fix for this. Go to options, overscan, and you can actually crop the edge of the image and not see it any more...voila - no flickers and an incredible picture.

Be aware that this is big, bulky projector compared to some others out there. Definately not a portable one - you don't want to be lugging it home from work after presentations to see home pictures. This was designed as a dedicated home theater projector, not a portable presentation device.

I highly recommend this projector - you've got to see the picture to believe it - I didn't think it was possible at this price range.

4 out of 5 stars Good performance but multiple quality control issues.......2007-02-22

First off, this is only a good, but not great, projector. With the way projector prices have been falling, there are other options for less that deliver comparable performance. The Sanyo Z5, for example, costs several hundred dollars less and actually produces a sharper picture as well as including twice as many digital inputs as the Panasonic. I bought this model last September and have already had to send it in twice to get fixed. In fact, it's on its way to the repair center as I am typing this review. This is not an isolated incident either, MANY PT-AX100 owners have been experiencing problems just like mine and it's clear that Panasonic didn't spend enough time/money on quality control. Go read through any HDTV or projector forum for a laundry list of issues regarding this projector. The decision is up to you, but I would advise people to look elsewhere if they want to avoid a potential headache.
